Was just talking to a friend and we're having a banana off. I say the best time to eat a banana is the first day you buy them when they're not really ripe whilst they say to leave them for as long as posibu WIBU?

6 looks pretty perfect.

The very thought of eating a crisp, green banana turns my stomach!

HoveringDonkeyofKnock · 04/03/2022 00:11

4 is perfect. But would do a 5 if that’s all there was.

bellamountain · 04/03/2022 00:13

3 for me. Can't stand even a hint of gunge.

Hugasauras · 04/03/2022 00:16

3-4 perfect. 7 is only useful for banana bread or the bin.

merryhouse · 04/03/2022 14:31

I'll eat 4, but I prefer 5.

7 and upwards gets chopped, nuked and eaten with plain yoghurt

KLH87 · 04/03/2022 14:33

3 - 4 for me.

HRTQueen · 04/03/2022 14:38

5 or 6 for me

At times a 7 is fine inside if brown squidgy bits I eat around that or throw in the bin

3 and under would give me stomach ache

Gizacluethen · 04/03/2022 14:43

Bananas are gross. The softer they are the more gross they are.

Titsywoo · 04/03/2022 14:45

All bananas are disgusting

RavenclawsRoar · 04/03/2022 14:46

6 and 7 obviously! Nice and squishy. Can't abide a green banana.

ofwarren · 04/03/2022 14:53

5-7 for me. The green ones taste dry and a bit bitter to me.

ChristmasCrackered · 04/03/2022 15:25

6,5,7,4 in order of preference.

LottyD32 · 04/03/2022 15:25

5 or 6 for me. I like them sweet.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 04/03/2022 15:32

7 (or preferably more) for me on that colour scale

They can look a bit "hmmmm" but nothing beats the flavour, and they're often sold off cheaply since so few want them

strawberryapricotpie · 04/03/2022 15:37

As soon as there's any brown on the skin at all, they're too ripe for me. Even at the point where they are bright yellow, too ripe for me - I don't like the taste. Ripe bananas actually taste a bit like they are already rotting to me.

I only like them when the green has barely disappeared from the skin. Sometimes still with a bit of green.

strawberryapricotpie · 04/03/2022 15:38

Oops, only just saw the pic. Round about a 4.

DontWiltMySpinachPlease · 04/03/2022 15:49

Literally nothing worse than a crunchy green banana 🤮

stripeyflowers · 04/03/2022 16:00

Yellow and slightly soft, preferably before any brown spots appear.

ErrolTheDragon · 04/03/2022 16:07

I-2 look inedible. 3-5 look fine. 6 would be nice on toast, with almond butter and cinnamon, 6 and 7 would both be goodnin porridge (or banana bread/muffins of course).

daimbarsatemydogsbone · 04/03/2022 16:15

@labyrinthlaziness

1-3 are inedible, 4 will be disappointing, 5-7 pleasant.
Exactly this
SoupDragon · 04/03/2022 16:18

We are lucky in our family as DS1 likes them towards the unripe end of the scale and DS2 likes them towards the "banana bread" end. DD and I like them in between.

shumway · 04/03/2022 16:26

The riper the better. I like them when they're going a bit brown.

crackersforcrackers · 04/03/2022 17:50

3 and 4 for me too! They have to have some green of them otherwise they're overripe Grin

Hrpuffnstuff1 · 04/03/2022 18:04

7 for me, although in shakes completely brown is a sugar Fest.
