Neighbours' Dog

We have new neighbours at the back of our house, so our house looks out onto their back garden and vice versa.
They seem to leave their dog out in the garden every day. Not sure if it's all day as garden isn't all visible but he's out there a fair bit, howling and trying to get in for hours at a time. They've left him out there today in torrential rain and awful winds, and he's running about, crying and looking frightened. I don't know what to do. I've heard the RSPCA won't do anything in situations like this but leaving him outside in this weather seems cruel. Any ideas? We don't know them as houses are on different roads and they're very new.

Nasty bastards. Hope they get what's coming to them and the poor, earless doggo gets rescued. Angry

@Easterbunnyiswindowshopping

So in police care isn't better than being abused? Give your head a shake... Being pts is better than abuse... And if it is a pit bull and been abused it's demeanor won't be great if it got out...
How the hell do you know it's being abused? It's been left outside. Being pts is better than staying outside?! Give your head a shake.

I can't believe you are arguing that you're the one that has the correct opinion on this. Christ on a bike. Please lord tell me you don't have a dog!

My cat shot out the door this morning. Couldn't get him back in before I had to go out. When I came home he was crying at the back door and looked like he'd being trying to get in a while as there were muddy marks up the window.

I'll take him to the vets first thing tomorrow to get pts. Because that is better Hmm

Oh this makes me so sad. I have a staffy and she hates the wind and rain. She's short-haired as most SBT's are and I'm sure she feels the wind and rain more because of this. Loves nothing more than a cuddle under a blanket ❤️

@14thtimelucky

And they aren’t dangerous, just to reiterate.
One just literally killed a 10 year old boy only recently!

And they aren’t dangerous
bollocks.

Rather a lot of them on this list of fatal dog attacks in the UK

The dog looks very much like a Cane Corso with docked ears. We have one, so I recognise that profile ...

Wankers have cropped his ears.
Please report the arseholes. It’s definitely a staff cross, I can’t quite tell from the pictures what though. I did thinkaybe mastiff / corso type, but looking again I don’t think so.

Either way poor things shouldn’t be out

Oh, that's interesting you say that! My dog was attacked by one, and as he sunk his teeth in and tore my dog's arse apart his owner said, "Don't worry, he won't bite."
hammerandtong · 18/02/2022 22:50

Maybe another neighbor could help you get assistance. The owners might actually change their mind and bring the dog inside if enough people complain.

SoItWas · 18/02/2022 22:54

Could he possibly have a big comfy box you can't see?

Vispa · 18/02/2022 22:59

I once saw a dog that was being left outside for long periods including in bad weather (saw the poor thing sat dripping in the pouring rain) I called the rspca and they did attend and checked on the dog, and the owners were told to stop leaving it outside with no shelter (which they did). It is worth calling them if you are worried.

SoItWas · 18/02/2022 23:00

*Because if so, the owners might think he's using it, and not realise he's not/how distressed he is. If it was something like that (or say the dog has access to another part of the house, another way, but still insists on trying to get into living room via French doors, etc), reporting would make them aware.

So I say, yes, continue to report, until changes are made.
