The fear

Does anyone get that Sunday evening fear about Monday morning?

OP posts:
takeasadsongandmakeitbetter · 06/03/2022 22:24

I still do even though I don't work Mondays AND I'm on maternity leave!
Think it must just become part of the weekly psychological routine!

noarguments · 06/03/2022 22:25

Definitely. Fairly sure it’s a hang up from school days when I’d been avoiding my English homework til the last minute....

HappyHouseWitch · 06/03/2022 22:25

We call it Sunday Night Syndrome. When I was a kid in the 80s I used to associate it with the theme tune to Last of the Summer Wine (but I get the Antiques Roadshow connection too!)

bumbelinabumsquash · 06/03/2022 22:27

@historygeek

Yep. We call is the "Countryfile Fear" as it hits as soon as the theme tune starts!
😂 it's known as Antiques Roadshow Anxiety here...
shinynewapple22 · 06/03/2022 22:31

I used to be someone who slept very badly on Sunday - in fact I was taking sleeping tablets every Sunday night . Sleep so much better since I've been WFH.

Meltinthemiddle · 06/03/2022 22:34

Wow alot of teachers with this fear. I am a TA and really feel it too 😭

LadyLolaRuben · 06/03/2022 23:33

The Sunday scaries!

Dita73 · 06/03/2022 23:35

I know exactly what you mean but I get it on a Friday (different circumstances but same feeling)

Kitkat151 · 06/03/2022 23:40

I have in previous jobs.....like a really sick Feeling....palpitations ...the works.....not in my current job though

SarahProblem · 06/03/2022 23:42

I used to when I was a teacher. So glad I got out. Now fear-free!

DickVanDyke26 · 07/03/2022 07:13

@Meltinthemiddle me too Sad

Orangelover · 07/03/2022 08:09

Yep. Had it basically all day yesterday and I'm getting ready this morning almost crying! I've had a week off which is making it worse.

CourtRand · 07/03/2022 08:46

Yes. Oftentimes it triggers my insomnia! Even though I WFH now and don't find my work bad or anything.

Kgutdfn · 07/03/2022 09:11

One reason why I could never watch Downton Abbey. The music was made for Sunday night!

LadyWhistledownsPen · 07/03/2022 09:14

Yep, and I don't even work Mondays anymore, I have my kids instead. The thought of keeping a 4 year old and 1 year old entertained all day gives me the fear.

Kgutdfn · 07/03/2022 09:15

Just remembered Songs of Praise was banned from coming on when I was a kid!! Yuk, still gives me the shivers now when I hear it!!

AddictedToOlives · 07/03/2022 09:18

Yep, deeply ingrained - as I’m not even working at moment!

Kgutdfn · 07/03/2022 09:20

My list of Sunday 'the fear' triggers were Bullseye / Love boat / Songs of Praise / the Walton's / some sci fi star Trek programme that used to be on Sunday lunch time for hours / Heartbeat / Antiques Roadshow / Points Of View / That's Life (was that the name) with Esther Rantzen!

HRTQueen · 07/03/2022 10:39

Songs of Praise gives the me dread feeling too (from school days)

Dita73 · 07/03/2022 19:41

Thora Hird used to be enough to put the fear in anyone!

Faywithoutane · 07/03/2022 19:47

@Tess3

I've had this for years since secondary school in fact im now approaching 40. Always came on the minute i heard the heartbeat theme start.. i avoided it for years by doing shift work but now have been doing 9am-5pm m-f for a the best part of a year and it's settled in again 😔
I was going to post the same, Heartbeat theme tune every Sunday evening from secondary school sort of age brought on the dread of school!
TatianaBis · 07/03/2022 19:49

Nah being self employed is great.

Crackercrazy · 07/03/2022 20:36

@Dita73

Thora Hird used to be enough to put the fear in anyone!
Totally! I remember that sitcom she did (In Loving Memory, I looked it up). Really depressed me as a child - but then again it was about undertakers - double whammy!
DoNotGetADog · 07/03/2022 20:53

@historygeek

I’ve had this since I was a child and it used to happen when Songs of Praise or Bullseye came on. When I was a bit older and stayed up later, then it used to be Mastermind!
DogsAndGin · 07/03/2022 20:53

Not much. I used to have it badly when I worked in sales as it was a hideous work environment and long hours. I’m a primary school teacher now and actually LOVE my job Grin
