Today, I've seen this exchange.

Person 1: And most trans women aren’t men.

Person 2: They are males.

Person 1: And you are an abusive bigot for asserting so. Blocked.

This would be of very little significance, except person 1 is the vice-principal of a Scottish university. The University of the West of Scotland, to be precise.

Saying that "they are males" is abusive bigotry? In that case, is there any way that anyone could express their opinion that transwomen are transwomen without being called abusive or bigoted?

If senior academics can honestly believe the above is bigoted, what implications does that have for Scottish hate crime legislation in practice?

Link about the bill for those who haven't heard about it: www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-scotland-politics-53580326

YANBU: "these are males" is not abusive or bigoted to post.

YABU: "these are males" is an abusive and bigoted sentence.

@TheKeatingFive

My point is that is the sort of language that perpetuates those stereotypes.

I don't see any point in trying to ignore those stereotypes exist either. They do. I believe personally that they are societally constructed, which is why I stated that clearly and put them in inverted commas. I don't feel I've been unclear in my meaning, so I'm not entirely sure what you're trying to achieve here.

So is barking at strangers and random cats and sniffing genatalia a sterotypical male or a female activity or a type of social construct?

You can tell he doesn’t know what the arguments are- “most” transwomen are not men?! What does that mean? I would argue that that is more “bigoted” than suggesting that all transwomen are of the male sex which is just biological fact and pretty key to being a transwoman.

TheMarzipanDildo · 04/02/2022 00:32

And to the person who suggested there would be more to this- I really really doubt it. This is the level of debate. Women are getting reported to the police for saying that men shouldn’t be in women’s prisons.

@UndertheCedartree

I'm guessing when he says 'most' he means some men call themselves 'trans' in order to invade women only spaces. I may be wrong but what else could he mean? But if it is this then that wilis exactly the issue with allowing transwomen in these spaces, if men can just call themselves 'trans' if they aren't even actual transwomen. But the whole thing is confusing! Don't think he knows what he is on about but just wants to appear 'woke'.
He knows exactly what he is saying.

The opening was about how males wont claim to be trans while quoting from a thread complaining about MN.

He went on to claiming that a human with a penis is not male but female.

No one is that ignorant and yet has managed to advance in a career to be appointed to managment role in a Uni.

Weremales yes.Aremales no. They are transwomen.

@FurbleSocks You have misinterpreted my meaning - as I typed this sentence, I was referring to the pp who "used to know two transwomen", so I referred to them in the past tense as she knew them in the past, not as they were male in the past. Because, as others have said, the fact is that every cell in their bodies was, is and always will be male. How they wish to outwardly present themselves can, of course, change infinitely if that is their preference, but they can't change their basic biology.

I was referring to the original exchange the OP screen shotted. The person used the word are and I challenged it with were. I don't remember your particular post.

@SolasAnla - ok, well I still have no idea what he's going on about!

Its willy wagging for the removal of single sex women's spaces.

Usual male posturing to advocate to exclude some special males from males spaces.

These special males must be reclassified out of the men/male classification.

Women be kind.
When you are told that the penis is not attached to a male believe, and accept the words as the truthful proclamation.
Trust that these special males are special.
It never happens but if the occasional "incident" happens and a girl/woman is harmed just its just an occasional "incident".

Willy wagger short hand for pro-penis access to womens spaces and any collateral damage is acceptable margin of error.
