Asking what I should do while I'm still young.

I'm 26 and conscious that while I'm getting older, I'm still somewhat young ish and from wasting so many previous years want to do what kind of things I should be doing either for fun or for insurance to avoid regret while I'm older. What do you think? What kind of things should I be doing while I'm still somewhat young?

Start a pension
Travel
Work abroad
Take up loads of hobbies
If you can, buy a house & get lodgers in to pay your mortgage.

Travel, and get fit/stay fit!

If you are single have lots of good experimental sex. Men and women of many different types and persuasions.

Take the time to figure out what you actually want. You've already had plenty of 'travel', 'have children', 'find a good man', 'study', 'have lots of sex' suggestions. All valid suggestions, but what do you actually want? It's not necessarily an easy question to answer, but it's an important one.

Morbid I know, but talk to the generations above you about their lives. There are so many questions you will wish you'd asked when they're gone now this, I absolutely agree with. Assuming that you have people in your life with whom you want to have such conversations. My Nan made the best soup ever. I have so many beautiful childhood memories of being comforted with a bowl of her soup. My BIL urged us for ages to have her show us how to make it while she still could. Oh we fully intended to. And then she was gone. And with her, that soup. Lots of other things too, which I miss massively, but oh how I regret never learning how to make that soup.

Those saying pension. Do you mean an additional pension to the 5% auto enrolment pension?

I'm not a financial adviser so I don't know if it's best to put it in there or set up a separate one invested in something else. But yes, get as much as you can in there.

5% isn't enough and I wish someone had told me this earlier
