To ask where you got your colourful wedding dress?

I’m getting married this summer. Civil ceremony, then a seated three course meal, followed by a big, messy party. Maximalist colour scheme, lots of booze, hopefully general good times.

We’re not at all traditional, and I’d like a bright colourful showstopper of a dress. Has anyone bought anything similar recently? Where did you buy it? Any designers you would recommend?

@bridgetreilly Thank you! They look great.

@Sn0tnose What a fab place! I wish it wasn’t so far away from me! ☹️

[quote Hydrate]I don't know if steam punk is your style but when I saw the red dress you posted I thought of actress Courtney Hopes beautiful dress. Have a look, just for fun!

Not quite my sort of thing, but utterly gorgeous! I hope I look half as good on my wedding day!

I had a bespoke purple dress made by these ladies. It was an amazing experience. The website is mostly black dresses but they can make anything in any colour!

...and it was really good value compared with other dressmakers I approached. Like REALLY good value!

Dig for Victory in Brighton (and online) make some gorgeous dresses, both bridal white/cream etc and colours - mine was described as a bridesmaid dress but I wore it for the big day as white was never going to be my style!

I found the dress I wanted in ivory and had it dyed a bright crimson red. The shop did it for me, no problem.

It was a tight bodice with a ruched neckline, buttons up the back, long skirt with a small train, matching bolero jacket.

This was nearly 22 years ago.

Demetrios have some bright red dresses in their collection. Eg this www.demetrios.com/gb/dresses/wedding-dresses/demetrios-collection/style-am12

Also House if Mooshki

All made in the North East. If you go to them direct they also can make changes to any of the dresses eg do them in different colours etc.

I wore a pale pink dress with gold sequin detail from Tadashi Shoji. Loved it!

DoucheCanoe · 09/02/2022 21:27

Tigermilly online.

Sweetlikejollof · 09/02/2022 22:32

@ClockWatcher1986 Their bespoke dresses start at £2K. If that’s really good value, how expensive were the other dressmakers?!

£2K is the upper end of my budget for this and I’d consider that luxe, not a bargain. I think I’m poorer than you. 😂

I ended up not getting married in a white dress and I love the fact I can re-wear it. But for a while I really struggled to find something I liked enough. I ended up with this dress from Zimmermann - worth a browse but it’s more boho in style.

I also looked at The Outnet which someone has already suggested, they have lots of high end gowns which are discounted - can be hit and miss on sizing but may be worth checking!

www.theoutnet.com/en-gb/shop/clothing/dresses/gowns

I also looked at:
www.pronovias.com/gb/cocktail-dresses?p=7

jennypackham.com/

www.halfpennylondon.com/ - believe you can change the colour on these as production is in the U.K. worth enquiring if you see something you like, may end up being very expensive.

Good luck finding your dress x

Sorry! Blush I got married about 8 years ago, sounds like they have gone up in the world and their prices have too!
Best of luck with the dress hunt! A friend bought a really fancy gown from Pret a Porter (so not wedding specific) and that was gorgeous!

@saltedcaramelhotchocolate

@ClockWatcher1986 Don’t worry about it. I’m pleased that business is clearly booming for them. The dresses look lovely. Smile

And, thanks!

I had my custom dress made from Petra, very tentative and talented. Her style is feminine romantic but she makes also custom orders on a dress you may like. #callistebride

worriedatthemoment · 11/02/2022 09:06

I didn't have bright but did have a colour and it was just a bridesmaid dress really bit looked bridal enough and wasn't white/ ivory which is hat I wanted to avoid
And also loads cheaper as considered a bridesmaid dress as opposed to a wedding dresss

Sweetlikejollof · 11/02/2022 17:02

@BethanySweet I’ve just had a look at callistebride on Insta and the dresses are really lovely!
