Seriously how can the supporters club actually put their spokesperson on national TV, to say the fans are innocent in this and should be allowed to enjoy the football.

Sure the innocent Ukranians would love to enjoy a game of football but right now there are more important things going on that the right of a Chelsea fan to watch a bloody football match

Maybe the Premier League will finally have to ask itself some awkward questions about the source of the wealth that's made their "product" so lucrative.

I say this as a racing fan, similarly having to confront the fact that it's become reliant on rich powerful figures with increasingly questionable attitudes (Sheikh Mohammed al Maktoum).

@melj1213

Does this affect their outreach/youth programmes?

I would imagine so - if it is an in house programme run by the club then it will be funded entirely from the club accounts, and they have effectively been frozen. The outreach/youth workers will hopefully still be being paid as CFC employees but I doubt they will be able to continue with programs they're running if they have no funding.

The football club I support runs its community programme as an entirely separate entity. It bears the name of the club but is run as a charity and does lots of fantastic work in the community. That's a common setup with many clubs.

It is a separate business but still under the umbrella of CFC so will still be sanctioned.

The Chelsea Foundation is supported by funding from Chelsea FC, it's "address" is listed as Stamford Bridge and its directors are all related to CFC. Unless they have enough funding streams outside of the club to keep their programs up and running then they won't be able to keep going.

middleparking - sorry was too sweeping a statement. I meant in relation to cutting off oligarchs and their monies - late to the pass but finally got there and to argue that is should not be done is worng.

Not support the govt on everything !! Don't get me started on any bloody govt and idiot edicts.

There was a talking heads but on the news last night - one guy said he thought Abramovich had been ‘stitched up’. Funny that, because I remember his being mentioned in the same breathe as Putin over the years and I’m far from especially interested in the guy. It’s just that Putin and everything to with him was treated with semi-amusement until very recently.

I find the trait of refusing to see the very obvious bad in people you like or who have benefited you one of humankind’s more tragic characteristics. See also Michael Jackson fans who just know MJ would never do anything horrible.

Nail on the head.

DP’s family live in Salisbury and whenever we mention Salisbury people joke about going to see the Russians and the cathedral spires height. Oh yes, the Kremlin attempted to poison two people and ended up killing a British woman LOL!! Angry Really pees me off. People seem to think it’s hilarious.
