To be stressing about the fact I’ve had 13 days off since september

Honestly, is it pretty bad as far as time off is concerned? I’ve never had such a lot of time off and feel so bad.

Days off sick? There’ll be a policy where you work about it so have a look

FitzChivarly · 21/03/2022 07:53

Depends on why you had the time off really.

Blueblossompinksky · 21/03/2022 07:54

I know the policy but just wondering if they are thinking flake … I’ve had 3 days child illness 9 covid and 2 sick days me. So 14 actually. Can’t add up.

On the face of it, yes it sounds bad.

Why have you been off? Has it all been sick leave? Is there anyway you can reduce this moving forward?

Mummy1608 · 21/03/2022 07:55

Any of them due to covid? I had to take two weeks off for that alone. I don't feel guilty at all, I was ill

Mummy1608 · 21/03/2022 07:56

Sorry just seen your numbers. Yanbu at all, i and many of my colleagues have had a similar number of days off. There's been a pandemic!

Mummy1608 · 21/03/2022 07:57

Also covid sick days are counted separately, at least they are at schools

ThinWomansBrain · 21/03/2022 07:57

given that a lot of it was covid, I wouldn't worry too much
Do you take "sick" days when your children are sick, or is that another category of leave?

Blueblossompinksky · 21/03/2022 07:59

Yeah it’s counted separately just worried it doesn’t stop people thinking, if you see what I mean. I’ve always explained that dc is unwell when I’ve had time off for that.

So would it ha e been better to go to work with Covid then? Of course not.

Glassesmare · 21/03/2022 08:00

Same here. 6 days off with covid, 2 days off with ill child, 1 day sickness. It did trigger a review but my employers can see 6 days were completely out of my control and they also know that my DH has had more time off with the DCs being ill than I have. A lot of the time these things are out of our control.

Pbjontoast · 21/03/2022 08:01

I imagine it depends on how they are grouped together and the reasons you rang in sick. As in, 2 weeks absence at once because you broke a bone for example would be understandable; 14 separate days off for unrelated illnesses I would have thought would be flagged up at work.

Do you have an OH department? If you're consistently off for 1off days with migraines for example, they may speak to you to see if anything can be done to help you.

Pbjontoast · 21/03/2022 08:03

Sorry, cross posted with your update!

Covid sick days were separate at my workplace when I had it.

If the law said you have to stay at home for ten days, you had to stay at home for ten days. It would be pretty shitty to come after you for high sickness levels if it included that.

girlmom21 · 21/03/2022 08:06

How long have you worked there?

Blueblossompinksky · 21/03/2022 08:09

It was 5 in fact at the time but managed to get it twice. I know that legally I had to but I don’t think it prevents people getting a bad sort of overall impression if you follow me.

I think it’s been a really difficult time. My kids have been ill constantly with various things since all the social distancing has been dropped. If dh didn’t work flexibly my sickness would probably be worse than yours and before this I’d had virtually no time off.

GreenNewDealNow · 21/03/2022 08:18

I find it interesting how my employers are anti-illness yet they dropped the mask mandate as soon as it was legal to do so. Staff illness from Covid shot up right away!

WillYouDoTheFandango · 21/03/2022 08:23

I think it depends on your company’s attitude to sickness, how long you’ve been there and how reliable you are usually.

I’ve had 20 days off since October due to flu, covid and an accident. I’ve never had more than 4 days off in a year before so work have been concerned for me as a person but not complained about my sickness record.

Blueblossompinksky · 21/03/2022 08:31

I have only been there since September. I don’t have a poor sickness record prior to this but of course it’s not that they are bothered about.

girlmom21 · 21/03/2022 08:34

Have you had any kind of 6 month review?

Phyllis321 · 21/03/2022 08:34

I'm off today and feeling a bit guilty but I never skive, they've all been genuine reasons.

Blueblossompinksky · 21/03/2022 08:35

No reviews.

I wouldn’t want to work for a company that took issue with sick days during a pandemic.
