Amazon mystery

Today, I came home to an Amazon parcel that had been thrown over my gate.
No card through door. Just a random box, my name and address correct.
Inside was a really expensive sports tracking watch.
I've checked through my orders, definitely not there, I'd have noticed it going from bank!
So, now I have a dilemma, do I keep it, knowing that it's clearly an Amazon error, and they have more money than I could ever count and will resend to original recipient?
(God knows I could use the money)
Or do I do the right thing and send it back?
Part of me thinks the lord works in mysterious ways and this can go on eBay and get me a hundred quid
Part of me thinks send it back, just in case I bring bad luck to myself for being dishonest.
Honestly.....what would you do?

I heard of an Amazon scam last year whereby a supposed delivery driver comes to your property a while after delivery and claims it was a mistake then they take it from you.

They get the goods for free as the original payment was fraudulently made.
Tended to happen with high end goods.

That's what I thought it was too. Much more likely to be this than the review thing, as it's an expensive item.

I saw an Amazon branded van the other day.

I’ve had a mystery item I didn’t order delivered from Amazon. They just told me to keep it.

Think you may get a knock at your door asking for a mistakenly delivered parcel. Scammer will have used another stolen credit card to pay for the item but will have given your address after setting up an new credit card with details stolen from the original stolen credit card. They then try to recover the item by claiming it’s been delivered to the wrong address, this means that they are untraceable. If you get a caller try and call the police or get him on ctv if you have it. These guys are so clever.

@Soresoresore

Are they the vans going from the main warehouse to where local couriers pick up?

Could be wrong but actual delivery drivers round here all seem to have their own van (not branded).

Amazon definitely have their own delivery drivers as well. But round here they subcontract all their deliveries to DPD, Hermes or Royal Mail.

Ok so I just called Amazon, spoke to a very nice fellow who asked for a few details from the box, confirmed that it wasn't showing on my account and that my password had been changed and two step verification was active
He sent an email to me saying I do not need to return and to report anything further should it happen
I'll keep a super close eye on my account and banking, but feel reassured that it was an error, and dare I say my conscience is clear to put the watch on eBay!

Just seen this thread and am jealous of the watch as I wanted that one but settled for a cheaper version as couldn't justify the cost...

Is your eBay username countvoncount too - asking for a friend 🙄

It's not, but think I've found the listing 😉
