That the Cannabis Industry produces a non-smelly Hybrid ASAP

Never mind the pros and cons of cannabis use and it's legality, etc - the greatest complaint really is The Smell of it. I like a spliff and on a sunny day off in my back garden I'd love nothing more than to enjoy it with a spliff. But I can't. Even if it was legal, most of my neighbours could well not like it, and like a bonfire lit when your washing is out, would probably get upset.

Missing the point but what exactly do you mean by hybrid?

Try a dry herb vaporiser, smell doesn’t linger and nowhere near as stinky as a joint.

@Rickrollme

Hope you have a thick skin OP, everyone on MN thinks cannabis is the devil and will ruin your life but it is of course fine to have a few glasses of wine every night and more on weekends.
Cannabis is well known to cause mental health issues, particularly in young men.

More to the point, alcohol isnt illegal and currently cannabis is. Ergo, no one should be using it FULL STOP. Unless its medically prescribed obviously (and medical cannabis isnt smoked herbal roll ups)

But OP, actually I agree with you. I work in an ASB team for a housing association and a vast majority of our complaints is the smell causing a nuisance and distress to neighbours. It's such a sickly, sweet, sticky smell that causes headaches and nausea. A non smelling cannabis would be a game changer.

That said, drug dealers are scum and those who allow their criminal activities and abuse of the vulnerable by purchasing cannabis, should hang their heads in shame.

Does it definitely cause the mental health issues or are lots of these young men doing the best to manage the symptoms of poor mental health with self-medicating?

Most of the people that I know who regularly purchase cannabis buy it off a friend with their own small grow that they tend for the love of it. Small batches, no exploitation, no/very few chemicals, etc.

Theres lots of Albanian criminal networks in the UK who do mass produce cannabis, and exploit vulnerable people, use huge amounts of chemicals to create massive buds, etc. The weed is harsh, disgustingly strong and will send you insane.

I think legalising cannabis would allow the former model to thrive and essentially render the latter unnecessary.

I quite like smelling it on people, I know who to avoid then

Especially when I'm interviewing Smile

Those who use it or have friends/family who do.... pls don't think we can't smell it on you. It seems to cling

This

I can’t stand the smell either. I also really worry about cannabis addiction amongst young teens. There was a gang of stoners at my school and without exception they have mental and physical health issues from heavy smoking. It must have been devastating for their parents to watch their slide into addiction. It seems a really hard habit to break once its got its teeth into you.

Onesailwait · 01/03/2024 21:09

Come on over to Canada. I'll take you to a local dispensary. Lots of weed that doesn't stink & Lots of options for consumption that don't include smoking. Bath bomb you say?, cup of tea? Some lovely chocolate? A soft drink?. We've got it all.

The weed world is growing fast,

Not legally in the UK.

Not true, the UK legally grows tonnes of weed, much of it for export.

As always, as long as it's the "right" people making money off it then it's all fine

Use a weed vape, available from approx £30 on Amazon. No smell (and you can use the residue in cooking.)

Is that not just cbd though? Xx

They’re referring to a dry herb vaporiser, you still have to buy the weed, so not just CBD.

BobbyBiscuits · 02/03/2024 03:54

"The cannabis industry" It's a plant. You can't make tobacco that doesn't smell when burned. It's a combustible substance and if you smoke it then it smells strong, if it's good. You can get cannabis vapes now, presuming the smell would be much less/ non existent as its caused by the burning of the herb.

I'd be more advocating for people to stop hating the smell of it so much. It smells much nicer than tobacco smoke and lingers less. I guess I'm lucky as I smoke indoors (in my own house, not rental) and have a terrace where it can't reach neighbours windows. Plus I live in a hippy-ass/uber-liberal area, haha.

Tatonka · 02/03/2024 06:04

Can't you just burn a candle or some incense or something to disguise it?

NannyOggsWhiskyStash · 02/03/2024 10:39

Make edibles instead, problem solved

NannyOggsWhiskyStash · 02/03/2024 10:41

Also strains such as Durban Poison, Jack Herer and Northern Lights have a less pungent smell(I work for a cannabis seedbank)

Moier · 02/03/2024 10:48

I use it for my chronic pain ( I'm allergic to pain killers other than paracetamol) l use this vape and there is definitely no smell what so ever.

Moier · 02/03/2024 10:58

I might add I'm 66.. got thrown under a bus.. hundreds of operations. I'd be dead from suicide if l didn't use it for my pain.
Alcohol is legal .. yet it costs the NHS more money to deal with Alcoholics than it does for cannabis smokers.

RobinEllacotStrike · 02/03/2024 11:01

I make cannabis butter in my instant pot. Zero smell.

When I bake the brownies using the butter there is a wee bit of smell. But I make enough to last me a long time. So overall there is minimal smell.

Not the same as inhaling though. And titration can be a pain. Definitely for the more medical users if you can establish a reliable dosage.
