To never use Tesco Delivery again

Maggiesgirl · 13/03/2022 16:58

Delivery due between 3 & 4, so at ten to 4 I started to track it in real time. At 4.15, it dropped off the tracking. I go outside, nope no Tesco Van.

Wait till 4.30 then ring. On their computer it's stating unable to deliver. I WAS SAT IN THE WINDOW WAITING!

Te guy on the phone can't get hold of the driver, nor the store its coming from.

I've told them to just refund me.

This is the 4th time in 18 months this has happened.

Yes I live in the middle if Salisbury Plain. Yes the road through is small.
But, every house is numbered ours is actually on our gate.
A fucking Hiab truck got through with our new fences though yesterday and found us!

I am also disabled so that means DH who has taken time off to put said new fences up will have to take time out tomorrow to go shopping.

Our Asda driver was 2 hours late and then got lost and could not explain where he was . My husband after trying to guide him here ended up driving down the road to find him and guide Him to the house .

Cognoscenti · 13/03/2022 18:10

It seems very area dependent, we actually have the same slot as you OP, today it arrived bang on 3, last week they arrived early. Never had problems with Asda either.

reluctantbrit · 13/03/2022 18:14

Have you tried Ocado? DD's Scout group uses them for their camps and they deliver to a field in the middle of nowhere. DH found it very amusing when he drove the kit van and found a lonely Ocado truck waiting in an empty field.

FuzzyPuffling · 13/03/2022 18:16

Tesco are brilliant round here (remote rural location), whereas Morrisons are a disaster (and rude with it).

Useranon1 · 13/03/2022 18:29

Did they say you weren't in or failed to deliver?

Tana433 · 13/03/2022 18:34

I have never had a problem with Tesco. I have to say they have been brilliant and ive been very grateful to them for the past couple of years. I usually do the flexi time slot between 7pm and 11pm and more often than not i will get a delivery time of between 9pm and 10pm.

TYbakedpotato · 13/03/2022 20:09

I find Tesco are amazing, but from all the feedback, I think it probably is area dependent.

You said that it's difficult for your DH to shop in person due to his job, that it's not really feasible for you due to your disability, and that you often have problems with deliveries. So it's not just Tesco: no one likes delivering where you live.

Is there a reason why you have to live where you do? Thinking more long-term, if you lived somewhere that delivery drivers didn't seem to hate as much, it might make day-to-day life so much easier. I appreciate it's never as simple as just moving and there might be valid reasons why you cannot, but I thought I'd ask.

I'm also disabled, which makes driving for me a non-starter. I moved somewhere with both easy public transport links, but also where people would find it easy to deliver to me. One of the best decisions I've made - I would really struggle with managing my condition if I had to go out and buy half the stuff I get delivered to my doorstep.

Sometimes you don't need to move miles and miles away... it's just moving to a busier part of town.

Maggiesgirl · 13/03/2022 20:13

Moving is not on the cards, after 32 years with the Army, we are in our own house which is a bungalow laid out just as I need it.

I once watched my Morrisons via Amazon delivery come close to my house then disappear off to the centre of London. I'm guessing the delivery person still had the GPS on when he decided he wasn't delivering. We were tempted to go and visit the house showing on the GPS but decided against it!

twominutesmore · 13/03/2022 20:22

I've used tesco for years and never had a problem. I think it was late once but he called to tell me. As pp said, maybe depends on areas, stores and individual drivers.

jimmyhill · 13/03/2022 20:26

In years and years and years ordering from Sainsbury's they have cancelled once (recently, during the Omicron wave) and been late no more than once or twice.

So, bin off Tesco and try Sainsbos, would be my recommendation

Speakuptomakeyourselfheard · 13/03/2022 20:27

We had our pre-delivery receipt from Tesco arrive this week, and on it it said that they had NO EGGS available!! My husband was incredulous, he said 'are they really telling us that there are absolutely no laying chickens anywhere in our area'? I told him to ring them if he was that cross so to my surprise, he did, the person he spoke to was incredulous too, and told him eggs are a staple and ALWAYS in stock. They rang the store while keeping him on the phone, and then came back and told him that they did of course have eggs in store, and that the amount we required would be added to our order for FREE of charge! They'd also had a word with the store manager who wasn't happy either, so obviously worth making that phone call! So always, always complain people, as if they don't know they can't do anything about it.

ladygindiva · 13/03/2022 20:33

I agree with pp it's area / store dependant. Tesco is 100% reliable where I am, have had a few nightmares with morrisons and asda so I swerve them.

Karwomannghia · 16/03/2022 07:32
@Karwomannghia it's not hard to find, just out if the way. One road through.
Still worth putting direction notes on for drivers for any online order so they know what to expect. Anyone driving down a long road will start to doubt themselves, especially with time pressure!
Our house is in a city but I still put notes to say we’ve got steps up and also whereabouts we are on the road to help them find it easily. It saves their time and ours.

This happened to me once with Ocado? How can you not have any eggs??

Having said that, Ocado have been brilliant and their food is always long dated and in great condition.
