To ask the best cream for chapped lips

I don't normally put anything on my lips at all. Ever. Last week I did (friend gave me some Body Shop lip balm). My lips are now a cracked ball of pain. Blood, throbbing. Pain. I can't smile. I can't eat without eyes watering. Is post a photo but it would require a trigger warning.
Any recommendations for miracle cream??? I'm desperate! Thanks!

I am so thrilled that Blistex is back, I missed it sooo much. Nearly everything else sets my skin off (I found a couple of ok substitutes but still yearn for Blistex relief - after a bad reaction to lipstick years ago it's the one I relied on for years as most others left me itchy and in a rash)

purplesequins · 08/02/2022 08:09

palmers cocoa butter intensive hand cream.
the tub, not the tube.

muddyford · 08/02/2022 08:10

Blistex. The cream if you can get it. I sailed competitively three days a week, throughout the year, and never had chapped lips after my Mum bought me some. It's worth the money.

TheDoveFromAboveCooCoo · 08/02/2022 08:10

Nivea hydro care. I discovered it last year and will never get another balm again. I get very dry chapped lips especially this time of year and this stuff just makes them feel amazing.

I buy it in bulk now lol.

Jellycatrabbit · 08/02/2022 08:29

@Alonelonelylonersbadidea I am wondering if you've actually had an allergic reaction to something in the body shop lip balm, in which case I would be really careful about trying other balms and maybe check ingredients against the body shop one first.

Vaseline and sudocreme should be OK but I believe lanolin allergies are possible.

ShinyS1 · 08/02/2022 08:57

Blistex. My DS had extremely sore and chapped lips, nothing worked and I tried everything! Bought some Blistex (relief cream, not the intensive moisturiser) and his lips were back to normal in 2 days. Amazing stuff, and just come back into stock, which was a relief as I only had a tiny drop left!

Alonelonelylonersbadidea · 08/02/2022 09:08

Oh no! I think you're right @Jellycatrabbit .

I rushed out this morning and bought both Carmex and Blistex.medplus.

The Carmex has made me feel like I'm duck pouting my way through the office and I only just got here!!!!

Sudocrem didn't make it worse last night but didn't help either. But maybe it is so bad I need to do it again tonight.
I'm now afraid of trying the Blistex Shock

Spellcheck Dove!! Will I ever learn??

BLISTEX and CARMAX

PheasantsNest · 08/02/2022 09:32

Blistex is amazing. I had such sore lips as I work outside. They were much better by the next day.

BoodleBug51 · 08/02/2022 09:34

I walk my dogs in all weathers and the only thing that's ever worked for me is the Elizabeth Arden lip cream. It's the one in a pot, lasts forever and I literally never have sore lips anymore. I use every morning and last thing before bed religiously.

nannybeach · 08/02/2022 09:37

Vaseline, pawpaw is good. Lips don't have moisture glands. Dermatologist I saw said don't use sudo on anything.

VitaminBCDE · 08/02/2022 09:38

Have spent a fortune on lip balms over the past year. Carmex has been the best.

AlphaAlpha · 08/02/2022 09:46

I have also had years of buying lip balms and suffering dry/sore/flaky cracked lips.
After a recommendation on here last year I bought Nuxe rive de miel (Amazon) and have honestly not had an episode since, the stuff is bloody amazing. It's not cheap but a pot lasts ages.

A PP suggested Kamillosan which again was brilliant but sadly no longer sold in the UK.

@AlphaAlpha ooooh I use Nuxe oil on my body and my face with no issue. I'm buying some. To add to my growing collection... thanks!

I used the blistex intensive moisture in a white tube. Its really good and starts to help straight away. It tingles a bit but doesn't feel like you have anything on your lips when it has soaked in. It was on offer in sainsburys last week!!
And for the person who asked about paw paw lip balm I am sure I have seen this in aldi recently. Although never tried it. Might have to have a look next time I am in...
