to think this house is great if you don't want nearby neighbours?!

Living in a typical suburban semi on an estate where the non attached neighbours are only 8ft away...plus the ones over the road, behind etc this looks like paradise to me.

Unfortunately its too small for us, we need more space downstairs and 4 beds, and an extension that big would cost ££££s (our total budget is £400k). Nice to dream of views and no immediate neighbours though!

@bozzabollix

Why do people think anything rural and with space around it is spooky?

I live in the woods, you’d be absolutely bricking it here, scared of the foxes, badgers and very twinkly stars that you can see properly in the dark.

I don't think everywhere in the countryside is creepy, but that house is! I lived rurally as a teenager and I was probably put off country life by going out one morning when it snowed and finding footprints that showed someone had crept around our house and was trying to peer in my bedroom window! Give me leafy suburbia any day!

I don't believe people are scared of wildlife or stars Confused It's more intruders/burglars

Yeah, this. Surely isolated houses are prime targets for burglars?
dudsville · 20/03/2022 10:08

I love that and it's exactly the kind of thing I want to have for my end of days but my googling never results in this. How does one find this in a rightmove search?

EmmaH2022 · 20/03/2022 10:11

@Nomoreneighbours

it's less than 10 mins from a supermarket! I live in a town currently and although I have a corner shop at the bottom of the road, my nearest supermarket is further away.

It does have a neighbour on one side but at a decent distance.

I'm thinking of taking a drive past next week just to be nosey. And see exactly how bad the traffic noise is.

Ooh, let us know if you do that!
Justkeeppedaling · 20/03/2022 10:17

It's a bit too close to the noisy A5 for me, but otherwise lovely.

Nomoreneighbours · 20/03/2022 10:18

@dudsville keyword search can help, so you can search by 'acre', 'views' etc - basically anything that you want in your dream house.

We want half an acre or so ideally, so it using acre as a keyword helps us to filter. And then I rule out anything that's right on the road (in Shropshire you get a lot of houses that are next to the road, but with lots of land to the side or rear, I'd rather be set back a bit). That said this is the closest to what I want - apart from being too small! - that I've seen so far.

Aha, thank you!

Myee · 20/03/2022 12:00

Didn't you all know that the UK is full, full I tell you, no room for any housing at all either for natives or immigrants.

Doesn't look like it to me from the photo.

The house is cute, and would be lovely for someone who was born and bred very rural. The idyll would soon fade for those used to services on the doorstep. I could not live so remotely, but my DP who is from a rural area would love it.

bozzabollix · 20/03/2022 16:05

@Seema1234 really lovely now I’m used to it, could hear my own heart too much the first night but it’s bliss now.

EmeraldShamrock1 · 20/03/2022 16:14

I'd be frightened of intruders in a secluded area, burglaries and menaces are very common in secluded areas, Police services are not great in the countryside.

Not half as common as they are in inner cities. Police services aren’t great anywhere. At least in the country emergency services aren’t having to fight their way through swathes of traffic.
42andcounting · 20/03/2022 17:01

@Seema1234

The area looks flat and boring. I have to have some hills.
It's about 3 miles away from The Wrekin, which is a pretty big and spectacular hill. Walking the Wrekin was always a bank holiday activity when I lived near there as a kid. It's a lovely spot Grin
wtfwasthatmate · 21/03/2022 02:58

I love rural houses but that one looks a bit murder-y

spotcheck · 21/03/2022 03:16

Definitely looks haunted👻

That house is beautiful and what a amazing big window ans view! It just could do with being alittle less remote. I'd love that view at the back and a neighbour or too at the front maybe but at a little distance!

@Nomoreneighbours

You asked how I found out the house was sold in August 2021.

I typed the house address into Google. No mention of the price paid, but the following information came up:-

3 Bluebell, Uppington, Telford – SOLD STC - Madeleys ...www.madeleys.co.uk › 3-bluebell-uppington-ba...
17 Aug 2021 — A detached two bedroom cottage set within large grounds extending to approximatively 0.67acres with scope for redevelopment/ extension and ...

It might've been that the sale fell through and it was taken off the market because there's no sale record

Nomoreneighbours · 21/03/2022 19:20

Thanks @UsernameNotAvailableHmm - I didn't think of just googling it!

I wonder if that sale might have fallen through, possibly when they found out the cost of the septic tank. Or perhaps there were other issues...on the plus side its nice to see the price was the same last year, everything else I've seen has gone up 20-30% from a previous sold or asking price, even if nothing's been done to the property in that time!

Which get out of the way pretty smartish when they see a blue light.
Chipsahoy · 21/03/2022 19:42

We live very rurally. Don’t have any issues with mice or any other vermin. Old stone cottage with insulation so we do ok for heat. No problems with the septic tank and oil costs less than gas.. well not at present.

@Nomoreneighbours

That's true, the sale could've fallen through and the house has been put back on the market.

Sometimes the agents know a little about the history, but whether they would tell you is another matter!

Amazing big windows from which you can see a line of huge pylons marching up the hill.
