Why arent we all tagging our kids?

Just reading up on buying an airtag as always losing stuff & started thought process of getting one to sew into DDs coat. She is only 2 so not a privacy/ stalking type issue I dont think- just if the worst happened and she was snatched or lost I could find her easily. Why doesn't everyone just do this as standard?!

You should consider professional help.

'If she gets snatched...', for pity's sake.

Oysterbabe · 19/02/2022 10:52

We have an airtag in my 6 year old's comfort toy. I feel sick at the thought of losing him, she'd be devastated.
When I ran a 10k recently I put an airtag in my pocket so my husband and kids could track my progress for fun.

Whether you should do it or not 🤷‍♀️ but I'm sure it would work fine.

Because it's creepy as fuck

Op I am over the top with my children for example nursery aren't allowed to take them our of the building etc but even I wouldn't do this, waste of money really coats can easily get lost.

I was considering a watch version for DD as she runs off when we are out but then I just watch her constantly so again waste of money.

Crimesean · 19/02/2022 11:07

Kids can and do wander off - it's not a rare occurrence at all. It's a sensible thing to do.

If you’re losing a lot of coats perhaps you should consider air tagging them?
HeyGirlHeyBoy · 19/02/2022 11:10

Why don't you leave nursery take them out of building?

Peppapigforlife · 19/02/2022 11:11

Because if everyone did it, it would be so widely known about, that a kidnapper would immediately search for the tracker and dispose of it.

You don't let them play outside at nursery?? Confused

Ugh, how many kids do you think are kidnapped in the UK?? It's far more likely they're going to get lost at a park, fairground, shopping centre etc. Where it would be a useful tool.

No need.
QuillBill · 19/02/2022 13:20

I've never lost a child's coat. Maybe you do need to AirTag your kids if you keep losing stuff. Confused

RedHelenB · 19/02/2022 15:47

@Glitterandmud

My friends dd has a watch that she can track her on, got it when she wanted to walk home from school with her friends, she can phone it too so if she sees she is dawdling at the park she can phone her.
I find that so sad. Some of the best times as a kid are away from adults, dawdling in the park.
blueshoes · 19/02/2022 15:52

@BoredZelda

Just because you can do something doesn't me you should.

Just because you’ve always done something, doesn’t mean it’s better.

Just because you have technology doesn't mean its a good thing for humanity.

Just because you didn’t used to have technology, doesn’t make it worthless now.

BoredZelda is spot on.
PJsAndRainyDays · 19/02/2022 15:57

@COL1N

I dont know! She is never out of my sight but these things happen.
They really don't happen though do they. The changes are absolutely minuscule and worrying like this will drive you mad.

Maybe you should teach your kids the value of stuff so they dont bloody lose them in the first place.

Seriously just look after your shit better. Including your own kids.

Is it not maybe a bit nasty to call people insane Confused

trumpisagit · 19/02/2022 17:39

I would think it was a big deal if someone tagged me.
Much more suited to pets than humans.

Bringsexyback · 19/02/2022 17:40

My kids knowingly have the key rings so I’m hoping that a kidnapper might throw away their phone thinking that they’re being tracked but wouldn’t necessarily think about their keys

karmakameleon · 19/02/2022 17:50

If I were a two year old I would fully expect my mum to want to know where I was at all times. Wanting to know where your toddler is is quite different to stalking another adult.
Johnnypiratesfriend · 19/02/2022 17:59

You can get bracelets wrist bands to put on with your number in or I find a pen and writing my phone number on their arm works too. I only use it if I'm going somewhere busy like the local fair or big days out like beamish. Sometimes you take your eyes of them for a minute and they've found something interesting in the opposite direction.

TheYearOfSmallThings · 19/02/2022 18:10

I think it's a great idea! Many times I have briefly panicked because I've lost sight of my DS.

2bazookas · 19/02/2022 18:23

When my youngest was 2, I I just biro-ed the address of our holiday house on his leg in case he got lost.
He did, and was kindly returned to base by the person who found him.

Yes!! One told op to get professional help. Do they get off being so nasty?

Op, I've never heard of AirTags until now but I think it's a good idea . Why not use the extra security?
