Does anyone get that Sunday evening fear about Monday morning?

OP posts:
Thatsplentyjack · 06/03/2022 20:49

Right now, yes because of a new situation with my work that happens on a Monday and Friday and it's really quire stressful, but usually no.

Batshitkerazy · 06/03/2022 20:53

Yes, we call it the Sunday scaries Grin

Jay3004 · 06/03/2022 20:53

I’m on maternity leave and I still get it 😂

Bryonny84 · 06/03/2022 20:55

Yes! I only work part time now but my job is tedious and I could be doing so much more if I didn't have to work. In my youth I loved my job and couldn't wait to get there on a Monday to be with my colleagues and all the banter/lunches/after work get togethers. Those were the days! I hate Sundays at 9pm (now) when I'm thinking "God, work tomorrow" lol. Hey it's a job. I hated being unemployed more.

MurmuratingStarling · 06/03/2022 20:56

I don't work Mondays so no. And I do like my job (WFH currently.)

But I have had jobs where I have felt this way. So YANBU.

housemaus · 06/03/2022 20:57

I adore my job and I still get Sunday scaries.

The vast majority of us work because we have to (or work a particular type of job because we have to).

As much as I love my job (and I really do - I work for myself, there's no big bad boss), if I had the option not to work at all but still be able to live comfortably - or to do 8 hours a week at a cat sanctuary, to give myself a tiny bit of structure - I would take it in a heartbeat.

Sunday nights are a reminder that all the things I want to do with my life - travel, work on hobbies, etc - rely on me having to go to work. I find that a bit depressing, staring down another 30+ years of working.

Totally. I love Friday night in and unwind from the working week. Saturday morning getting my house in shape, in peace while the rest of the family in. Sunday lie in and a roast. Sunday night i dred as I know Monday morning is looming

Pinkbendyman · 06/03/2022 21:06

I used to,when I was a teacher! Now...I practically skip into work! I LOVE it!! Best decision ever! No amount of summer holidays could convince me to go back to teaching!!

Me too! After 17 long years of teaching and Sunday night dread 😬 I took redundancy and ran for the hills!

HRTQueen · 06/03/2022 21:06

Yes

And I really love my job I just always want a bit more time off

Was terrible when in a job I was unhappy in it started as soon as I woke up Sunday morning

WorraLiberty · 06/03/2022 21:07

@historygeek

Yep. We call is the "Countryfile Fear" as it hits as soon as the theme tune starts!
Haha! It was Songs Of Praise when I was a kid.

The theme tune used to make me feel sick.

haaaaaaalp · 06/03/2022 21:09

I do. And I actually love my job.

Forgothowmuchlhatehomeschoolin · 06/03/2022 21:09

Yes but only cos l have just comitted myself to go on a 25mile bike ride tomorrow. Think l would rather go to work!!

Crackercrazy · 06/03/2022 21:13

Snap Worra!

Notwithittoday · 06/03/2022 21:14

I used to when I was a teacher

Katya213 · 06/03/2022 21:20

Yes, it stems from childhood and dreading going into school because of the bullies. My dad used to watch points of view on a Sunday evening, once I knew that was over, it was time for bed which caused so much anxiety.

Beaconoflight · 06/03/2022 21:29

Yes I have it now, debating if I should take a betablocker to help :(

lightisnotwhite · 06/03/2022 21:30

Monday is one of my favourite days of the week. A hangover from living in the back of beyond. I loved school and just being able to meet people.

However Sunday is a horrible day. Dull and a bit smug. I quite like working on Sundays just to make it more useful.

missbunnyrabbit · 06/03/2022 21:47

Yes, and it is so miserable.

Tartanblankets · 06/03/2022 21:57

It's the Antique Roadshow and Time Team theme tunes for me. They still make me feel sick about school and I'm 38!

WhenISnappedAndFarted · 06/03/2022 21:59

Yes. I thought it would go away after I left school but I'm 33 now and still dread Monday mornings.

DramaAlpaca · 06/03/2022 22:01

Not for the last few years, but I did in my previous job which is when I realised it was time to leave.

FavouritePi · 06/03/2022 22:05

Yep, used to start when I'd see Antiques Roadshow on the TV guide. The impending Monday-ness would wash over me. Now it seems to start on Saturday night/Sunday morning.

OldTinHat · 06/03/2022 22:22

Yes! And I'm not even able to work but still have that sick feeling of dread on a Sunday evening.

PlayTheWillyBanjo · 06/03/2022 22:24

Yes! I don't know why either!
