Insomnia is ruining my life. Is there anything else I can do?

I’m 47 and absolutely knackered all the time. It’s effecting my relationships and making me depressed and anxious.
I’ve been on HRT for 6 months, and now on an oestrogen patch of 75 (for 6 weeks). I’ve cut out caffeine, I don’t drink alcohol, I go to bed and get up at the same time each day, I don’t eat after 6pm, I exercise regularly and am not overweight. I get outside in the morning daylight, I don’t go on my phone in the evening, I take multivitamins, vitamin d omega 3 and evening primrose, I’ve tried mindfulness. I tried CBD and Nytol 50 mg which made absolutely no difference.
I’m desperate for a good nights sleep. I can generally get to sleep, no problem but wake after a few hours. Is there anything I’ve not tried? Help!

@GarlandsinGreece

I would recommend either low dose Trazadone or Doxepin.

Avoid Ambien and benzos like the plague—horrid side effects.

Pity you’re not in the US. I have a medical marijuana license for insomnia and it’s changed my life. I take a tincture or gummies. Absolute guarantee of 6-8 hours sleep and zero side effects or grogginess.

You have my every sympathy. I’ve struggled with insomnia since becoming autoimmune and it’s totally soul-destroying.

Really? I’ve never tried Ambien but have used temazepam on a number of occasions. Recently I have had to go through a bout of insomnia without them because I couldn’t get another prescription at my last GP appointment. Had to use Restavit instead out of desperation. The restavit hangovers I get are terrible while I feel refreshed the morning after using temazepam.

I know the reasons why GPs are wary to prescribe sleeping tablets but when it gets to the point where you can’t perform at work and driving is dangerous then I think it’s fine to use them to break the insomnia cycle. Better than having people buy them on the black market like a PP admitted to.

Vitamin B12 injections. Deficiency is more common as we age & insomnia is a big symptom. If you can't digest it, which is what happens for various reasons, then pills don't help, but with skew blood tests

Otherwise Weighted blanket & binaural beats music are my go to. I've even discovered BB for snorers & it actually works to shut DH up Grin

Don’t know if it’s just a coincidence but for the last 3 nights, following suggestions here, I’ve had a cup of warm milk and taken magnesium citrate at 9pm and I’ve slept through from 11 until 5ish which is amazing. I almost daren’t post this for fear of jinxing it!
