Purely posting here for traffic.

At about which BMI would you consider yourself or others to be 'slim'?

Yes @JeezLouise me too! My waist is 79cm currently with a bmi of 19. Classic apple- all weight goes on around my middle so I have to work to keep my weight down to make sure the waist to hip ratio is okay.
I also have severe scoliosis which has never been treated so have one massive hip and a twisted hump ribcage which I think makes clothes fit differently so despite my low weight, I am still a size 12-14.

Sorry @JeeezLouise

I wouldn’t go on bmi at all, I’m classed as obese but wearing size 8 maternity jeans (I am 37 weeks pregnant, not just wearing maternity jeans to say I’m a size 8 lol) before pregnancy I was a size 12 bottom, size 16 top. So not slim but I wouldn’t have ever thought obese!

24.8 for me.I always laugh when I see that.
I am slim- I just gym and weight lift a lot. So bmi is a useless indicator tbh

cherrybonbons · 05/02/2022 04:06

I am also a comfortable size 8

cherrybonbons · 05/02/2022 04:09

Oh yeah and body fat percentage is 18.5% I'm just trying to give an indicator of why bmi is useless because I was in the 18-20 range I would look extremely ill and not slim

readingismycardio · 05/02/2022 05:00

I'm a size 8 and my BMI is 22. I could probably go a bit lower, but I'm not willing to put the work in it Grin

Well I've just checked and my bmi is 24.5, but I'm size 8 in clothes. I'm 5ft4 but I hit the gym 5 times a week and weight train. Muscle carries differently to fat though. I wouldn't go off the bmi at all, it depends on an individual's build, usually you can see when someone is overweight or getting close to it. That would be the indicator I'd look out for with my child.

You've just described me- I'm 5ft 3 and gym 4-5 times a week. I weigh between 60 and 61kg usually without much tracking of what I eat

My body fat is 18.5%
I could cut my diet and get down to 57kg but I wouldn't enjoy my life at all and I feel my body is already slim.
BMI is a really poor indicator - mine is 24.8
