Would you be bothered to do a 2 hour club after work?

Work a 9 hour shift, then get in around 5:45pm. It's a local class that's 7:30-9:30pm.

I feel like i should be putting in the effort but I just can't be bothered with a 2 hour club after a day at work, plus I've got shopping and cooking to do

I don't need to go to bed until around 11:30pm but I like having time at home. If it were an hour class I'd be much more likely. Would you do it?

Back in work 9am tomorrow too

If it's something I enjoyed, then yes. Otherwise your life just becomes work, chores and bed.

Depends what it is.
If it is something I enjoy, then yes, of course I would.
Like pp, I go to choir rehearsal each week. It is completely different from work and I come out feeling "lifted" rather than drained. Others will feel the same about playing badminton, or running a Brownie Pack, or crafting, or whatever rejuvenates them.

Indeed, I have just finished a 2 hour meeting of something I volunteer for - not the most fun part of the hobby, but all the logistics and planning etc has to be done or the 'fun bits' don't happen. Every event, indeed every organisation needs organisers.

Well I regularly work til 8 ish at night if not later so finishing at 5.45 would feel like a luxury. What on earth do you do for 5 hours!!! I’d definitely be using the spare time productively such as with a club. Still several hours left til bedtime!

bumblingbovine49 · 14/03/2022 22:33

I regularly go to choir practice from 7.15pm to 9.15pm on Monday evenings.( Went tonight in fact) I usually get in from work at about 6pm / 6.15 pm and it is a 10 min drive so a rush to get there. I sometimes feel like I can't be bothered when I get home but I always go and always feel it is worth it afterwards

Even on the rare occasions when DH is not home on Monday evenings, I still manage to cook something , feed DS and myself and go . DS can stay home alone now but I've been going since he was small but I've always managed to get childcare for the odd occasion DH was not available when DS needed it . It was always worth it to me

Surely it depends what the activity is and how much you enjoy it. I do a 2.5 house lesson each week after work and love it.

kitcat15 · 14/03/2022 23:54

I wouldnt

Tumbleweed101 · 15/03/2022 07:08

Yes, I don’t finish work til after 6pm some nights but would make time once a week for something I’d enjoy. Not so much something I was doing that I felt I should be doing. For example a pottery class or something relaxing. Not the gym which would feel like something I should do rather than want to.

Tumbleweed101 · 15/03/2022 07:09

My children are old enough to cook for all of us now though. I might feel differently with smaller children to care for.

randomsabreuse · 15/03/2022 11:32

Yes. Assuming I wanted to do the activity... Pretty well always did because a 1 hour session is very short for my sport.

Would want minimum 1.5 hours for a band/orchestra as well.

Ponoka7 · 15/03/2022 11:35

If it's something that you enjoy then yes. Clubs are supposed to be for you and add something to your life.

Jonny1265 · 15/03/2022 11:50

It would depend on what it is. I attend a choir from 7.30-9.30pm and I'm back home for just before 10. Sometimes I don't feel motivated to go but I always feel better having gone. I just have to remember that to give me the kick to go!

NorthernSoul55 · 15/03/2022 12:40

I'm another one who goes to a choir on a weekday evening. I'm not working now but my job was very stressful and choir was the perfect antidote to that. I also played in a pub games team another evening, sadly a casualty of covid.
