A white one, a green one and a savoy?

I don't want them to go off.

Mix it all together so that you've got lovely 3 colour cabbage then par boil and freeze in portions

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 13/04/2022 12:16

Put them in the van.

DragonOverTheMoon · 13/04/2022 12:25

I went and bought stuff for kimchi yesterday, just waiting on the dishwasher to finish for my steralised jar.

I also bought capers and dill for remoulade. I'll make that tomorrow as there's burgers on the menu for dinner.

I love savoy so much. I'm going to stir fry it with carrots, onions, peppers, garlic, thyme and a bit of hot sauce to go with our dinner tonight.

Give them to someone else.

MikeandDave · 13/04/2022 13:28

@JesusInTheCabbageVan often wondered what you do with your cabbages Grin

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 13/04/2022 13:36

@MikeandDave we drive around the country, interrupting constructive conversations to make silly jokes Grin I find it life-affirming.

Borscht, cabbage rolls and coleslaw will use the lot up. Borscht and cabbage rolls can be frozen for future meals..
If you have never made borscht I would recommend it highly. One of my family's favourite meals, especially when served with perogies or potato farls.

Whose · 13/04/2022 13:43

Throw them at people i don't like.
If you cut them in half, you'll then have 6 projectiles #lifehack

I would personally add more potatoes.

I make a winter Greek salad with white cabbage - finely shredded white cabbage, red onion, cucumber, tomato, kalamata olives and feta, dressed with lemon juice and olive oil. It's surprisingly tasty, honest.

Coleslaw?

I do a salted red cabbage that might work with white - finely shred it, then mix through garlic powder, lemon juice, salt and olive oil. It's bloody fab in grilled chicken wraps.

Green one - finely shred it, then sautee it quickly with garlic and lemon juice so it's still crispy. I hate properly cooked cabbage, it's got to be a bit crispy still. .

Savoy - can't help you there, I don't like them :-)

DragonOverTheMoon · 13/04/2022 13:57

@Ski4130 the winter greek salad would work, I've got all those ingredients to hand.

Jesus, anytime you want to unload a few cabbages let me know, I've got a lot of recipes to get through Grin

BbQ season version of the Christmas song.

DragonOverTheMoon · 14/04/2022 21:18

I did the quick kimchi, the greek salad and the remoulade.

Just the savoy tomorrow to go!

White one thinly sliced with grated carrot and onion and flat leafed parsley then make a dressing with thick fat free Greek yoghurt, lemon juice, whole grain honey mustard and mayo.

I agree with this! A favourite recipe in our house. Goes well with chicken (e.g. cooked with yakitori sauce) and can skip the dipping sauce in the recipe and instead use shop-bought okonomi sauce and Kewpie mayonnaise.
Nameandgamechange123 · 14/04/2022 22:14

Oil in pan
Crush in loads of garlic
Pop in some chopped up bacon or chorizo
Chuck in loads of chopped up savoy cabbage
Fry
Add shaved parmesan +black pepper
Enjoy

VestaTilley · 14/04/2022 22:19

White one - cook with bacon (as opposed to pork ribs) - Scouse speciality, delicious. Hard to get bacon ribs outside of the north west though.

Savoy - mix with cooked potato to make bubble and squeak. Serve with fried egg and/or bacon.

Green cabbage - stuffed cabbage with pork mince, sour cream and paprika. There are lots of good Central European recipes online. Yum.

@DragonOverTheMoon

I go to a fruit and veg market and they do £1.50 /£2 bags of fruit and veg and salad.

Last week in my veg bag I had a white cabbage, leaks, Brocoli and beetroot. This week I had a huge cauliflower, Brocoli, carrots, green cabbage and a savoy!

Ah I was going to ask how you came by so many cabbages. I was assuming a family me3with an allotment.

This sort of thing used to happen regularly when my late DMs partner still had an allotment. He grew.vast quantities of lovely fresh veg and when we visited he would always produce a sack of assorted veg for us to take home. Lovely but it always seemed to be after I had already shopped.
I hate waste so would be trying all sorts to use it up.

I remember one time trying to work my way through a large bunch of beetroot and DH being scared stiff when his wee turned pink.
