I am not keen at all. I would however rather have my lines done. I am only 39 but quite lined already. I asked him if he would consider paying for me to have botox and he replied "no, but I will pay for a boob job" , should I be offended? I don't want a boob job though. I am feeling very sensitive tonight plus one to many sherbets.

was he serious? Offencive about it?

If you dont want one then dont have one and tell him to sod off!! lol

I have had a boob job and it was for me and for dh. And i love them although i now want them bigger and a tummy tuck

But as strange as it may sound the thought of injections in my face fills me with dread. But im a needlephobic so might be that!!

Hulababy · 08/01/2008 12:18

YANBU.

Was going to suggest same as CT and WWW.

oregonianabroad · 08/01/2008 12:22

This kind of thing makes me so sad. why can't we all just accept ourselves (and our partners) the way we are? Why do we constantly cave in to a cutlure which gets us to part with money in order to achieve some bizarre version of 'ideal'? what's wrong with growing old gracefully, and showing your years as a mark of wisdom?

and before you flame me, I am not above a bit of self loathing and wrinkle cream myself. but it depresses me nonetheless.

bobsmum · 08/01/2008 12:28

Susie - if you are a size 10/12 it is unlikely that your bra size is a 36 - more like a 30 or 32 at most. I suggest you go somewhere like Bravissimo and treat yourself to loads of gorgeous bras and matching undies, dh pays and you get your own op done too.

Honestly - you're probably a 32 F or something.

get properly measured and rack up a credit card bill

suwoo · 08/01/2008 12:30

I agree with bobsmum. No size 10 is a 36 back. I'm a 10 and 30F, bet you'll be similar...see instant boob job. Bravissimo rocks!!

susiecutiemincepies · 08/01/2008 12:43

bobsmum I DO go to bravissimo, its great!

I was reading that, thinking, where the heck did you get what size clothes I wear from! I've never said I was a 10-12... too confusing all these Susies!

I'm a 14-16 and a 36G / J depending on what bra type i get... Before I had my DD, I WAS a size 10-12, and I was a 34FF so what you say is not neccecarily true about her size... it is possible.

peacelily · 08/01/2008 12:47

thought I was a 34 c (size 8/10) went to bravissimo and turns out I'm a 32DD/E!! 32FF when breast feeding!!! they don't even need to use a tape measure they just look and guess the correct size

bobsmum · 08/01/2008 13:00

Sorry was replying to OP - susieisafloozy not susuecutiemincepies.

I'm a 32G not pg, am currently 34 GG at 24 weeks and expect to be a J or a K whilst bf. But I'm a 14/16 which is why a size 10 being a 36 back size just didn't add up to me!

In days of old when I was a 10/12 I was a 28 or a 30.

Bravissimo sale is rather good btw and they've just started doing rather yummy pjs

Shaniece · 08/01/2008 13:18

How can you say that no size 10-12 is a 36b. I am a anything from a size 10 to a 12 depeneding on shop. I am 5ft4 weigh 10st usually am 9 and half but put on a bit of weight lately. I am a 36b when I was a size 8-10 in my twenties I was a 34b.

Mil is smaller than me (figure wise) and she is a 34b.

I have never been a 30 or 32 (not that I can remember). I had my boobs measured at marks & sparks 2 weeks ago so I know I am right.

Shaniece · 08/01/2008 13:19

maybe you are tall and thin bobsmum?

peacelily · 08/01/2008 13:21

TBH M+S is widely discredited for it's crapness in the bra fitting world .

You'd be better off going to a specialist ligerie shop which stocks makes like Freya and Fantasie or going to Bravissimo. Think Selfridges and Debenhams are ok too.

bobsmum · 08/01/2008 13:22

Sorry - didn't mean to wind anyone up , but I know only of people with very very bad measuring experiences in M&S/John Lewis etc.

eg I was told I was a 36D whilst the bra strap was riding up my back and the cups sitting away from my rib cage! Others have had similar experiences. I really wouldn't trust M&S to measure me again. Many have even been told not to wear underwiring during pg! Have a search on Bravissimo/Figleaves/Rigby&Peller etc to find others who have been wrongly sized.

bobsmum · 08/01/2008 13:23

Ha hahahahah - tall and thin - am 5ft and weigh 11 stone (but am 25 weeks pg)

Shaniece · 08/01/2008 13:24

I might try somewhere else as I have noticed my bras are not comfortable lately hence having the measurement done. I don't think there is a bravissimo in my town though.

peacelily · 08/01/2008 13:25

What's the score with wearing underwiring whilst preg Bobsmum, I was told under no circumstances and I hate all my preg phtos cos I look like I've got 2 sacks of spuds drooping from my chest.

bobsmum · 08/01/2008 13:31

Shaniece - I've never done it yet - but apparently Bravissimo are very good at measuring over the phone .

