Ill child - posting for traffic

Hi shamelessly posting for traffic.

My daughter has woken up today (age 4) insists nothing is wrong but is SO pale and doesn't want to eat or drink. She's been asleep back in bed since 9am, just got up for 5 minutes and has now gone back to bed again. No temperature, nothing else obviously wrong. I was thinking sick bug/tummy bug etc but surely something would have happened by now? I'd usually just go along with it and see what happens but care isn't as good over the weekend but our docs is brilliant if I get her seen today. Is it worth contacting the GP (or 111 etc) or will they just say 🤷‍♀️ there's nothing actually really wrong. My instincts are saying there is something wrong 😕 don't know what to do.

Has she eaten anything different that night be upsetting her stomach? I can't eat gluten and paleness, not wanting to eat or drink, lethargy and general feeling like shit are the symptoms if I do.

nearlyspringyay · 08/04/2022 14:27

I am not a medic!

Sounds like she's brewing something, if you can rouse her I wouldn't be too concerned. Can you get any fluid in, has she been for a wee?

Givemeallthegin8 · 08/04/2022 14:32

I would be concerned , only because my own children don’t sleep past 7am unless very sick !
Hope she feels better after her long sleep

FourOclock · 08/04/2022 14:33

We had a weird bug like this earlier in the week. DS1 had it Monday, just woke up emotional and took himself off to the sofa and barely moved. He was sick once but nothing for the rest of the day, although did have a temperature later on in the day. The next day he was absolutely fine, DS2 then came down not well and was exactly the same but no sick at all, just sleepy and pale all day with a temperature later on in the day. Again absolutely fine the next day.

No shes very samey with food so always eats the same sort of stuff.

She has had some water and did have a wee this morning when she woke up thats it since then.

Still asleep. Do I just leave her and leave her? Nothing else has changed and no aches or pains. She says literally nothing is wrong she is just so tired. She's quote a grown up 4 year old "I'm alright mummy just let me sleep" 🤷‍♀️ even if I did call 111 there's no symptoms really. When she next wakes up she says she'll let me do a covid test.

I would wake her and keep her up for a couple of hours until her normal bedtime to see how she does

JungleJimbo · 08/04/2022 18:03

Has she woken since your last post?

FatEaredFuck · 08/04/2022 18:05

Id call 111 after a whole day. Has she had another drink after this morning? Any food at all?

OnceuponaRainbow18 · 08/04/2022 18:06

My son did this when he had covid, absolutely exhausted, I suggested we go to football and he cried hysterically

PostingForTrafficz · 08/04/2022 18:09

Ok she woke up about 20 mins ago. Much much better, colour in her cheeks and has just had toast and water and been for a wee. In good spirits. LFT was negative. Who knows what this is/was! But I'm glad I didn't waste the GPs time. Very strange though, will definitely keep an eye on her tonight.

CatDogMonkeyPOW · 08/04/2022 18:10

Bless her. I think the main thing is to make sure she is drinking between sleeping sessions. I wouldn't even worry about food, just keep her topped up with fluids.

Statistically, with so much of it about, it's probably Covid but if she becomes difficult to rouse, appears confused etc then you need to seek help.

CatDogMonkeyPOW · 08/04/2022 18:10

Cross post! Glad she is feeling better.

I am thinking covid now, will keep testing her tomorrow and the next day just in case. But it might have been exhaustion I guess?! Very odd.

DS did this yesterday, funnily enough! Got up in the morning for a couple of hours, then wanted to go back to bed to rest. Perked up again in the evening and has been fine all day today. Very odd!

She now has a temp of 37.5! Not too high I guess but definitely something going on.

Isn't that a normal temp? 38 is considered a fever, I think 37.5 is pretty standard?
WonderfulYou · 08/04/2022 19:29

This sounds similar to Covid - I was so exhausted but couldn’t think why and i was testing negative but then a couple days later I had a massive headache and when I tested again I was positive.

There are also other bugs going around which could be one of these.

It’s hard to know when to get it checked isn’t it.

CottonSock · 08/04/2022 19:34

It was covid for us in my 5yo. I had to carry her home from a restaurant. Put her to bed and she didn't even stir. She didn't test POS for a few days (then me, then dh, then other dd).

PostingForTrafficz · 08/04/2022 19:51

I'll definitely keep testing her it's likely to be covid I think too. 37.5 is not high but its definitely higher than normal temp which I think is 36.7. The thermometer bleeped at 37.5 suggesting it's a fever. She once had a temp of 42 which was concerning but I agree 37.5 is not high but shows there probably is something brewing.

OP posts:
MamaBearThius · 08/04/2022 20:01

Completely agree, 37.5 is usually the start of something for my eldest DD. Her temp is usually 36.6.
Really hope your DD is okay and this is just a little blip

FelicityPike · 08/04/2022 20:02

I was the same, exhausted, nauseous, diarrhoea for 4 days before I tested positive for Covid recently.

WonderfulYou · 08/04/2022 20:13

It’s more than likely covid but I have just read that hepatitis is going around which has tiredness as one of the symptoms. Jaundice is one of the main symptoms.

I thought I’d link it just incase your DD doesn’t have covid and is still feeling rough.
