Seriously. The number of twats tonight turning in and out of junctions with no signal.

Grrrr.
@Agrudge I'm assuming you're on a wind up, because if that's what you genuinely think and do when you're driving, then you're the worst kind of driver.

Arrogant, thoughtless and entitled.
Its a semi wind up. . I do indicate most of the time . Unless no one is around to see it

heyitsthistle · 26/02/2022 14:53

I believe working indicators are optional extras on BMWs and Audis.

Agrudge · 26/02/2022 14:56

@Ameanstreakamilewide

Also far from the worst kind of driver.

The no.1 spot is surely drink/drug driving .

I'm not sure not indicating is in the top 10 of worst things

skodadoda · 26/02/2022 15:09

@TheSilveryTinsellyPussycat

I always indicate whether there's anyone around or not. There may be someone I haven't noticed, but I also think it is good practice to do it every time so I never have to think "shall I?"
My thoughts too

@2Gen

It's a bit strong calling me a psychopath lol

ghostyslovesheets · 26/02/2022 15:25

not just indicators - my biggest grrrr is lane discipline - don't go round a round about on the right then just pull off on the left - you are supposed to MOVE round - also when I do and you don't - don;t get arsey, wave your hands, blare your horn when you suddenly pull off and find me in that lane - because I have moved over correctly and am indicating - twats!

TheSilveryTinsellyPussycat · 26/02/2022 19:08

I just remembered I had to know hand signals as part of my driving test! You put your hand out the window, pointed right fo Right, pointed right and twirled for Left, pointed to right and waved up and down for Slowing Down.

eastegg · 26/02/2022 20:50

2Gen it was another poster whose child got run over. I just said sorry.

Onlyforcake · 26/02/2022 20:59

It's not for traffic islands it's for junctions though

Whitefire · 26/02/2022 21:22

@CounsellorTroi

What gets me is those people who, at a set of traffic lights where there are two, one of which is for going straight on and the other is for straight on or turning right, go in the right lane without indicating, so you pull up behind them to go straight on. . Then as soon as the light changes they indicate right so you’re stuck behind them for ages as they wait to turn right.
I indicate well back to say that I will be turning right at the traffic lights -lots of cars still choose to sit behind me though. (There is another set of traffic lights after at the right hand lane at them is a right turn only)

I don't have to indicate as early as I do though, if they are behind me they will just have to wait until I've turned.

Purpleberet · 26/02/2022 21:43

I walk a lot and the number of drivers who don’t indicate is ridiculous. It’s a nightmare trying to cross roads. If I start crossing and they havent indicated I take my sweet time Grin But sometimes they have the nerve to shout or gesture at me even though they’re in the wrong! So many bad drivers on the road I hate it

Palmfrond · 26/02/2022 21:43

I’m forever playing chicken with dickheads at roundabouts, often enough the audis and bmws, nice shiny black ones. Play guessy guessy chicken with my knackered, cowshit spattered series 3 Land Rover, see which one of us ends up crying, motherfucker.
And yes, for clarity, I am also a dickhead.

Whitefire · 26/02/2022 21:54

often enough the audis and bmws, nice shiny black ones.

Not a dickhead at roundabouts either - though the Audi is less shiny black and more filthy mud splattered black. The BMW is nice and shiny though. Oh and it wasn't me who nearly caused the crash at the roundabout, it was the wally in the left hand lane who decided that he would use that lane to do a U turn at the roundabout (left hand lane is for 1st exit only, right hand lane is for 2nd exit, plus the exit into a small car park) cutting right in front of me. Thank goodness one of us was paying attention (so, yes that would be the Audi driver)

The roundabout near work I am on 'twat driver' alert at all times, people's lane discipline is dreadful.

caranations · 26/02/2022 22:03

Tiredness
Really? If you're that tired, you shouldn't be driving at all.

MasterBeth · 26/02/2022 22:04

@batfurger

They disturb my dog... he gets upland whines because he thinks we are nearly home...

The only time I don't use them is when there's no one to indicate to...

WTF?! Get off the fucking road!
caranations · 26/02/2022 22:24

@mrsnoodle55

I remember the ‘indicator rows’ from years ago when I did my blue light driving course. We were shown pictures/film of cars indicating, and asked to say what it meant; course we all said ‘they’re turning right/left/about to pull in’ etc etc.

Their answer was no, in fact all these pictures show, is that the car’s indicator light is working. Their point being, of course, in a transparently PA way, that you can’t presume the actions of a car/driver from their indicator lights. Due to all the reasons stated above by prev posters.

It means there’s a fine line between dithering unnecessarily at roundabouts etc, should you choose to presume everyone has left their indicators on by accident, or blindly charging out cos the car approaching is indicating to turn off/pull out.

The skill they’re trying to hammer home is getting that balance right; see their indicators, but read their manoeuvres etc. We were also taught to not indicate if no-one was visibly around (I still have no answer to what you’re meant to do if approaching a junction with limited view etc, they never did answer that 🤷‍♀️)

Haha! My driving instructor was a former firefighter who drove the engines, and he drummed this into me.

I actually got asked during my test what it meant when someone's indicator was on, and the examiner's face was a picture when I told him. Grin

Not everyone is perfect

Mostlyjustrunning · 27/02/2022 07:34

”WTF?! Get off the fucking road!”

But why? She’s using them correctly.

Merryoldgoat · 27/02/2022 13:00

@bruce43mydog

Not everyone is perfect
I’m not asking for perfection, I’m asking for basic driving requirements followed of driving.

It’s dangerous and causes unnecessary delay.
