Inspired by another thread but mainly by my own experiences today.
In February it was 20p to use the public loos at our favourite seaside town. Today it has doubled to 40p! There are now contactless points incase you don't have any cash. 40p to pee!
Mr Kipling cherry Bakewells have jumped to £1.90 in Asda and I'm sure they used to be £1.40 or sometimes even £1 and that was only a few weeks back. Cake isn't essential I know, but peeing is. Things have gone up generally but the odd pence here and there isn't always noticed but these are huge jumps.

Yes! Mainly because I had two weeks of Easter holiday so couldn't earn extra cash doing supply teaching. I'm woefully down on my earnings this month. Not looking forward to August, so trying to save what I can already.

April was a 5 week month as well (I was paid on 25 March, due to how it fell, then the correct date of 27 April). It was tough going!

I had Wisdom kids' electric toothbrushes in my basket on their online store. They went up £1 each before I checked out. I could've kicked myself.

BeachTree · 30/04/2022 21:17

My hairdresser has increased the cost of a cut and blow dry from £47 (this already felt a tad steep for my area) they have now increased it over night to £56! A 20% increase, how is the justified? My wage in crease this year will be around 2%. I don't know how we are all expected to keep up with these increases, when salary increases are so far behind.

Claudiawinklemansfringe · 01/05/2022 09:48

Bought pair of jeans in M&S on 1st April for £19.50, went to buy another identical pair on 27th April now £22.50

Mig28 · 01/05/2022 13:13

Just done a quick comparison of a few items from lidl 4th Dec v 29th April, it was obvious it was getting dearer but quite shocked,
Lasagne £2.69 now £3.29
Babybel £1.99 now £2.19
Corner yogurts £1.79 now £1.95
5% mince £5.19 now £5.45
Only 4 items and it's £1.22 more 😮
Many, many items 10p dearer

Last month I tried taking cash out after payday and just trying to budget that for the food shopping, I didn't quite make it but it make me a lot more conscious of not just tapping my card and paying whatever, adding in little extras here and there and trying to plan to avoid waste. Hopefully this month all the toilet roll, coffee, washing powder and baby formula won't need replaced at the same time 😅 (if ever I come under budget I plan to save the extra for treats)

Gutted though on my 1st shop after payday this time I didn't scan lidl plus so have missed out on the £10 voucher 😭

Mig28 · 01/05/2022 13:14

Oh wow! I was shocked at mine going up to £30 last month! Half the time I get it done in an evening and bloody grudge paying that to go home to bed and ruin the blowdry 😆

I know, it feels such a shame to ruin it! Treat yourself to a morning appointment and make the most of your nice hair :)

Aldi just put the price of flour up from 42p two months ago to 55p. It's like that across the board. I know it's only pennies but an 11% increase. Bad times, especially as everyone price matches to them.

LolaLouLou · 02/05/2022 08:17

I shop at Tescos. I shop online and I was seek out offers.

The half price offers have dried up. Now most offers are about a 25p drop in price.

KatherineofGaunt · 02/05/2022 18:57

My Lidl shopping trips are going well. I worked out a roughly equivalent shop at Morrisons from my last Lidl receipt (I love that it saves the receipt for you - Sainsbury's app take note!). It was at least £10 more expensive, if not £15. I definitely don't use £10 of petrol getting there and back, so worth the trip.

TrillianMurphy · 14/04/2022 10:50

Toilet roll in farmfoods has gone from 4 packs for £10 to 4 packs for £15.

That deal has gone up again, now 4 packs for £17.

Also probably not a regularly purchased item, but Asda has increased the price of their 5L bottles of own brand still water from around £2-3 to £11.25! None of the other supermarkets have hiked the prices up that much for water, so I don't know what they think they're playing at!

Aldi’s 1litre basic type long life orange juice has gone from 55p a few weeks ago to 75p.

as has their apple juice.

Asda no longer sell the smart price apple juice so that you have to buy the next opne up wchich is something like a pound.

BlackeyedSusan · 03/05/2022 11:59

prviously there were offers on KTC beans and choppped tomatoes at 4 for a pound. (25p) or three for a pound (33p) now it is five for £2 (40p)

Orangesandlemons77 · 03/05/2022 16:31

Waitrose essentials is cheaper than some of these...beans 40p or 4 for 1.20..

mmmmmmghturep · 03/05/2022 21:29

The Superdrug Artiscent Atelier range used to be buy one get one free sometimes, now when doing the offer its buy one get one half price.

Newport1972 · 03/05/2022 21:34

About a month ago I paid £1 60 for a can of pop at a cafe. Last visit they wanted £2.00

RoonilWazlib21 · 03/05/2022 21:40

Asda sliced meats (ham etc) have gone from 150g to 120g with no change in price.

Allthe4s · 03/05/2022 21:58

1 x Gluten free + 1 x lactofree person in my house = VERY expensive. The price of a loaf of Warburtons GF bread, 400g is £3.65 😫It’s possible to buy slightly cheaper, not much though, and tastes revolting. We cook mostly from scratch anyway and luckily don’t eat a lot of of bread/pasta but anything for a special diet has a huge mark up and apart from raw ingredients, can’t always even buy cheap pesto in Aldi say as tons of stuff has gluten/milk in it.

Fedupbuyer · 04/05/2022 04:51

Weekly shop at aldi used to be £110,now it’s £165!internet went up from £28 to £33,phone bill went up from £25 to £31 a month,gas/electric it was £75 now £160 that’s with a reading every month and no heating on!things are grim and depressing.

Blondeshavemorefun · 04/05/2022 09:43

Argos toys - for years been 2 for £15. Fab for birthday pressies

Decafflatteplease · 04/05/2022 09:47

In Asda just now. I got some basic summer slip on shoes about a month ago for £6. Loved them so went back today to get another pair. They are now £7.50

Lex345 · 04/05/2022 09:47

4 pints of milk has gone up in Aldi from £1.19 to £1.25.

I do a big monthy shop, which I am due to do next week. Dreading it.

The best is Schar gluten free bread. It's £2.70 from supermarkets. Seriously, you won't taste better.

mycatisannoying · 04/05/2022 20:14

Actually, Schar bread is currently on special for £2 at Tesco.

Newestname002 · 07/05/2022 05:51

Waitrose Longlife milk used to be £1/litre or £4.50 for the six-pack - now £1.10 per single litres. I'll be changing to Iceland or Sainsburys. 🌹

TheDoveFromAboveCooCoo · 07/05/2022 08:47

I've just seen the Aldi brochure for next week.

The Super Six offers are all 99p each when I'm pretty sure they all used to be 69p each?
