Heart Of Glass makes me want to be violent, I cannot stand it. I’m not sure what it is. But something about the lyrics, voice and tune trigger something inside me. It came on the radio in the delivery room whilst I was in active labour and it made me distressed until it was turned off.

Also, Ed Sheeran’s songs. Mainly due to the weird lyrics. “My bedsheets smell like you.” Wtf? And in a recent one “I want to drink your smile.” How does one ‘drink a smile’? On the rocks? Also the song where he goes on about all of the depressing hardships his (I’m guessing made-up for the song) friends have fallen upon. One doesn’t see his kids, one is divorced, bla bla bla. It annoys me because it’s not his place to go on about their (made-up, in all fairness) problems for a good song. If the friends are real I hope he asked for permission. This is the same song where he goes on about driving 90mph down country lanes. And the less said about Galway Girl the better.

I can't forgive them whether Jess Glynne is with them or not! Grin

TheGrinchsDog · 25/02/2022 17:06

@Thatsplentyjack

I won't say which exact song because it has my name in it. That's why I hate it. Guaranteed anytime I meet someone new (male) in a situation where alcohol is involved they will sing the song at me.

Apart from that there are probably at least 100 more songs that I just can't stand.

Sandi from Grease or Come on Eileen? Both awful songs to be fair!

Dont'cha by the Pussycat Dolls gave me the rage when it came out, just a horrible song I thought. Sounds like they had a really rough time though so I doubt it was really their choice of song lyrics.

WomanStanleyWoman · 25/02/2022 18:02

I don’t actually dislike the song, but I have a WTF? moment every time I hear ‘Frankie’ by Sister Sledge and it gets to the line “I looked into your big eyes and said to myself ‘We could have had twins’”. Why twins?! It’s so weirdly specific! It’s not even as if it needs to be ‘twins’ to scan properly - ‘kids’ would work just as well and make much more sense.

hellithurt · 25/02/2022 18:21

Sweet Caroline?

cobblers123 · 25/02/2022 18:38

Train!! The blokes voice really annoys me but the songs are even worse, have to mute them whenever I hear them on the radio.

PermanentTemporary · 25/02/2022 18:42

Well I have a friend called Joanna and she sure gritted her teeth whenever that Kool and the Gang song came on. She'd had it sung off key into her ear by too many handsy boys.

Mistressiggi · 25/02/2022 20:02

I'm guessing Delilah Grin

hellithurt · 25/02/2022 20:26

@Mistressiggi

I'm guessing Delilah Grin
My my my that's brilliant!!
BadHairDayExpert · 25/02/2022 22:16

Trying to convert non-Train fans Wink

I have thought of another song I do not like though, Rihanna S+M

Cause I may be bad but I'm perfectly good at it
Sex in the air, I don't care, I love the smell of it

lalalalalala cannot hear you

IloveJudgeJudy · 26/02/2022 09:35

Many songs from this thread that I haven't thought about in years, but mine are Lady in Red (agreeing about the description of the songwriter as a nanny-shagging twatbadger - best description of him ever. Thank you. It sums up my feelings perfectly. )

Also, You Say it Best When You Say Nothing At All by the other cheating twatbadger who was always banging on about what a great husband/father he is.

GinGym · 26/02/2022 10:10

I hate Something Inside So Strong. Sorry, not sorry.

Also Mary's Prayer, Leave A Light On For Me, Everywhere by Fleetwood Mac and the latest "collaboration" between Ed Sheeran and Taylor Swift. Just yuck 🤮

Welcome to the black parade, I have an irrational hatred for this song!

cobblers123 · 26/02/2022 10:30

My Way by Frank Sinatra
Merry Christmas War is Over - John and Yoko
Lyin' Eyes - The Eagles
Anything by Olly Murs (slight exception for the one with Snoop Dog)
Anything by Sam Smith

Funkyslippers · 26/02/2022 10:37

I hate Fly Me To The Moon!

floridana · 26/02/2022 10:42

I can't stand that dancing in the sky when they sing 'I hope the a-a-a-a-angels...'

I also don't really like sad songs when they are played unexpectedly, like 'dance with my father again' when it comes in the radio. It's like being ambushed with sadness and can drag me down for the day.

BorderlineHappy · 26/02/2022 12:49

Sister Sledge Frankie,the song is awful.
But the video is worse.
Who thought putting a 50 year old man in the video was a great idea.
It's so cringeworthy and eugh.

woodhill · 26/02/2022 13:57

Oh Carol is pretty sleazy

JudgeJ · 26/02/2022 14:10

American Pie sung by Maradonna, (as my late mother called her and I can't not!) ruined a perfectly good, if weird, song.

Young Girl, Gary Puckett and the Union Gap, can you imagine if someone wrote that now!

JudgeJ · 26/02/2022 14:11

@woodhill

Oh Carol is pretty sleazy
We sound to be of an age, I loved Oh Carol, it sounds like he was daft enough to stick with a nasty piece of work.
SquidGame457 · 26/02/2022 14:15

Foundations - Kate Nash
You're Beautiful - James Blunt
Gotta Get Thru This - Daniel Beddingfield

toconclude · 26/02/2022 14:17

@Sparklingbrook
God yes to Come on Eileen. Push off Eileen and take your fiddle with you

woodhill · 26/02/2022 14:18

I meant Carol by Smokey😁

Do you mean Neil Sedaka?
