If so what sort of job are you in? Do you see working from home as a benefit?

I am a project manager and work from home and have done for the last 20 years or so - I used to go out a couple of times a week to client sites but now I am mostly at home. I love it, can't imagine going back to an office now.

Project/workforce management, previously full time wfh with my previous consultancy company.

Now doing a lead role on a mega project, 0.8 FTE and typically do 50/50 which works really well.

I can get the house in order, be in for the cleaners & food delivery, prep food, do laundry etc & not have to eat into weekend or time spend with DC.

I have been wfh for the last two years and I think there are positives and negatives. It is much easier to do the school run, the washing and avoids the rushing between work and school. But it is quite lonely and I have put on weight because I am not rushing about. There is a temptation to look forward to the next cup of tea and biscuit (or two).

Desk-based public sector job, now WFH some of the week and in office other days. Was solely WFH until early this year.

I much prefer having a mix. It feels like I get the benefits of working from home (no commute time, cheaper) without too much of the downsides (isolating, no work-life separation).

Yes, I do. I run an online health business and I am a writer.

BigSandyBalls2015 · 18/03/2022 15:40

PA. I went into the office yesterday and found it very noisy and distracting. I did enjoy the drinks after though Grin

I've just finished my first ever full week of wfh. The piece of work I've completed in one hour this afternoon would literally have taken all day with the dozens of completely legitimate interruptions I'd have had in my last job in the office. I've taken in 2 parcels, hung up almost all my washing, taken a call from the hospital that would have ended up being weeks to resolve. I've got 90 minutes extra in my day as I'm not commuting, and as such I'm not arriving at home or work frazzled from traffic.

Yes, local government, love it, but worked from home before covid

Boating123 · 18/03/2022 16:29

Local government. I like it.
I work 5 mornings a week and have a pleasant walk to and from nursery which gets me out of the house.
I really like not needing to use my car that much.

whowhatwhen · 18/03/2022 19:16

Only since covid. I work in consulting, pre-covid would have been working at my clients offices. We have re-purposed our office space to be focussed on client showcase or team collaboration, no expectation to be in at all unless you want to be. I don't see it as a benefit, I enjoy it and it works for me and home life. I'm in the office 1-2 days a week, some are more and some are less.

TheEarthIsNotFlat · 18/03/2022 19:21

Yes. Full time, NHS regional director. Love it and don’t want to go back to the office.

orangetriangle · 18/03/2022 19:31

I think people in their fifties and beyond like myself enjoy it a lot more than those in their 20s and 30s I think the younger people benefit from hybrid working I dont think many older people do

dipdye · 18/03/2022 19:31

LOVE wfh.

Work in insurance.

sausagepastapot · 18/03/2022 20:17

I'm an interpreter and I absolutely love WFH.
