Not had the booster yet

Has anyone else not had the booster yet? I had a terrible reaction to moderna 2 - was ill for nearly 2 weeks and it really scared me. This was in august and it really put me off not having a booster. I also had covid and was very ill in March 2020 so the 2 things could be linked.

I feel like covid is circling me again though and I do really need to get boosted but I am, to be honest, really scared of getting it. I had some really horrible symptoms after the 2nd moderna- terrible brain fog, random pains, flu symptoms, racing pulse headaches etc -obviously much like having covid again.

Can anyone talk me down a bit? Aibu to feel scared or should I just crack on? Would I have any immunity left from covid & the first lot of jabs?

Unvaccinated and in healthcare.

Have had covid last year and a slight cold for two days this year. Have been so much better than vaccinated friends and colleagues.

I'm noticing vaccinated patients seem to suffer with worse chest infections following catching covid after being vaccinated.

millymolls · 28/03/2022 17:52

Nope not had booster and don’t intend to

Mossstitch · 28/03/2022 17:56

Nhs plus 2 nhs adult children all had covid early 2020. I'm doing my own research trial😂 I had one AZ as advised against phfizer due to allergies. Then all the stuff came out about blood clots so didn't go for second as a lot of countries only doing one vax if already had covid at the time. Then they said nhs had to be double vaxed or can't work so reluctantly had second AZ and spent following 4 weeks thinking every twinge was a blood clot, then they went back on it, I felt conned! One of my sons had moderna, very ill with side effects not had second as rules changed in time to save him having to have second. Other son had phfizer x 2 very ill after both but not as bad as son with moderna. Third son not nhs nor had covid had three phfizer and mild side effects only. Most people I know that had already had covid seem to have worse symptoms from the vaccinations than those who hadn't had covid first. Anecdotal I know but I think that's our bodies fighting back as already immune. Son who had moderna was more ill with side effects than when he had covid🤷

CheekyTanuki · 28/03/2022 18:06

I didnt get the booster. I had a very bad reaction to the second vaccine and for me i was more scared of the booster than covid.
I just got covid a couple weeks ago and tbh it was way better than the vaccine. It dragged out for a while and i felt tired and had no energy for over a week, but i wasnt feeling bad otherwise at all. Only a very light cough for 2 days and a bit of a sore throat. Covid seems to become weaker and weaker, im not getting vaccinated again.

elephantmarchingin · 28/03/2022 23:28

I had quite a negative reaction to my booster (Pfizer) which I hadn't had with the other two and ended up with all sorts of issues and in a&e so DH has refused to get his booster. I don't blame him

SpaceyCake · 28/03/2022 23:57

I didn't get the booster. Ironically my health anxiety got worse after the second jab so I thought I wouldn't put myself through it again just yet. I knew I'd catch covid from DC's school so I was mentally prepared for it. I did catch Covid and I was fine despite being somewhat high risk. I think I'll get boosted later on in the year so I have some immunity for the flu season.

Obviously you never know how you're going to do with Covid so it's a bit tricky trying to decide whether to get the booster or not, if you've had issues with the jabs before.

kitcat15 · 29/03/2022 00:13

I've had 4 now...all pfizer....its all Pfizer were I am now ( nw england)

WouldYouIfYouCould · 29/03/2022 00:13

Unjabbed. Just had some variety of covid two years after the first time I had it. This time was like tonsilitis. Extremely sore throat, shivers, aches and pains. Nothing terrible. Three days off work. Two triple jabbed friends both recently ended up needing hospital treatment for their second doses of covid. Off work several weeks. I know plenty of jabbed people who have had mild covid too. Pot luck really!

IEatChocolateForBreakfast · 29/03/2022 00:31

No covid jabs for any of us in our household. We all currently have Covid. Would never have guessed it, but tested because my DD had a cough one evening that cleared up by the end of the next day. We all feel great. Going out for walks and to the park, been out to lunch. No symptoms. This is the second time we've had it. Both times no symptoms and felt great, whereas all of my jabbed friends were going on about how rough they were.

