Not had the booster yet

Has anyone else not had the booster yet? I had a terrible reaction to moderna 2 - was ill for nearly 2 weeks and it really scared me. This was in august and it really put me off not having a booster. I also had covid and was very ill in March 2020 so the 2 things could be linked.

I feel like covid is circling me again though and I do really need to get boosted but I am, to be honest, really scared of getting it. I had some really horrible symptoms after the 2nd moderna- terrible brain fog, random pains, flu symptoms, racing pulse headaches etc -obviously much like having covid again.

Can anyone talk me down a bit? Aibu to feel scared or should I just crack on? Would I have any immunity left from covid & the first lot of jabs?

@RampantIvy

The booster is a different drug to the first two. So it won't be Moderna this time.
Not true.

I had moderna for all 3 - that was just what they were offering on the day.

OP, maybe contact your GP and see if they are able to organise an alternative to moderna? I know a couple of people who were able to request something different to what was being offered (for assorted reasons), but this had to be organised specially.

I had two vaccines but decided against the booster. I got covid a couple of weeks ago, for me it was a head cold. Glad I didn’t get the booster and certainly won’t bother now I’m prepared to catch covid a couple of times a year.

Yes that's how I feel. I had two AZ Spring 2021 and declined any further jabs. I too got Covid recently and for me was more than bearable. I know no one can say for sure but if that's as bad as It gets, I'd rather that than overloading my body with jabs.

I had Moderna after two Pfizers and I felt awful too. Not sure if I will get any further boosters unless there is a choice in what you can get. I've also had Covid - I felt rotten for a few days (heavy cold symptoms) but recovered within 10 days

AnastasiaRomanov · 30/03/2022 10:50

Is anyone planning to travel without boosters?

Is anyone planning to travel without boosters?

My brother and his wife have been travelling to a whole swathe of countries completely unvaccinated let alone 'boostered'.

Can you tell me which counties closest to the U.K. they've been able to travel to please? I'm hoping to start travelling again

This isn't true, I know a lot of people that had Moderna as their booster, it was the main one used round my way
housemdwaswrong · 30/03/2022 11:13

I've had 4 vaccines and and reacted to two of them. I'll have a 5th probably too, but that's my circumstances for you, I'd prob have complications from covid so I'll take whatever they offer. If I wasn't likely to have complications, and I already had two jabs I'd probably stop there to be honest. My 2 az were fine, but moderna and pfizer were both vile for me. I'll have the 5th in a weekend/school holidays as I'll need time off otherwise.

user1419 · 30/03/2022 12:32

Not bothering with the booster, everyone I know who has had covid recently is triple vaxxed. Doesn't seem much point to me. Before anyone says they would have been in hospital without the vaccination, that's is extremely unlikely.

It isn't always different but at the vaccine centre where I volunteer it is mostly Pfizer whatever you had before. If you are really concerned about moderna OP go to a walk-in centre and ask what they have that day.

That's not what the hospital consultant from Preston said on R4 yesterday. The patients in ITU are either not vaccinated or not had a booster.
hamstersarse · 30/03/2022 12:42

I've not had the booster. No plans to either

Had Covid, was like a cold. I don't take drugs I don't need.

Yes @CaptainMyCaptain that's not true at all. Perhaps in his particular hospital. And potentially a very small number maybe 2-3. Who knows exactly. But that's certainly not the case for all hospitals across the U.K.

I know of more triple vaccinated / boosted people who have been in far worse condition than any unvaccinated people I know.

AnastasiaRomanov · 30/03/2022 12:55

Moderna is the only booster being offered where I live.

BoodleBug51 · 30/03/2022 12:59

I had my booster in December and had a horrible reaction to it.

I'm certainly not having any more.

Not making myself ill for the sake of it.

I had Covid and whilst feeling rough for a few weeks, it was nowhere near as bad as the booster reaction.

hamstersarse · 30/03/2022 13:27

Never before in history have people ignored such side effects from a pharmaceutical drug so willingly.

It is such a mind fuck when people say they will continue to have the jabs after being extremely ill from them and less so than from the actual disease it is supposed to be protecting you from.

I hope VAIDS is not becoming another reality from the conspiracy theorists. Looking at the data, and the fact that the vaccinated are getting more infections than the unvaccinated proportionately, I am sure there are some people shitting themselves that it may be!

Nat6999 · 30/03/2022 13:37

I'm still waiting for someone to come out to do mine as I'm housebound, was supposed to be next Friday buy has now been rescheduled to the end of April.

Well said! I didn't want to go down the vaccination side effects rabbit hole in my pp but that's also a reason I won't be having a booster. The thousands of side effects listed in Pfizers own recently released document should be enough to put anyone off. The psychology that's been used on the population is outrageous and incidentally fascinating.
Appleby11 · 30/03/2022 16:18

I had three modernas as that's what they had and wasn't well for a few days after. However, I think if you were to book it through 119 you can ask where has the other vaccine as a booster to the ones you've had and they can book you in there.

bluebeach · 30/03/2022 16:36

I didn’t get the booster. I’ve since had covid and it was very mild. Nearly all of my friends got boosted. They all got covid too, I’d say I had it no worse that any of them. It’s just anecdotal. Get boosted if you are worried but if won’t necessarily stop you getting covid.

AnastasiaRomanov · 31/03/2022 16:25

Just been listening to R4 featuring a woman who was paralysed after a flu jab reaction. Really scary.

User1234567891011121314 · 31/03/2022 16:27

Also not got booster because of what you stated.

User1234567891011121314 · 31/03/2022 16:39

Sorry just to add I've had COVID twice and my boostered friends and colleagues had worse effects than me. It depends on your immune system! Also the 'guidance' that came out today if you have cold and flu symptoms to stay home and recover isn't that what we did pre covid?
