I'm just feeling a bit bogged down by some pretty awful things that have happened lately. There are actually lots of good things in my life right now but the cumulative weight of the bad things seems to be taking over. I'd like to hear some nice things to know that the world isn't full of bad. Tell me what's good in your life right now 😊

I got home very early from work, I wasn't really needed in. So it was practically a bonus day off. I live right next to the sea. I spent some time by the shore just watching the sea birds on the cliffs. Then I sat with my cat and we cuddled for about an hour. After that I had a walk around the garden looking at all the new spring growth. Because it was so sunny I got the garden table and chairs out of the shed and read my book outside. A short while ago there was a knock on the door. My neighbour handed me a bag with two Freddos Easter eggs in it. Now I am sat watching Greys anatomy.

I received a letter today saying l am getting pay rise backdated to last April!

Lovely idea for a thread OP - I have a lovely 2 year old DD who makes me laugh everyday and I am totally enthralled watching her grow up. Also have a DS on the way. Both IVF babies - very much longed for. DH is stepping up on the toddler care front which is great.

Things are going well at work, and we are moving to a bigger house in a nice area near a Waitrose (which I won’t be able to afford to shop in for some years! Grin) and good schools.

It is beautifully sunny this week for the move.

Hideously stressed about moving and having zero money with cost of living crises into a maternity leave (we won’t have much furniture for a good few years!) but overall I have many blessings and an truly lucky and thankful right now.

I’ve found myself in that honeymoon phase love bubble - I feel like a giddy teenager 🙈

EmeraldShamrock1 · 23/03/2022 19:32

I feel that way too.
Today was a nice day, good weather, no drama from the DC.
I forget to appreciate the good lately.

NightshiftNancy · 23/03/2022 19:33

My glorious eighteen month old got her first grazed knee today playing outside in the sunshine. She has started using the 'big slide' independently and has spent today laughing her little face off. My two children are now fast asleep after an uncharacteristically easy bedtime and I'm off to see if there's any wine in the house Grin

Elaine2468 · 23/03/2022 19:35

@fromagreatheight I really like the thought of that whale, what a nice image! I'll be using that, thanks.

TheUsualShitshow · 23/03/2022 19:35

Was driving home through a sketchy neighbourhood and saw 3 boys looking through a wire fence at something.

As I drove by I saw about a dozen deer leaping all over this overgrown bit of wasteland. It was fabulous!

BobbinThreadbare123 · 23/03/2022 19:39

The weather has been so nice here - we do get a lot of rain usually - and I have been enjoying walking in my neighbourhood. I'm in a horrible Crohn's disease flare up but the sunshine cheers me up!

bloodywhitecat · 23/03/2022 19:39

Fosterling No.1 had a bloody marvellous time today at forest school, it mainly involved sitting in a stream and splashing water everywhere but for a little one who has had a tough start in life it was magical to watch.

Smorgasbordbaby · 23/03/2022 19:44

We've arranged to go to my husband's cousin's family farm for Easter. I'm really looking forward to catching up with family, relaxing, good food and passing the baby around. We're hopeful for nice weather and my older two are already looking forward to Kubb on the lawn with their cousins and outdoor swimming.

JennyWren87 · 23/03/2022 19:56

Today was such a beautiful day I put my 8 week old baby in the carrier und my 16 month old toddler in the buggy and went for a lovely walk. We've not been out the house much and today felt like the right time.

FavouriteFortnight · 23/03/2022 19:59

I had parents evening this week and the teacher told me that my DS (who has some issues managing his emotions) wrote her a card in class that said “Thank you for helping me feel calm and happy, I love you” and she said she cried!

Bubbean · 23/03/2022 20:10

My daughter is 3 and has developmental delay. She learnt to walk at 2 years and 10 months and has just begun to talk. The last 2 years has been fairly constant appointments, testing and worry.
This week she learnt to say her name when asked, climbed a ladder onto the trampoline and pedalled on her trike! Pure joy and mummy pride 🥳🥰

whataballbag · 23/03/2022 20:19

My 8 year old brought me an open can of Pepsi because he noticed I was painting my nails and wouldn't be able to do it

DoWhatYouLike · 23/03/2022 20:20

I had a horrible time last year - Covid, on a ventilator for 2 weeks, during which time I'd had a stroke- 6 weeks in hospital, then having to "learn" to speak, sit, walk, everything, again.

Now - I'm driving, able to go out and about.
My granddaughters make me smile and it's great to see them every week.
Eldest son starts a new job (a week after redundancy) and has got money for a deposit to buy a flat.
2nd son is happy with his girlfriend, and is settled.
I'm getting a social life together again.
My husband is fit and well.
The weather is good, the clocks go forward this weekend, so evenings will stay lighter for longer.

OfstedOffred · 23/03/2022 20:22

I've spent an hour and a half just chatting away to my sister on the phone tonight. About basically nothing at all. It was lovely.

crepesncream · 23/03/2022 20:29

I was queuing for coffee when a lady walked right up to me and handed me a £5 gift card for the coffee shop and said with a lovely smile.. "enjoy". I was so taken aback. What a lovely gesture. It made my day. Smile

ChurchlightJane · 23/03/2022 20:34

@fromagreatheight

My dog is snuggled in his bed making contented groans.

I missed my pottery class today and my teacher sent me a voice note to say she'd missed me being there.

It's chilly here today but I'm sitting outside under a blanket and enjoying the cold air against my face.

In my tough, busy, overwhelmed moments, I like to remember that somewhere in the world right now, a blue whale is carving its way through the darkness of the ocean, and the idea of that brings me a very odd but very deep joy.

Oh my goodness that's such a beautiful thought. The whale image. I'm going to remember this for a long time.
AuraBora · 23/03/2022 20:43

I spent a blissful spring afternoon at the beach with DH -and new baby. DS (3 weeks old) curled up asleep on my chest as I watched the waves lapping on the shore and people enjoying the sunshine.

chimichangaz · 23/03/2022 20:52

What a lovely thread. Thank you op.

I'm feeling happy and have laughed today more than any day I can remember in a long time. Mostly at a photo of my friends zonked out on the train on the way home after a full on weekend 🤣

I'm on holiday from work for a few days and it honestly feels like schools out!!

I weighed in at SW tonight and was astounded and delighted to have only put on half a pound after a week mostly off plan....

But mostly, the sunshine. What a difference it makes Smile

halfpasteleven · 23/03/2022 20:56

Thank you for the whale image @ChurchlightJane

I'm happy and grateful for the beautiful spring mornings we have had recently and the warm breeze in the evenings.

Nature is wonderful.

I also cannot wait for the long bright evenings that are almost here.

PerseverancePays · 23/03/2022 20:59

My Lupus crash finally lifted yesterday and I was able to get up without crying.
Today my 20 month old grandson came to visit and we walked very slowly around the block in the sunshine . He was very taken with all the daisies that had popped up in people's lawns and was excitedly pointing them out and squatting down beside them to give them a friendly poke with his little fingers.

sunshineandshowers21 · 23/03/2022 21:00

after getting home from a stressful day at work my 14 year old son went to the shop and bought me a huge easter egg and then ran me a bubble bath, with a glass of wine waiting on the edge of the tub for me. i had a luxurious soak reading my book whilst my son did bedtime stories for the three little ones. he’d even put my pyjamas on the radiator ready for when i got out the bath! now sat in my pyjamas eating my easter egg underneath a pile of dogs. absolutely heavenly!

haveyouopenedyourbowelstoday · 23/03/2022 21:03

We are going down to our lovely caravan on Friday. Due to work and covid haven't seen it since September.
I can't wait to be sat on the decking with a cuppa.