Glitteringduck · 29/03/2022 01:16

Certainly seems that many jabbed and boosted people here have had a really shit time!

Rachaelrachael · 29/03/2022 01:30

I really don't want to get my booster as I was so ill after the first two, but I'm going to Spain in 3 weeks so I'm backed into a corner.
Had been waiting and hoping the rules would change but no joy..

SmudgeRolls · 29/03/2022 01:35

Iv had 4
Caught Covid three weeks after my 4th and was ill for about four weeks
Glad i had the 4 jabs

GarlandsinGreece · 29/03/2022 01:58

I’ve had one booster, but won’t be getting another. It caused a massive flare of my autoimmune conditions, which lasted a month, and quite honestly I don’t have the time or patience to be so out of commission like that.

Madferit · 29/03/2022 02:21

Don't bother OP if you don't want it, I haven't had any myself

FakingMemories · 29/03/2022 04:53

Nope. Not having it.

PurpleMarie · 29/03/2022 05:07

Dear baby Jesus - This thread is where science came to die

londonrach · 29/03/2022 05:09

Everyone I know has apart from one mum friend. She was pregnant as the vaccine came out and at the time the advice was unsure. She decided to wait till after giving birth to have the vaccine and first thing she did after birth was to have vaccine...baby is 7 months...she had two vaccines and hadn't got to booster stage when she got covid....she was vvvvvvvv ill. Just bad luck in her case as she had the booster book for the week after she got covid.

Momijin · 29/03/2022 06:31

I don't know. I've had 3 1st 2 AZ and booster Pfizer. Slightly tired for a few nights with the first one and that's it.

I don't know if I've had covid but out of my kids the only one who got poorly after the jab was poorly when they had covid (pre jabs). So I think that it is even more important to be jabbed if you were poorly as it is supposed to be a mild version of the real thing. But I'm not a doctor nor a scientist.

Shoxfordian · 29/03/2022 06:40

I had all three jabs and it was fine; I think it’s the socially responsible thing to do tbh much like having the vaccine in the first place

Carpy899 · 29/03/2022 06:51

I didn't take it because both doses made me feel like a crap and i'm a reasonably healthy 30 year old so don't particularly give a shit about catching covid.

Popcornriver · 29/03/2022 07:12

I'm vaccinated but if I had a serious reaction to the first dose, I wouldn't have went for the second dose.

Don't particularly understand all the comments suggesting the vaccine doesn't help though. You only need to look at what happened with the daily figures to see they've helped.

Worryinglyworried73 · 29/03/2022 07:33

@PurpleMarie is it though? It’s people talking about their experiences good and bad of being jabbed. I got double jabbed as I felt it was my public health duty to do so but it made me really unwell. I don’t feel like it’s unreasonable to be really anxious about having another one knowing that and to worry about the impact of a 3rd jab

@Colddayinthesun

I had two AZ early last year. I Haven't had anymore and won't be unless something dramatically changes in the stats. No one I know has got off any lighter from being jabbed up to their eyeballs (compared to unjabbed friends and acquaintances) and too many have suffered lasting side effects from the jabs. For me, weighing it up, at the moment, I'll be declining any further vaccinations .
This is my situation exactly. However I have two foreign holidays booked this year and all the hassle of having a PCR and potentially not being allowed to go anywhere is making re rethink.
AnastasiaRomanov · 29/03/2022 07:41

Is anyone going abroad without the booster out of interest?

RichardMarxisinnocent · 29/03/2022 07:45

@RampantIvy

I stand corrected then. Maybe it is because you have a medical need that you have had all the same? Most of us have just had two the same, then a different one for the booster. So just three in total.
Only the mRNA vaccines are being given as boosters, so yes everyone who had AZ for rhe first two will get a different one for the booster, but if you had pfizer or moderna as the fist two you might well get the same for a booster. It depends what the clinic has available on that particular day.
