Smirking and laughing as Sunak talks about Ukrainian children huddled in basements seeking protection:

Imagine if Jeremy Corbyn had done this as Labour leader. Or even imagine Starmer or Rayner doing it now. Or… imagine you are giving a serious presentation at work, your boss knows what it is going to cover and he also knows that he needs to show his support for you and what you are saying. As you stand up to start talking he giggles and makes stupid faces at a stakeholder across the room.

If any of these scenarios would annoy you the there is no way to defend Johnson with - oh he just wasn’t listening obviously, that’s fine.

ChiswickFlo · 24/03/2022 13:15

Its a game to him.

A jolly wheeze.

When will people get it????

Roussette · 24/03/2022 13:17

callingon

Spot on. In any other job, or any other role, or with any other person apart from Johnson... they would be shredded. Quite rightly. But somehow, his stupid buffoonery is defended like it's normal?
It's not.
It's awful
It's embarrassing

SueSaid · 24/03/2022 13:24

'Imagine if Jeremy Corbyn had done this as Labour leader. Or even imagine Starmer or Rayner doing it now. Or… imagine you are giving a serious presentation at work'

Yes yes as has been said it was unfortunate that he was distracted. He should have been paying attention! I agree with you. Here's a bit of unrelated whataboutery for you, Biden said 'we can't let Putin invade Russia', so these leaders do make gaffes they are human.

I'm more interested in Bozo's massive support for Ukraine rather than a 16 sec episode in the HOC where he was distracted by someone opposite.

Roussette · 24/03/2022 13:28

Ahhh... someone else's fault then! Blimey. He must be easily distracted and slow to realise when he is.

He does seem prone to this sort of thing doesn't he...

Clavinova · 24/03/2022 13:48

How long does it take to realise someone else is speaking and it's about Ukraine? A split second. Not 16 seconds

That's a lot quicker than it took Captain Hindsight to realise there was
a serious problem with antisemitism in the Labour Party. Keir Starmer's wife is Jewish and the Starmer family belong to a Liberal Jewish Synagogue in London - and yet Starmer sat on Labour's front bench rooting for Corbyn and McDonnell to run the country. Last month, Starmer declared that Jeremy Corbyn was 'wrong on Nato' - it didn't bother him before then? At least Ed Miliband and Yvette Cooper can say they were not in Jeremy Corbyn's shadow cabinet.

Imagine if Jeremy Corbyn had done this as Labour leader. Or even imagine Starmer or Rayner doing it now.

Angela Rayner may have been the distraction - what was she doing at the time?

Roussette · 24/03/2022 13:52

What you say there bears absolutely no resemblance to what this thread is about. Not worth commenting on

Ahhh... all Angela Rayner's fault he has the attention span of a gnat. I knew it would be some woman's fault somehow.

SueSaid · 24/03/2022 14:02

'knew it would be some woman's fault somehow'

How ironic! it's usually apparently Truss and her selfies that are at fault..

Roussette · 24/03/2022 14:04

Truss is at fault for his miniscule attention span? I haven't seen that on here...

Clavinova · 24/03/2022 14:07

Roussette

Yes it does - and you have commented.

You didn't object to comparisons with Theresa May/Abba, Lord North or Slitheens (Doctor Who, Series 1, Episode 4, "Aliens of London").

CapMarvel · 24/03/2022 14:09

Resorting to saying someone else has done something bad as a defence of ANYTHING is utterly pathetic.

But it's really all tory supports have left. What a shambles politics in this country has become.

SueSaid · 24/03/2022 14:09

'Yes it does - and you have commented.'

Whataboutery is only allowed in selected cases clavinova. Same regarding criticising women.

Clavinova · 24/03/2022 14:28

Indeed.

Just looked at the replies in op's twitter link. Photo of Labour's front bench/second bench MPs clearly distracted by their phones when Rachel Reeves was speaking yesterday.

EthelTheAardvark · 24/03/2022 15:45

An error. The person he was laughing at was obviously distracting him

Poor love, it's so difficult to listen to the man starting a massively important speech right next to you when the naughty boy or girl opposite is making faces. Especially when you're Prime Minister and your colleague is talking about the future of the country and a horrendous ongoing war.

I hold no brief for Priti Patel who was on the other side of Sunak, but at least she managed to keep her face straight.

Clav. I have absolutely NO IDEA what you're talking about. What's Doctor Who to do with this? I think you're confusing me with someone else. I haven't seen posts on Abba or Doctor Who!

BitOutOfPractice · 24/03/2022 15:58

@Clavinova you ok?

Blossomtoes · 24/03/2022 16:27

Out of your depth when there’s no convenient material to copy and paste, aren’t you, @Clavinova?

SueSaid · 24/03/2022 16:33

The mocking of c&p < aka actual evidence> baffles me. On the Ukraine threads and the Brexit threads we have a prolific poster posting essays of c&p 24/7, absolute never-ending speeches quoting folk. Never gets told off, ever.

So to be clear is it ok to c&p but only if you agree with the poster?

energywavering · 24/03/2022 16:36

God you lot need a hobby 😆

Blossomtoes · 24/03/2022 18:41

No idea @JaniieJones. I never go near the threads you mentioned.

That's what I thought.

I haven't seen posts on Abba or Doctor Who!

You are not very observant - it's only a short thread. Perhaps you noticed the references to "greedy aliens" and Harold Shipman instead? Grin

Blossomtoes

Not at all - I've only just caught up with the thread - I've been to the park and Pizza Express. You should get out more.

BitOutOfPractice
Clavinova you ok?

Absolutely fine.

Roussette · 24/03/2022 20:01

Nope. Clav. Didn't notice that either. All seems a bit weird to me.

Call me unobservant if you like, no worries

Kendodd · 24/03/2022 21:08

he clearly doesn't give a shit about anyone other than himself so why would he care about Ukraine? It's all one big game to him.
Actually I bet he's thanking his lucky start that Putin invaded Ukraine, nice distraction from all Johnson's lock down parties.

Blossomtoes · 24/03/2022 21:10

I should get out more? 😂😂😂😂

EthelTheAardvark · 24/03/2022 22:42

The mocking of c&p < aka actual evidence> baffles me

It's precisely because it isn't evidence that it gets mocked. It has nothing to do with the thread.
