Is 32 too old to start a degree?

That’s all really. Tired of being in the job I am in and would love to go and get a degree? Anybody else done this with young children?

Have you got the qualifications you need to be able to go straight in to a degree?

It might be worth checking that out as well as any financial entitlement.

Just to add aswell OP I split with my kids dad at the end of my first year. I’ve still done it with wrap around childcare and grandparents help.

If you do end up doing it as a single parent you will get 85% of your childcare costs covered, a 12k student loan and a UC top up and child benefit.

It’s really depressing that I feel like I failed somehow because I didn’t do it before children. Surely lots of women are in this situation and luckily DH is a very high earner?

no, of course not
I'd ask about the average age group on the course - a mix of school leavers and mature students would be fine, you and the rest of the students would probably be tedious.
Why not look at whether you can join a post graduate course as a mature student? I did my MSc at 45, hadn't had the opportunity to do a first degree.

I started my degree at 45. Finished at 49 and managed to get a job!

I went to law school at 28, have never regretted it. Am 62 now snd love my job and life. Wouldn't be possible without my degree. (Hated previous low paying job.)

Hi, I trained to be a healthcare professional at 32, I was the single mum of 3 under 8s, one with special needs.
I love my career now and lectured at my old university for a few years.
I'd go for it.
