Smirking and laughing as Sunak talks about Ukrainian children huddled in basements seeking protection:
@turnthebiglightoff This thread is about who we can vote for. A party with a Buffon as a leader, but who recognises the biological reality that 51% of the voting population are women or one who can’t even bring himself to say that a woman had a cervix. I have voted labour all my life and I can’t anymore due to this. So this thread is actually about this. The women who are targeted in wartime are suffering because of their sex, because they are mainly the carers for children, because they are physically weaker. We matter!
Strange. As the person who began the thread, I can confidently say that it is purely and simply about what an embarrassment Johnson ia as Prime Minister, not about "who we can vote for"; and certainly not about the sodding trans debate.

I know threads can take off in all directions, but you can't attribute a purpose to the thread that simply didn't exist when it was started.

He's a dick and a total embarrassment to the entire nation.

Probably working out which hedgehog to brush his hair with tomorrow.

EthelTheAardvark · 23/03/2022 23:25

And that tweet is clearly nonsense. He's laughing at something with someone across the aisle before Sunak starts talking about huddling kids, and puts on a sombre face (so far as he has one) as soon as the talk of basements starts

The comment on the tweet is purely factual - Johnson was indeed laughing and pulling faces while Sunak talking about huddling kids. At no point in that clip is his face sombre.

You couldn't imagine even his two predecessors behaving like this, and that's saying something because they were pretty useless also.

I cannot abide Johnson, believe he's the worst Prime Minister in a very long time indeed, and would vote for just about anyone else (current Conservative front bench excluded). But I'm afraid that tweet, and your defence of it, is pretty desperate stuff.
EthelTheAardvark · 24/03/2022 07:31

Well no, the evidence is there in the clip. He slightly rearranges his mouth, but he's still smiling.

Absolutely

And the post regarding woman was directly after the ‘dont vote tory’ post which seems fair enough

I haven’t seen the relevant clip but even at the best of times ive no idea what goes through that mans head!

balalake · 24/03/2022 08:24

@BanjoKnockers I think he is the worst Prime Minister ever. Even worse than Lord North.

BitOutOfPractice · 24/03/2022 08:36

@Natfemale

At least he knows what a woman is, and is prepared to say so.
The day Johnson is held up as a shining champion of women’s rights is a dark one indeed.

The simple fact is that Johnson really doesn't care about what Ukrainians are going through and was much more interested in whatever was amusing him.

Oh stop it. You're just making stuff up. It's clear Johnson was engaging with a shadow cabinet member and there were a lot of people laughing and chatting er RS after the last point, whatever it was. Not just Johnson. As soon as he heard what RS was saying, he broke contract and started nodding.
When you make a mountain out of a molehill like this, you just drive people away from listening to legitimate criticism of him because they stop taking you seriously.

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 24/03/2022 08:46

In all fairness he's laughing at something that was previously said. He should have stopped quicker though but he's not laughing at that. He's definitely a dick but not a psychopath

StScholastica · 24/03/2022 08:50

They kicked out Teresa May and replaced her with this giant cocktail. At least the worst she did on the embarrassment scale was a weak shimmy to Abba. It is mortifying to be British right now.

NETSRIK · 24/03/2022 08:51

How is he still in this job????

Looking forward to the apparently not corrupt met allow him to get away with the parties....while trying to explain why the rest of us play to different rules.

Him and his government and his supporters are a joke.

BanjoKnockers · 24/03/2022 08:51

I don't think Lord North is his real competition. It's Theresa May!

Kendodd · 24/03/2022 08:58

I'm just praying he doesn't go to Ukraine for a photo opportunity, open his big mouth and make the situation 10x worse. Better he's sat in the HoC laughing.

Kendodd · 24/03/2022 09:01

Him and his government and his supporters are a joke.
Unfortunately they are very powerful though and I'm sure much to Putin's delight delivered Brexit.

doublemonkey · 24/03/2022 09:01

@Nightlystroll

The man's an idiot but he wasn't smirking at Sunak talking about Ukranian children. He was obviously in a non-verbal exchange with someone on the shadow front bench over the previous subject. Sunak then started to talk about the Ukranian children and it took Johnson a couple of seconds to take on board the new topic and he then nodded in support of what RS was saying. He never laughed at people suffering or dying.
This.

Anyone who's looking at that clip and can't see that Boris was laughing BEFORE Sunak even started speaking is caught in a purity spiral. Is he supposed to be psychic now??

Absolutely ridiculous 🙄.

Mistlewoeandwhine · 24/03/2022 09:05

It’s a disgrace that he is still PM. As for the poster who said that at least he knows what a woman is, shame on you. The far right always have fixed ideas about sex and gender. It doesn’t make him a decent person or effective at his job. So many thousands have died due to covid and poverty because of his vile neo-Lib policies.And what about the Russian Report? What about his illegal parties? What about his casual racism and sexism?
All of our lives are less good than they were 20 years ago because of the Tories creaming off all the money in this country.. Labour aren’t perfect in many ways but I will always vote for them because BJ is a perfect example of a Tory.

Sharrowgirl · 24/03/2022 09:12

I don’t think it’s he was laughing at kids in basements, I think he wasn’t listening. Which is slightly better, but not much.

callingon · 24/03/2022 09:19

Perhaps he should be listening to Rishi Sunak? Are we now at try the post where we acknowledge Boris Johnson has significant cognitive processing difficulties and it’s a reasonable adjustment to give him 5 seconds to process verbal language?

LakieLady · 24/03/2022 09:24

@Natfemale

At least he knows what a woman is, and is prepared to say so.
But he does nothing to support women economically. Women are more likely to be low paid than men, more likely to be single parents, more likely to be carers etc.

I doubt if his interest in women as a group extends beyond their shaggability.

LakieLady · 24/03/2022 09:28

@longwayoff

I think Angela Rayner needs to keep her wits about her, Bozo has a glint in his eye when she does PMQs. Don't accept a lift home, Angela.
I like to thinkthat Angela Rayner is gutsy type who'd him in the nadgers if he got gropey with her.

And even if she isn't, I suspect she finds him as repulsive as I do.

CapMarvel · 24/03/2022 09:29

@Getoff

Anyone who really believes he was laughing at or about what Sunak was talking about should have their vote taken away from them, they are too stupid to vote.

This is just a political troll thread. Many like it get started on here. I would like to think that the Labour party is paying some agency to get people to to start threads like these, but the depressingly mundane truth is that the world is fully of petty spiteful people who will spout this nonsense for free.

Oh, so he just wasn't actually listening to the chancellor giving a speech concerning a cost of living crisis?

You realise that's barely any better, right?

callingon · 24/03/2022 09:34

I also don’t think Boris Johnson gives a shit about women issues or trans issues, he’s realised it’s politically expedient to sound like he wants to enshrine sex based rights, without actually setting out what that means in practice. As far as I’m aware Keir Starmer has a better record as DPP of standing up for womens’ rights than Boris could ever hope to have.
