To ask where you got your colourful wedding dress?

I’m getting married this summer. Civil ceremony, then a seated three course meal, followed by a big, messy party. Maximalist colour scheme, lots of booze, hopefully general good times.

We’re not at all traditional, and I’d like a bright colourful showstopper of a dress. Has anyone bought anything similar recently? Where did you buy it? Any designers you would recommend?

No idea of the designer but once saw on say yes to the dress a bride who wore a white tea length dress but had different coloured net petticoats underneath which you could see. She also wore bright blue shoes and the bridesmaids carried multi coloured windmills instead of flowers. They got married on a pier. It has always stuck in my mind. Came across as low key but lotsbofvfun.

Look on Ever Pretty for ideas. I've bought all DD's evening dresses from them , surprisingly good quality for price - I pay for a dressmaker to make custom alterations as she's non standard sized, around £60.

Another idea is chi chi London.

I don't know any expensive sites sorryGrin

I bought a prom dress from USA. It took a long while to arrive, but they have allsorts of different dresses for much less than any wedding dress here.

A friend of mine had her wedding dress made in a pistachio green raw silk. It was beautiful!!

Lellochip · 08/02/2022 22:18

As an alternative option, I saw this and thought it was beautiful!

I’ve been married 7 years, but got one for the festivals! Grin
You can put whatever you want on the back, I put ‘Believe’!

@Mufflette

Net a porter or the Outnet - there's a one shoulder red dress on the Outnet at the moment that would be my number one choice if I were getting married!
I think I’ve found that dress. It’s absolutely stunning!

I was coming on to say Lucy Can't Dance but have seen a pp has already suggested. Her dresses are beautiful, very obviously still bridal but colourful and she takes custom orders.

bert3400 · 08/02/2022 22:30

I had something very similar to this. It was hand made in silk . It was stunning and I love it. Will wear it again when I'm back to my skinny phase Hmm

This is similar to a dress you posted up thread OP. I've seen a video of someone actually wearing it and it's stunning! (I'll find it).

Have a look at The Couture Company

FreiasBathtub · 08/02/2022 23:02

Ha! I was just coming on to say Lucy Can't Dance as well. Their Instagram has some beautiful pics of actual brides, you can dip dye the dresses in a whole range of ways and they are so creative.

Wow the red needle & thread one you found is so beautiful! I’m imagining it with a dark skin tone and it would be just mwah (chef’s kiss)

Velvet Birdcage in Worthing.

They can design a dress for you or you can choose one of their designs, but swap the top of one to go with the skirt of another or add/remove straps, change fabrics, different colours etc. And they do fittings so it’s perfect for you.

They do bridal and occasion dresses. I got my wedding dress from them and another two occasion dresses and would definitely use them again.

Hydrate · 09/02/2022 05:03

I don't know if steam punk is your style but when I saw the red dress you posted I thought of actress Courtney Hopes beautiful dress. Have a look, just for fun!

I suppose it could be. I’m quite lazy, though, and it seems like way more work. Grin
