She seems to think she's been wronged in some way. I feel a bit cringe for her actually.

Can you copy and paste?

Not the same lady, but I posted this earlier.

It’s baffling that people are so self absorbed that they see no problem in distracting other theatre goers from a skilled performance with their own unwanted noise. ‘I didn’t know it wasn’t allowed.’ Was anyone else doing it? READ THE ROOM, WOMAN.

KindlyKanga · 26/02/2022 14:19

So rude. Unless it is billed as a singalong you watch the performers perform who is she to think anyone else wants to hear her.

StrangeLookingParasite · 26/02/2022 14:20

The one and only time I saw a performance of the Elgar cello concerto, a man stamped his foot almost in time to the whole thing. Completely destroyed it.
I spoke to an usher so it stopped for the second half, but the Elgar was finished by then.

So rude! So disrespectful. I hope they ban anyone who gets kicked out.

The usual heavy response from those who think they have a little power over a woman
Piglet89 · 26/02/2022 14:29

I went to see a production of Shostakovich’s The Nose at the Barbican about a decade ago.

Nobody sang along.

I made this comment only in an attempt to win the prize for “Most middle class theatre attendee on the thread.”

@ChildOfFriday

That's the very thread, thanks. I couldn't remember if it was on here or Am I The Asshole on Reddit😀

Omg I got second hand embarrassment reading that Grin

She needs to stfu and sit still in a theatre. I wonder how many people complained about her?

PrincessNutella · 26/02/2022 14:35

They wouldn't have needed eight bouncers if I were there.

Oh give over.
Man or woman, you sit down and enjoy the show without being a selfish twat ruining it for everyone else or face the consequences.

Figgygal · 26/02/2022 14:40

I dont know this is the second story ive read of people being ejected from this show at that venue so is it an issue with over zealous after all?
The other story involved a disabled 75 year old and his daughter who then had a full panic attack in the foyer requiring an ambulance

So the bouncers had been female of the person had been male then it would have been fine?

The usher who first spoke to her was female.

Those were the people in the link I posted previously who were screaming at the ushers and trying to fight them.
LoisWilkersonslastnerve · 26/02/2022 14:48

Grin What an absolute tit.

UnsuitableHat · 26/02/2022 14:54

Could metro have got it off a social media site?
Anyway, she sounds truly annoying. I went to a gig once where a pissed woman next to me sang along to everything and it drove me mad.

Havers · 26/02/2022 14:59

I saw KD Lang a few years ago - she stopped half way through a song and asked the person in the front row to stop singing and shouting “I love you” - it took several attempts to shut her up.

C152 · 26/02/2022 15:03

ImNotDancing - yes, I have, but not for years as they're not actually my cup of tea. And yes, at those I went to, the audience sang and were not asked to stop. If it's the case that there was an announcement at the beginning asking the audience not to sing along, then the lady was clearly in the wrong, but she claims in the article OP linked to that this was not the case. That's why I suggested it may be that neither the woman thrown out or the ushers were completely in the right.

Malibuismysecrethome · 26/02/2022 15:12

I’m more surprised that she knew all the words

ferneytorro · 26/02/2022 15:22

Some people just cannot stay quiet - get it a lot at the cinema, people talking to the screen. Went to see Death on the Nile - two perfectly nice , intelligent (from their conversation before the film started) women. Soon as it starts a constant narrative - French and Saunders come on "ooh look who it is" Russell Brand comes on "oh now who is that, oh who is it I know him from something". I really had to stop myself saying "if I tell you who it is will you fucking shut up.

Also had it at comedy gigs - people seemed to think the comedian needed to be answered. Not heckling as not really loud just an "oh yes "etc etc. Sorry you've hit a nerve!

CurlyhairedAssassin · 26/02/2022 15:26

It's usually fairly obvious when there is supposed to be audience participation. The person on stage singing starts saying "come on, everyone! Hands in the air, join in!" etc etc. Otherwise, you keep the fuck quiet and watch the professional performance. If you want a pantomime, go to one.

CurlyhairedAssassin · 26/02/2022 15:34

I remember going to see the Commitments before COVID. Also full of songs that everyone knows. I don't remember anyone singing or dancing till they were invited to by the cast members. I wonder if people have got so used to doing their own thing at home during lockdown that they forget they are now mixing with others and there is etiquette and behavioural norms they are expected to follow.

Derbee · 26/02/2022 15:35

FFS leave the poor woman alone. She was singing at a theatre. I dont see the crime

@Awwlookatmybabyspider I can explain it for you, as you don’t see the crime. SHE WAS SINGING IN A THEATRE.

Happy to Help

ZaZathecat · 26/02/2022 15:37

YANBU, I don't pay an arm and a leg to go to the theatre to hear Beryl from Batley's rendition.
