What can you eat in Mac donalds if you are a vegetarian

Please suggest. Are all burgers either have beef or get cooked in beef oil? Can vegetarians and vegans eat from the outlets at all?

I seem to be th only one who really disliked the mcplant. Found it so tasteless and hated the texture.

TheBitterBoy · 05/02/2022 07:44

As a vegetarian in a meat eating family, sometimes we go to McDonalds. It would never be my first choice, but the veggie options are fine.

LyndaLaHughes · 05/02/2022 07:48

@Backtoreality1

If I was veggie I don’t think I would want to pay into a company that makes its fortune from animal products. The veggie/vegan options are just a palliative to make them appear animal friendly
You aren't a veggie and your post shows a total lack of understanding of the reasons why people may be vegetarian and also implies that vegetarians must attain to a ridiculous level of standards. Given the majority of restaurants make their profits from meat dishes- are you implying that vegetarians should never eat out?
Sunshineandrainbow · 05/02/2022 07:51

If you can, swap to burger king as the vegan whopper is so much better then the Mc Plant. And the vegan roayle at burger king is also delicious.

skipperjonce · 05/02/2022 07:53

Just don't go.

BetterBee · 05/02/2022 07:56

Can you swap the vegan cheese in the mc plant for normal cheese? I had one the other day which I liked but not keen on the cheese.

TracyMosby · 05/02/2022 07:58

I had the mcplant the other day and loved it.

Again, im the only vegan in the family so at least i can eat in mcdonalds now rather than just watch my dh and children eat.

@londonrach

You don't. Yabu. It's a burger place.
But veggie burgers are a thing?! McDonald's had always had a veggie option for as long as I remember. The veggie burger of old was delicious, I'm sad they replaced it. The current mc plant burger is fully vegan. I think the veggie dippers are vegan too. Nothing is fried in beef oil, they are cooked on a grill
Scout2016 · 05/02/2022 08:37

The veggie deluxe burger really pisses me off. As a pp said, it's not a burger, just two dippers in a bun. Same dippers you get in the wrap I guess, just in a bun. So half arsed.

Do they still do the spicy bean burger? I loved that. I'm it veggie but the old McDonald's veggie deluxe and the bean burger were my main choice. Not been to Burger King for years though as they never seem to be in handy places (for me)
hangrylady · 05/02/2022 08:56

The McPlant in vegan. Very nice too, I'm not even veggie and I order it.

If you were veggie, you'd be REALLY hungry as you would be excluding yourself from 99% of supermarkets and food shops if you refused to buy food from anywhere that made a profit from meat!
Elmo230885 · 05/02/2022 09:24

The Midlands is very nice. I'm not a big fan of the veggie finger type burger. I don't go often but I'm a veggie in a family of meat eaters so it's nice if we do all go that there is something I can enjoy.

LemonViolet · 05/02/2022 09:24

I’m not currently veggie (have been veggie/vegan in the past) but still prefer to eat veggie when out and about and about 80% of the time at home, and I actually like ordering veggie options from places that wouldn’t traditionally be veggie friendly, the more popular they are, the more widespread it will become.

Coasterfan · 05/02/2022 09:28

I can’t believe how much love the McPlant is getting I thought it was dry and horrible, although our local McDs is shit. I usually get a big Mac without meat and a side of mozzarella sticks then put them in, that’s nice! The veggie wrap is ok as well. It would never be my first choice of somewhere to eat but the kids love it.

mumda · 05/02/2022 09:32

You will be inhaling meat particles in the air.
Don't do it.

PrivateParty · 05/02/2022 09:32

You can eat the fries and the veggie dippers (themselves or in a wrap or bun). Or the mcplant but not tried that.

Absolutely
LetHimHaveIt · 05/02/2022 10:03

I really like the McPlant. It's how BK meatless whoppers used to taste, about 20 years ago.

Nothing Because Maccy D has its own herds and flocks etc and kills about 20 million cows a year and for every cow killed on average in this country 30 chickens are killed just because of the size difference you can get about 2000 burgers out of one cow but you cant get many nuggets out of a chicken.

if you really want to know and dont care about ethical companies go read the menu on their website.

SartresSoul · 05/02/2022 10:13

Mcplant or veggie burger. The Mcplant is amazing. No it isn’t cooked in beef fat, it’s all cooked in vegetable oil.

PlacidPenelope · 05/02/2022 10:17

I agree with both of these comments the Burger King Bean Burger and the original McDonald's Veggie Deluxe were delicious, I wish they still did them. I want vegetarian products that are vegetable based not fake meat looking/tasting. Also, I am not vegan, I don't want vegan cheese, or vegan mayonnaise too often it seems the vegetarian option anywhere is vegan and consists of some weird fake meat type substitute.

StripedMousse · 05/02/2022 10:31

Is this a stealth advert?!

liveforsummer · 05/02/2022 10:44

@PlacidPenelope I'm not even veggie so if I want something that looks and tastes like meat I'll buy a beef burger. I just like those type of veggie burgers with actual vegetables in them and like you want real cheese with it
