To say I wish neighbours' husband was not WFH

tulips27 · 02/02/2022 14:14

Nothing serious but following on from a couple of threads from disgruntled spouses of people WFH, I want to make my own complaint as a neighbour- it's not just spouses that are affected. My neighbour's husband is always hanging around, nothing wrong with the man but it feels like he is always there! I want to go outside in my own garden without someone always being there all the time! It's a lovely day today and I could be outside doing a bit of work but I feel I can't. I know what the replies will be but someone please tell me I'm not the only one who feels this way. Grin

I’m afraid in this case you’re being a little unreasonable 😂

theremustonlybeone · 02/02/2022 14:15

He is probably thinking the same as you Grin

TickerTocker · 02/02/2022 14:16

Is it really working outside in the garden weather where you are ?! Hmm

Crunchymum · 02/02/2022 14:17

Where are you to be having a lovely day that you could be in the garden?

BobHadBitchTits · 02/02/2022 14:17

You're not any more entitled to use the garden than he is.

He probably wishes you'd fuck off.

DisforDarkChocolate · 02/02/2022 14:18

You know you're being unreasonable but I'd love it if my annoying neighbours were out of the house during office hours. A whole 8 - 9 hours with less noise and crap parking. At least they don't run a business from their home any more.

tulips27 · 02/02/2022 14:18

@BobHadBitchTits true but he is always in it and I am not, almost never.

Outrageous! A man of all things, being in their garden? During the daytime?? The world's gone fucking mad!!!

gannett · 02/02/2022 14:21

I always wonder whether the OPs complaining about other people WFH (whether their partners or neighbours) are at home themselves because they WFH as well, or because they don't work and therefore consider the home their domain. Both are wildly unreasonable.

MisAnn · 02/02/2022 14:21

I'm dreading summer for this reason. New neighbour moved in last year. Took ALL his conference calls on loudspeaker in the garden, in a language I don't understand and he is So Loud, the entire street must be able to hear him.
It's turned me into a winter person Grin.

UniBallEye · 02/02/2022 14:21

Just go out and be in your garden. How is it affecting you that he is in his?

newnameforthis76 · 02/02/2022 14:21

Are you saying you can’t set foot in your own garden whenever one of your own neighbours is in their own garden? Good grief. Get a grip or get a higher fence, one of the two.

tulips27 · 02/02/2022 14:22

@MorningStarling thank you! Grin

PJsAndRainyDays · 02/02/2022 14:22

Confused about what job he is able to do in the garden all day?!

SeeminglyOblivious · 02/02/2022 14:23

If he's standing with his face pressed up against your back windows, Yanbu.

If not, yabu.

alexdgr8 · 02/02/2022 14:25

exactly. how is it affecting you.
presumably it is not a communal garden ?

user1497207191 · 02/02/2022 14:25

You do realise it would be the same if your neighbour was retired or unemployed? It's pretty much part of normal life really.

Eileen101 · 02/02/2022 14:27

I know it's light-hearted, but I'm wondering why you couldn't go in your garden while he's in theirs?
Grin I'd query whether one or the other is sunbathing nude, but... It's February 🤷🏼‍♀️

Loopytiles · 02/02/2022 14:30

Like PPs I’m confused about why he’s ‘always’ in or next to your garden!

Does he have a garden office that overlooks your garden or something?

Flipflopblowout · 02/02/2022 14:32

You knowingly bought a house with next door neighbours and now you don't want the man to potter in his own garden. You are being a bit precious.

MajesticallyAwkward · 02/02/2022 14:35

I do wonder how the MNers function in the world. Is there a rota in place to ensure no neighbours are outside at the same time while everyone else sits completely still in silence away from windows so as never to be seen or heard and eats only a single lettuce leaf a day so as not to over eat, cause an offensive smell, or ~horror~ BBQ?

OP, just use your garden? If you can see each other a polite 'hello' over the fence and carry on...

Somanysocks · 02/02/2022 14:41

It's gardening and washing line weather in the south east for those wondering.

BashfulClam · 02/02/2022 14:45

He’s allowed to be in his home or garden though just like you are. Sorry but you are being unreasonable.

ChristmasTreeGorgeous · 02/02/2022 14:46

I’m afraid that unless he’s got his winky out, there’s nothing you can do.

WorriedGiraffe · 02/02/2022 14:46

I don’t get it, does he not normally live there? Or do you just refer to him as ‘neighbours husband’ rather than ‘neighbour’ because he’s a man? Would you be ok with the female neighbour wfh?

YABU but atleast it’s lighthearted!
