Got a joiner in fitting flooring this week. From the moment I opened the door to him on his first day he made it clear he wasn’t happy. I said hello and introduced myself and he just sort of grunted.

When the shop owner came out to measure up he told me the joiner could work around my couch. The joiner automatically says that’ll need to be moved (my couch) and that he wasn’t doing it. I said that’s ok and moved it with OH.

Today he didn’t turn up til 12 o’clock. He doesn’t say bye either when he’s done. He just leaves. He sighs all day long and swears at himself. He doesn’t greet me at all when I walk past him and if I try and make conversation he makes it clear he doesn’t want to chat.

The shop told me he’d be finished today (although he’s no where near done). I said do you think you’ll be finished today? He said no and I’ve worked 3 weekends in a row so I’m not working.

Then I heard him on the phone to someone there complaining about his jobs and how busy he is.

It’s so uncomfortable and I’m really thinking about saying something to the shop.

@Coffeekam

Apparently the shop have said he is the best joiner they have. Never had any complaints about his work. His attitude on the other hand they said he is the type of person who should only work in an empty house.
Well words are cheap. I guess they're not going to say he's a useless arse.

Just stay on their backs until the job is done to a good standard 👌

Bless you op that isn't good. I just asked my partner as he is a carpenter and joiner and he is appaled. To the extent he thought i was joking bout the wood easing in the house!! I'm so sorry for you as i know it is difficult to handle people sorry that was not good phrasing but i think you know what i mean. Remember though you are paying for this service and paying good money too it is not a friend doing you a favour this is a working relationship and it is perfectly reasonable for you to say what you are unhappy with etc. All the best xx

Sounds like people were too bloody scared to complain about him tbh and were just glad to have him out of their house!