My fitter last week told me off for waiting until I was 24 weeks pg to get a bigger bra and said I should have phoned or gone in at 15 weeks. Anyway, she said all you have to do is stand in front of the mirror in your bra while on the phone and the fitter lady will ask you your current size and type of bra, how the cup feels, how much isn't/is contained, how the wiring is fitting you, how the back strap sits etc etc. Figleaves should do similar I think.

And for non pg ladies the straps should be fitted at their loosest setting so that as the material stretches you can tighten the fastening. And bras stretch out of shape so much over time that they should be replaced every 5/6 months !!

Having a properly fitted bra (went to B 2 years agao for the first time ever, having been an M&S girl for years) even stopped the back pain I'd been having and I looked way slimmer. It really is better than surgery and much more fun

bobsmum · 08/01/2008 13:37

peacelily - I was on a thread last week on this - will try to find it.

The upshot is the myth is that you will damage milk ducts if you wear underwiring, but as long as your bra is professionally and properly fitted and checked or replaced say 2/3 time in pg then there will be no problems.

I wore minging maternity bras with ds and dd and looked 2 stone heavier than I was - really dreadful. But just before and while I was pg with dd I was undergoing investigation for suspect breast lumps (biopsies/ultrasounds etc) and I spoke at length to my consultant about it and he said it was the fitting that was vital.

If you feel any rubbing or discomfort then get measured again - there should be no redness or sore bits. I guess that goes for non pg ladies too.

Suffice to say, with this pg, I am feeling much better in my 34GG underwired massives, but mega supportive bras. And although I'm a bit overweight I feel fab and dh thinks my rack is great (his words )

And to think I thought I was a 36D for so long!

I know this sounds like a thread hijack, but I really think it makes such a difference to women to have proper fitting underwear - there should be a campaign! Just look at those Trinny/Gok makeover shows and the difference a good bra can make.

Bobsmum you are absolutely right that a good bra beats unnecessary surgery every time, and Bravissimo is a great shop. I walked in there saying am I big enough to shop here? Turned out I am GG cup! Totally agree about M&S being rubbish at bust measuring, though John Lewis was good for maternity bras, I found. Better than NCT actually.

Iklboo · 08/01/2008 14:32

Tell him you will have a boob job and he can have penis enlargement & width extending

DH says I should have a boob enlargement done but seeing as they're something like 44H as it is, he is joking!

BITCATKSTHJT · 08/01/2008 14:56

Well you should only ever consider anything like that if u wanted 2 do it 4 yourself, not 4 someone else. My other half wouldn't dare cause i'd prob slap him 1. I bet u look fantastic as u are. We all worry about how we look' i do all the time, i say 2 myself for god sakes i've had 4 children and i'm only 30. I luv going out with friends and 4getting i'm a mother sometimes. I breastfed all 4 of mine and believe me i sometimes think about surgery i've never been big but the fullness has gone n bras don't fit rite, i get stressed but then my fella of 14yrs, he's not bothered. U need 2 kick him into touch, and u r rite 2 b annoyed!

amazonianwoman · 08/01/2008 15:07

Peacelily - I wore hideous M&S maternity bras when pg with DD, horrible, saggy, shapeless, yuck!

Wore well-fitted underwired ones when pg with DS and have managed to bf for 10mths so far - no blocked ducts

peacelily · 08/01/2008 16:31

I will remember that if there's a next time amazonian, that I can have a bump and a cleavage rather than looking like someone who's forgotten to wear a bra for several years!

Elasticwoman · 08/01/2008 19:58

Bitcat, if a bra doesn't fit right it's the bra's fault not the wearer.

edam · 08/01/2008 20:00

Only read OP - what a cheek. Tell HIM to have surgery - suggest a penis enlargement. And see how keen he is then.
