My DC asked for a Colin Caterpillar cake for their birthday, carefully brought it home but it's broken in 2 😱
I'm crap at any type of artsy, bakery stuff, what can I do ?
Your help would be much appreciated !!

@PoAhOh

I carefully chose Colin as there were some broken ones, I think he wasn't iced to the board well enough so when the bag moved so did Colin 🥺

He cost £7 which I can't really afford again and I'm not a huge fan of chocolate cake !
I'll go shopping again tomorrow and try fixing him on Thursday. Don't worry I'll show you how he looks 😁

You've really made my day, haven't laughed so much in ages 😍

Thank you again, really great ideas. I'll see if I can buy him an extra head and make 2 or whether it will be easier sticking him back together ! I've been worried about totally spoiling him, might still happen 😂

Honestly if you genuinely didn't do anything to damage it you have good reason to ask to exchange it. If it wasn't firmly iced to the board and therefore not boxed correctly that's not your fault. A cake shouldn't break in two being carried carefully in a bag.

Obviously if you dropped it on the floor or whacked the bag of something that's different, but you've nothing to lose taking it back and asking if they will swap it.

There will be loads of fragile items like this damaged in transit, or through customers messing with them and putting them back on the shelf.

@EvilPea

Is it a clean break? It’s only chocolate topped. So a hot knife might melt and smooth it together. Or melt some more chocolate and use it as glue

@EvilPea

Don't know why, but 'is it a clean break' really tickled me!!

Show us a pic of the broken Colin so we have a before and after!

Sorry if I've disappointed anyone but I decided to take Colin back to M&S to see what they'd say, what was the worst they could say anyway !

A lovely lady offered replacement immediately 🙂

There were loads of broken Colins on the shelf so beware if you get one, I wiggled him on the cake board to make sure he didn't move !

Thanks for the fab ideas though 🎂

great result op

It freezes really well so I'd slice him up then freeze and have a slice occasionally. Then buy a new one for your DD.

@TheSpottedZebra

Buy a bag of baby colins and declare with a straight face that they're his babies.
Or do this!
