SAUSAGES!

I eat a good diet, mostly unprocessed and love cooking. I’m a bit less fit since pandemic but slim, otherwise healthy.

Mostly eat stuff like fish, chicken, veg, make my own sauces, etc.

But I want to enjoy sausages, too!
I’m not afraid of the calories, but have heard horror stories about processed meats.
AIBU to hope that eating a plate of sausages twice per week won’t harm me, or will the sausagey damage seep in over time?
I like the ’Naked’ brand of chipolata, no nitrates, etc, but it’s still goddammit sausage innit?

Is there such a thing as death by sausage? Do I walk away from the pork shelf now whilst I still have time? Grin

Booths doesn't exist round here. No swirly sausage for me ☹

As part of a healthy balanced diet, I don't think there's any problem with eating sausages, particularly if they're 'good' ones.

I usually only eat them when they're reduced otherwise I'd be eating them far more often. At Christmas, I rediscovered Waitrose cocktail sausages - pork, with a little black pepper and nutmeg. Delicious. I've got a few packs in my freezer which I'm working my way through.

@Butterismylife

The Booths curly Cumberland !
😩 The Booths for our whole region (!) closed, but I’m not surprised they do a proper Cumberland.

I watched one of those ‘food factory’ shows a couple of years ago. It featured Heck sausages which claim to be 97% pork. I was a bit sceptical of this claim, because we all know that the offcuts & dodgy bits go into bangers don’t we? Well, not these ones. They were made from huge joints of lean pork shoulder, minced up & seasoned, and that’s all.

Black Farmer and M&S ‘best ever’ sausages are also delicious.

Polish & Romanian sausages are great. Much higher meat content. Tbh, I prefer loads of things from our local Polish shop (sour cream, pate, biscuits, ketchup, pickles, Salami, cheese spread). Don't be scared of going in & asking staff questions. You'll discover loads of new meals & meet some lovely people.

gogohm · 09/02/2022 07:07

The better quality ones have less junk in them. They come under processed but are are gad as cured meats

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 09/02/2022 07:11

I can only hear that dog from "That's Life" when I see the word SAUSAGES ...

... and sometimes I have to say it out loud too! Blush
