Unbelievable that this is still a problem after all the hype on social media and the news but unfortunately it is.

Why do people think it’s acceptable to feed an animal that isn’t there’s? I don’t care if it’s an apple or carrot or just a few blades of grass. They’re not your horses- DONT FEED THEM ANYTHING.

If you feed horses in fields that are not yours, honestly, why do you do it?? Do you realise how your ignorance could make someones horse unwell?

Dreading summer holidays when more people are out for walks and think it’s acceptable to feed the horses in the fieldsSad

Just bumping this thread, after posting something similar in my local SM.

Do not feed birds because of the avian flu.
Don't feed animals that are not yours, including the friendly neighbourhood cat.
You could harm them or yourself.

Do you mean garden birds? I had not heard that we shouldn't feed them so i looked it up. I can see recommendations to keep feeding stations clean but nothing about not feeding them. Can you expand?

@TheOrigRights , I mean wildfowl. Ducks and swans.
People also ignore signs telling them not to feed pigeons.

Oh right. I actually didn't know that, but it makes sense. Obviously people are idiots for ignoring signs.
I haven't seen any news about not feeding ducks/wild fowl where I am. I haven't been anywhere like a Country Park or NT place though, just rural living.

I think at the moment, the general rule is to treat all birds like you're in an Alfred Hitchcock film.
Run away.

@TheOrigRights , there are lots of swans and ducks on a nearby river, and there are signs telling people not to feed them, and there have been signs up for years not to feed them bread. People still do.

In the town centre, people buy seeds and feed the pigeons, despite there being signs up asking them not to. Some of them might not be able to read English, but they are probably just ignorant and selfish.

Yes, you're right. I'm realising I just haven't been out much!
I do see nature, but it's the small river that runs through my village. People don't feed the birds that swim there.
