I sent my request through to the surgery last Monday on their electronic system . Rang the pharmacy to see if it was ready and they told me it wasn't and that I should allow two weeks. It seems like a long time.

Ps I use the nhs app so very efficient

MorningStarling · 08/02/2022 14:29

Three working days from requesting something at Dr to being issued it at Pharmacy is the standard here, which seems reasonable.

Excluding all the times they mislay it or put the wrong medication in.

ParkheadParadise · 08/02/2022 14:30

24 to 48 hrs Max.

Toanewstart23 · 08/02/2022 14:32

Nhs app is superb

DrWhoNowww · 08/02/2022 14:35

I use Lloyds direct, can quite frequently have prescriptions delivered to my door in 4 days.

That’s prescription request, dr sign off, processing and dispatch and Royal Mail delivery.

If I choose not to have delivery I can sometimes pick up same day using the code (if I’ve requested before 10am say) if not next day collection.

2 weeks is ridiculous.

Iamanicepersonreally · 08/02/2022 14:38

About a week

frogsbreath · 08/02/2022 14:39

At my surgery I can't even order a repeat until a week before I run out. Allowing two weeks is ridiculous. My current gp asks 2 and a half working days, my previous 2-4 days.

NotExactlyHappyToHelp · 08/02/2022 14:43

I work in a pharmacy. We’d have the prescription ready within 24 hours maximum of receiving it electronically. If we didn’t have the medication we order it in and it’s usually delivered that afternoon or the next morning unless it’s a special or it’s out of stock with the supplier.

5-7 days seems like a very long time for a pharmacy to dispense a script. I’d be looking to move to be honest.

MandyCarter · 08/02/2022 14:44

Ours state 14 days so that's 10 working days.

AllOfUsAreDead · 08/02/2022 14:46

Less than a day going by the fact I ordered another prescription yesterday and got it early today.

That pharmacy sounds crap.

sofakingcool · 08/02/2022 14:46

On average 3-4 days

Sirzy · 08/02/2022 14:48

I order Ds meds first thing on a Monday morning. The ones from the GP are then at the pharmacy by Wednesday.

Ones from the consultant are delivered the next day.

TeenPlusCat · 08/02/2022 14:52

Officially 2 working days, but often ready same afternoon if request in by 9am.

Fairyliz · 08/02/2022 14:56

Used to be 3 working days pre Covid now it’s nearer 7.
My doctors is another one who randomly decides you need a check before prescribing again but then has no appointments available. I’ve tried ordering medicine 3 weeks in advance but they won’t let you do this either, two weeks is maximum.
Not sure what will happen if I ever decide to go on holiday again.

Floralnomad · 08/02/2022 15:05

I use Lloyds direct delivery and usually it takes a week from me putting in an online request to it landing in my doormat , on the occasions it’s taken longer it’s usually because Lloyds haven’t got the stock to send . Our GPs do a quick turnaround, probably because they barely see any patients anymore .

mumda · 08/02/2022 15:12

Our GP has had their contract revoked. Our GP services are being managed by a caretaking practice and we have until April to decide which GP we want.

I've put in for a repeat. And now I have to ring for a contraception review. Which I've not had one of for years (probably one of the reasons they've had the contract revoked. I'm fairly certain the phone system not working was another reason.)

So now I'm on the phone to try to make an appointment.

Normally a few days by requesting online.
But this is going to be long haul.

BeyondMyWits · 08/02/2022 15:16

3-4 working days at the pharmacy I work at.

Depends how a repeat is ordered. If electronically via the surgery it is quicker than on a paper repeat handed into the pharmacy. Depends if it is commonly in stock or has to be ordered too.

NightmareSlashDelightful · 08/02/2022 15:20

Cancel the cheque Change your nominated pharmacy

Lennybenny · 08/02/2022 15:45

We have to allow 4 days but sometimes it's longer as they lose it but 2 weeks is ridiculous as you can't even order it usually until there's a week left on the prescription.

NoLongerTroels · 08/02/2022 15:50

48 hours for us.

CreamFirstThenJamOnTop · 08/02/2022 15:52

Wow, that sounds incredibly slow.
Usually 24-48 hours of requesting it here, unless I request on Friday.

RantyAunty · 08/02/2022 15:58

Depends on how busy the pharmacy is.
10 minutes to an hour maybe.

raspberrymuffin · 08/02/2022 15:59

Usually 2 days here. DH has had some more urgent prescriptions come through the same day. Once when I went to collect an urgent one they hadn't actually had it through from the GP yet but the pharmacist sent me away with a day's supply anyway then delivered the rest the next day. I knew they were good, but I didn't realise how much better than some places Shock

Tdcp · 08/02/2022 16:03

It's usually less than 24 hours, sometimes 48 but rarely.

Goldandguns · 08/02/2022 16:03

My repeat prescription takes around a week from putting the request through on the app to having the meds delivered to my house.
