Never mind the pros and cons of cannabis use and it's legality, etc - the greatest complaint really is The Smell of it. I like a spliff and on a sunny day off in my back garden I'd love nothing more than to enjoy it with a spliff. But I can't. Even if it was legal, most of my neighbours could well not like it, and like a bonfire lit when your washing is out, would probably get upset.

County lines and cuckooing of the vulnerable to manage cannabis farms is a big problem (again, first hand experience of this both in my job and DHs in Police) so I think its disingenuous to start having an issue with the "its illegal" brigade because the fact is it IT illegal and as such these travesties and abuse IS happening. You dont get the same with alcohol.

Granted if it were legalised this may stop or reduce these issues, but it isnt legal and purchasing cannabis means you are finding the cuckooing and modern day slavery linked to cannabis production and you should be ashamed.

Yes and unfortunately there is no getting away from that fact, although when you bring that up in discussion suddenly everyone is a home grower and of course doesnt contribute to slavery

The other thing I always find about weed smokers is that they are so often so desperate to tell you of its benefits, in an evangelical way, sort of like a pusher, in a way that alcohol users or cigarette smokers dont do, it would be really odd.

Yes peachy and I do prefer hash myself not least because it's not so smelly. There was a time when hash was mostly what was available, and like any agricultural product it was unique to the local geographical are it came from. So Lebanese Red or Blonde, Moroccan 0/00/000 and Afghani Black were amongst some of the products available.

Then Customs got hot and we got Soap Bar - an hideous concoction
of minimal hash and loads of whatever - didn't smell of anything much and hardly gave any of the positive effects of Cannabis.

And then the Weed Market found it's foothold. And the Criminals that control it who don't care if their product stinks.

So. Maybe if we decriminalize, potential home-growers like myself can experiment with non-smelly hybrids and in 5 years some of us will be answering questions on Gardener's Question Time.

I have no idea why this government is still against legalising/decrim cannabis. They're fairly blatant in their use of class As themselves. We have some of the best growers in the UK (all our cannabis is exported though)

I just hope that it gets legalised in my lifetime, I have chronic back issues and when I've had weed in the past it gave me energy and I was pain free!! It beats the fucking cocktail of pharmaceuticals I take currently.

Do what you like to your own body but the social harm caused by drugs is global and buying drugs is supporting all sorts of other crimes

Let's make it legal for an individual to grow a maximum of, say, five plants for their own private consumption then.

I'm all for legalisation - at the moment, the powers that be find it more acceptable for me to be opiate-dependent when there's a natural, non-addictive (in a physiological sense) painkiller I could easily grow myself. Cannabis isn't a gateway drug but the codeine and tramadol they offer me surely is.

You can get it medically from some clinics but it's bonkers expensive

Literally, yes, co-codamol, 20mg Butec, Pregabalin, and methocarbamol currently take the edge off. So I feel your pain too.

I never used to mind it, but the stuff people smoke now is puke inducing. Vaping is deceptively easy, which leads to people thing 'oh, that's like fresh air' until they try and stand up and promptly spin out - not exactly ideal in a hammock, OP...

And nobody seems mellow and chilled now, they just seem irritable and very slow of thinking at the same time. It's not the same substance literally and figuratively.

Personal use has just been legalized in Germany. I wish the UK would grow up about this stuff. There was a brief period in the 2000s when it was effectively declassified to the point of no enforcement. I didn't notice society grinding to a halt.

If you smoke pure weed - without tobacco the smell is far less and clears a lot quicker.
Tobacco clings to things, and carries the weed smell with it, but weed alone is a lot lighter a scent.

However I have some resin at the moment that you can smell from 2 layers of wrapping! 🤣
