I was just challenged when the words, "I can't admit when I'm wrong or I've made a mistake, say I'm sorry or backtrack as it will make me less of a man!" came out of the mouth of a teenage boy.

Please help me with a cool, teen-friendly example (book, podcast, film...anything(!) to show him how this belief is so very far from the truth. I don't even know where to start looking.

He won't listen to me (what do I know?!) and he hasn't learned this attitude from home - his dad and brothers aren't like this at all. He's a prickly, uptight teen, he needs to want to change, to want to be open to seeing a different way.

Thank you!

Well he’s not wrong in that boys are socialised to believe this piece of toxic masculinity. Have you had any discussions about sex based socialisation and toxic masculinity and femininity? Now might be the time to have that discussion about socialisation pressuring boys and girls into toxic behaviours and beliefs.

Have you considered an anger management workbook? There's a few for teens on amazon. Big life journal does a teens one too.

I've just asked my teens if they've heard of Reddit. The one in question said he used it for a while. He said it's used by xxx and the xxx ironically described some of his least likeable qualities. I asked him if he's heard of mysogony. He could say it better than me. He said, 'it's hard to avoid, it's like social media propaganda'. I think there's my answer right there. Now to tackle it. Thanks for your insights.
