Fantastic Mother's Day

After all the depressing Mother's Day threads - can I just say I have had a lovely day! ( We have never been big celebrators - My mum just wanted a phone call or a card - to forget both was a heinous crime and the tradition has followed!)

I have 2 DSs.

Started with a Mum don't forget you lost an hour in bed so don't get up yet!
Cup of tea appeared about an hour later.

Lunch was one of them walking to Wenzels and coming back with sausage rolls and a bag of my favourite flavour crisps. We sat and ate them together.

A hug and kiss and Mum you really are the best and another cup of tea.

Then heard the eldest 13 say to the youngest 10, in the kitchen - don't over do it, that is enough she hates a fuss. All she wants is a hug and kiss!
We can pour her a glass of wine later if she has any in the house- that will do!!

No expectations, no disappointment and a whole lot of love.

Awwww loving these stories! I was feeling a bit deflated today, as dh didn't mention anything about it (ds is 2, so would need to be told what the day is) I made us all breakfast in bed.
But then when we got to PiLs to see MiL, I was with her making tea and getting lunch together when dh and ds appeared with flowers and a gift card for a spa treatment. So dh did his usual call to mum that he was having stuff delivered and to hide it/asking her to pick things up. I have a really annoying habit of coming across things in the house that I'm not supposed to see... and I don't even look.

17yo DS came home at six from a sleepover with a heartshaped box of Ferrero Rocher and said 'I didn't want to buy you these, but One Stop didn't have any cards left, and I needed to do something that was just for you. I'm sorry I wasn't here to make you a coffee this morning.'

My face went a bit wobbly. That was all I needed from him.

It was my first Mother's Day. DP made it absolutely lovely with a banner and a balloon from ds which was blu-tac to the wall flat (it was supposed to have air in it...)
Beautiful day

I had a lie in, a mix of homemade and bought cards, some lovely chocolates, a long bath, a canvas painted by my daughter, brunch with the whole family in a nice coffee shop, followed by a little look around a few small shops with one of the children whilst dh took the others to the park.
We then called in on my mum sith some treats, just to ensure that I am still the favourite child (I took her for a spa day yesterday).

A really lovely day, made extra special and some of my children have additional needs and it takes a lot of careful balancing everyone's needs tohave a genuinely relaxed day.

Good one too - woke up to overnight grandson (apple of my eye) good chat with son, nice meal, great, inexpensive but very thoughtful
Gift. Am grateful that my (erratic at times) parenting seems to have worked.

I have had the best day! Wasn't really expecting anything, DD is with her Dad but they came over early afternoon with some flowers, card & balloon for me and took me out for a drink!
Then my Mum treated me to an indian takeaway too so loads better than I thought it might be!
Also DD had left me some gifts and a card she had made for me at Brownies (the one she made at school, she gave to her Grandma).

Three cards from my 20s children…all appropriate but probably not very PC …flowers chocs and framed pic of my grandchild. I was working this pm and one 90 year old resident had no contact from her daughter and very tearful…why ? Just pick up the phone !
