Aibu to think this is not Ok

Tootsey11 · 21/02/2022 14:00

I'm a house cleaner.

Today's household left me shit in the bath to clean.

Now I know with young kids, accidents can happen, but it's really not OK to leave for someone else to clean up after.

How 2 adults could not have noticed is beyond me, the smell was enough.

I'm pissed off, Aibu to be???

@Tootsey11

Well I texted them, wasn't cheeky but asked if they could make sure baths and toilets are checked in future before I come round. The reply was 'I never noticed there was anything in it'.

Will aim to replace them as soon as.

I'd be mortified if I genuinely didn't know it was there if I were her. Where is the omg I'm soooo sorry that's rank I'm so embarrassed etc
Theimpossiblegirl · 21/02/2022 16:09

They knew.

I'd look at replacing them asap.

Arabellla · 21/02/2022 16:24

I am so glad you didn't clean it, OP.

They 100% knew it was there.

I hope you can replace them asap Flowers

glasgowlass · 21/02/2022 16:31

They knew it was there, how could 2 adults use the bathroom & not notice? Totally at it.

Cherryblossoms85 · 21/02/2022 16:35

Leaving the poonami aside for a minute, the fact they don't give you a Christmas tip is shocking. I give them Christmas money, and make them coffee each week (they really like coffee). I definitely am one of those people that doesn't do anything much between cleans though, didn't realise that was really all that terrible - if I had time I wouldn't pay someone else to do it.

incognitoforthisone · 21/02/2022 16:38

@LaurieFairyCake

It's not going to be adult human shit though - it will be baby (leaked out a nappy) or cat shit

Either way they're really unlikely to have left it on purpose

It doesn't matter whose shit it was. Baby shit and cat shit are no more gross for a stranger to have to deal with than adult human shit.

And of course they left it on purpose. You don't just not notice a turd in the bathtub.

Tootsey11 · 21/02/2022 16:43

Kids are too young to be left unattended in the bath, so I'm not sure how any parent could not know their child is doing a pooh while being washed!

I have a couple of clients that don't give me anything at Xmas, all the rest do. But a text costs next to nothing, or wishing someone Merry Christmas is free.

OP posts:
RedHelenB · 21/02/2022 17:29

@Tootsey11

They don't clean at all between cleans, as kitchen often has ground in food on the floor. I don't really have any issues with them, although the mum can be a bit entitled, she expected me to come and clean while on my holidays at Xmas because she's NHS and she works 'very' hard'. I didn't. I gave them a card at Xmas and thanked them for their continued custom. I didn't get as much as a thank you, Merry Christmas.
If I had a cleaner I wouldn't clean in between, it defeats the purpose of paying for a cleaner. You leaving the bath is fine, I wouldn't have mentioned it though any right thinking person would realise why Having said all that, if you cleaned in a hotel presumably you couldn't have just left it.
MadameKali · 21/02/2022 17:31

Do they have a cat? Ours sometimes likes to leave a little gift in the bath

Tootsey11 · 21/02/2022 17:49

@RedHelenB

So if your child dropped or split a glass of juice or tipped their cereal on the floor, you think it's OK to just leave it?

I had one family whose dog peed on the floors all over the house. By the time their fortnightly clean came around, there was maybe a hundred little puddles of dried up urine all with dog hair stuck in for me to clean up, as they couldn't be bothered doing it. These are the things I mean when I say cleaning in between, not the general things like cleaning bathrooms or hoovering and dusting.

drpet49 · 21/02/2022 17:52

I wouldn't clean it and would not be going back. I would fire them as clients. These are not the type of people you want to work for.

drpet49 · 21/02/2022 17:52

Absolutely disgusting behaviour

Giraffesandbottoms · 21/02/2022 18:03

My 1 year old craps in the bath frequently. As you say, he is supervised for baths and so I know the second he’s done it (every day is like a game of poo risk 😆) and the bath is immediately evacuated and cleaned. I can’t imagine in my wildest dreams leaving this for my cleaner. How lazy and disrespectful! Ditto leaving any cleaning whatsoever - how can people live like that?!? Bleurgh

BarrowInFurnessRailwayStation · 21/02/2022 18:07

That's horrible. I couldn't be so disrespectful towards someone by leaving something like that for them to clean up Sad

hellithurt · 21/02/2022 18:42

@RedHelenB any right minded person wouldn't have left it there in the first place! So they need to be called out on it.

OP doesn't work in a hotel, so that is an irrelevant point.

Well done OP! You are not wrong!

Livpool · 21/02/2022 18:49

I would definitely be ditching them OP - they sound completely disgusting 🤢

FindingMeno · 21/02/2022 18:51

I probably would have just cleaned it up tbh.
It's what gloves are for.

Piffle11 · 21/02/2022 19:05

To me, their response shows that they were aware that it was there. I would definitely be looking to replace them if I were you, they clearly have no respect for you. I have a child with disabilities who often poops in unusual places: I have told my cleaners specifically not to clean xxx room if I know that he has messed in there – even though I’ve cleaned it up myself, often it still smells, and I wouldn’t want to put anybody through that. I always check the toilets before they come, to make sure there’s no nasties waiting for them! And we have a cat, and I cannot imagine ever mistaking its poo for a human poo… don’t want to go into detail, but you just know!

Tootsey11 · 21/02/2022 19:29

I've got 11 cats, I'm well experienced in cat poo! They have no pets.

The only job were you have clean up poo as far as I'm concerned is a medical or caring role. I'm neither.

@FindingMeno

Would you really? Would you not think they were massively disrespectful of your position?

Don't get me wrong, the other day when my cleaner was here my dog threw up a lot! (After she's bloody cleaned that area!)

She called up to me, the frogs even sick.

I came down, she was clearing up and I'm saying no don't, I will do that. She was like no, it's fine and we both cleared up.

But that situation happened without me knowing, so I get she was happy to help.

But if I'd walked out and left dog vomit I knew about to clear up, I would've understood her refusing.

hellithurt · 21/02/2022 19:36

The dogs been! 😂

FindingMeno · 21/02/2022 19:57

@hellithurt respect doesn't pay the bills, unfortunately!

I understand that, but I think you'll find that good cleaners are hard to cone by! If OP is good, she'll get replacement clients.

I certainly wouldn't want to lose my cleaned, she's ace!

Tootsey11 · 21/02/2022 20:11

@FindingMeno, would you tolerate disrespect in your job??

OP posts:
ponkydonkey · 21/02/2022 20:11

Oh that's absolutely disgusting....
but then m one of those that's tidies up before the cleaner comes 😀

They sound awful ...get rid as soon as possible.
