To never use Tesco Delivery again

Maggiesgirl · 13/03/2022 16:58

Delivery due between 3 & 4, so at ten to 4 I started to track it in real time. At 4.15, it dropped off the tracking. I go outside, nope no Tesco Van.

Wait till 4.30 then ring. On their computer it's stating unable to deliver. I WAS SAT IN THE WINDOW WAITING!

Te guy on the phone can't get hold of the driver, nor the store its coming from.

I've told them to just refund me.

This is the 4th time in 18 months this has happened.

Yes I live in the middle if Salisbury Plain. Yes the road through is small.
But, every house is numbered ours is actually on our gate.
A fucking Hiab truck got through with our new fences though yesterday and found us!

I am also disabled so that means DH who has taken time off to put said new fences up will have to take time out tomorrow to go shopping.

Never had an issue with them personally I think it’s store dependant Asda and Sainsbury’s are awful round here but Tesco’s very good.

BobblyBlueJumper · 13/03/2022 17:00

I've stopped using Tesco recently as well after a spate of similar incidents.

Home delivery should be convenient not hanging round the house for something that doesn't arrive and then having to find time to do a shop.

Tesco haven't even offered any vouchers for the inconvenience.

BambinaJAS · 13/03/2022 17:02

They are occasionally late due to terrible weather (thats reasonable) but never had an issue.

Agree that its lilely location specific. We are in East Surrey.

Baaaa · 13/03/2022 17:04

Tesco is the best one round here. Sainsburys are awful.

Grenlei · 13/03/2022 17:05

I used to get home delivery about once every couple of months before I passed my driving test. Tesco were generally ok (I do think it is very store dependent) but I always had issues with Asda and in the end stopped using them after they called me 10 mins before my delivery was due to say the driver was going home ill and did I want to come to the shop and collect it (and they'd g nervously reimburse my delivery charge!!)? Well no, because I don't have a car which is why I was getting it delivered. That was the last time I used them.

LemonsLimes · 13/03/2022 17:06

It sometimes updates to say it has delivered but then comes a bit later. I'd give it a bit longer

Maggiesgirl · 13/03/2022 17:06

It's such a bloody nightmare each time. I was shielding for what seemed like forever so only DH could go shopping, and as he is a Keyworker it wasn't always easy for him too, so when it happened before it was even more of a bloody Nuisance.

To be fair none of them are very good around here. We often get missed by all deliveries if they are running late as we are so out of the way. Yodel is terrible it's a 50/50 chance if we get a delivery with them

It's not as if we live on the Outer Hebrides ( actually they probably get better service)

We are just bang centre of the Plain, two miles from the main road.

I never have a problem here but I’m in a city. I take it you have clear instructions for the driver?

Maggiesgirl · 13/03/2022 17:07

@LemonsLimes as I've said I rang, they reckon I wasn't in.

I’ve had more issues with Asda who like to cancel my order with no notice and take 5 days to refund me which is really handy when I’ve used the last of my money to afford the food shop in the first place

Maggiesgirl · 13/03/2022 17:08

@Karwomannghia it's not hard to find, just out if the way. One road through.

MrsMigginsCat · 13/03/2022 17:11

I think it's store dependent. The Tesco near us is great, but I got a delivery for DS at uni and they left it in the middle of the road in the dark, because there was a football match at the stadium next to his halls and they couldn't be bothered to go and find the actual entrance.

Bearsinmotion · 13/03/2022 17:14

I gave up with Tesco after I got home over half an hour before my slot to find it all piled up on the doorstep so I couldn’t get into the house. There’s a reason I book that slot, because I am not in half an hour earlier…

fairylightsandwaxmelts · 13/03/2022 17:14

I really think it's area/store dependent.

We use Tesco and have never ever had an issue. Morrison's were good for ages but recently they've been a nightmare and ASDA apparently don't show up half the time.

sqirrelfriends · 13/03/2022 17:17

Asda did this to me - really last minute and I haven't used them since.

Round here Morrisons are awful and always send out of date or rotten stuff. They once couldn't find a suitable substitute for organic milk...

Ocado are the best I've used, surprisingly affordable as well as long as you don't order too much meat.

FudgeSundae · 13/03/2022 17:18

Round here they’re worse on Sundays so I’ve switched to Mondays and now have no issues.

NETSRIK · 13/03/2022 17:19

Asda are by far the worst. Their online grocery customer service staff have no clue what is going on. I got told that my order was 4 hours late due to the heavy rain. This was on the hottest day of the year. They then didn't deliver the order but debited by account for it and took days and days to refund me.

SnowyPetals · 13/03/2022 17:23

It might be worth asking around locally to see if other supermarkets have similar problems. If not, then it's worth changing, but if it is more because you are in a slightly remote location then you're likely to get the same issues. Sounds like that is more likely to be the issue based on your experience with other deliveries though.

Maggiesgirl · 13/03/2022 17:30

Yes others can be bad too, although Amazon always turn up on time.

Just because we are remote - which when you think about is when you are more likely to need a delivery - should not mean that you get bad service.

Dimebag10M · 13/03/2022 17:43

I only shop Ocado or Amazon Fresh because I have heard horror stories about everyone else
.. plus you can get same day delivery which is a god send for a mentally / physically disabled person like me!

Maggiesgirl · 13/03/2022 17:47

I'm disabled to. Think I may try Amazon Fresh

I use Asda for food delivery, they are always on time, My place is quite difficult to find,, I am off road, down a little track, I live in a very ancient little cottage, and only have one door at the back. But have a largish house number in the garden at the front...On a couple of ocassions when they were late,, the driver sent me a text, to say he had a problem with his van. and one where the road was blocked with a huge fallen tree in the road., But they got here in the end after a short while.

WeirdArchitecture · 13/03/2022 17:50

Hang on, fresh food on amazon seems to only come from morrisons, am i wrong?
I hate morrisons, sadly.

I use ocado and theyre always bob on, but i do spend more and that's a bit of a bugger. At least £10 to £15 more expensive than when i shop elsewhere.

insancerre · 13/03/2022 17:53

My Tesco order came at 3.30 instead of between 4-5
It often arrives early

Luxecalmeetvolupte · 13/03/2022 18:06

Feeling your pain OP. After the umpteenth late order yesterday, with absolutely no communication, we have voted with our feet, cancelled our Delivery Saver pass (which we've had for 5yrs +) and got an Ocado one. I know everywhere is having staffing and supply issues, but there is such a thing as respect for customers and we'd rather pay slightly more for reliability. Realise we are fortunate to be able to afford that, but main reason we get deliveries is due to my disability as well, so it matters.
