I sent my request through to the surgery last Monday on their electronic system . Rang the pharmacy to see if it was ready and they told me it wasn't and that I should allow two weeks. It seems like a long time.

2 weeks in ludicrous.

Ours take 2 to 3 working days if it's put through online. If you get a GP appointment (phone call, as they don't see anyone these days!) it will very likely be ready that next day.

THE next day, not that next day! Hmm

doadeer · 08/02/2022 16:07

Oh a couple hours it's sent to the pharmacy for collection. It's super fast

Merryoldgoat · 08/02/2022 16:08

I request via surgery online portal and it’s at chemist for collection next working day as a rule. Occasionally same day.

Mine was ready on the same day I ordered it last week - that's exceptional, though. I did once get a request dropped on the floor because I requested it too early (with no email, so I didn't realise until I went to try and collect it). Ours don't let you order too far in advance (so allowing 2 weeks would be impossible), although you can put a note on if there's a particular reason, such as going on holiday.

Normally 48 hours, told a week is best just in case there are any holdups.
I agree with PP 2 weeks seems long.

Mo1911 · 08/02/2022 16:13

Order on Monday (for example) ready and waiting at the pharmacy on the Wednesday

2bazookas · 08/02/2022 16:25

Our longterm repeat prescriptions are automatically sent from the GP medical centre to our local pharmacy which dispenses 2 months worth, about 10 days before the previous one will run out. I never have to order them.

caringcarer · 08/02/2022 17:08

3 days. 1 day for request to go to go. 1 day approved. 1 day medication to arrive at chemists.

I order mines and dhs online through our drs. It's issued on a Monday and inget a text usually on the Tues to say its ready. My Dhs is a larger prescription and is usually ready by the Thurs.
Is the prescription something they have to order in specially? As that can cause longer wait times?
