Hi

I am 5ft 3 and 82kg Sad.
I know i have left it so late but I have a wedding to go to in 2 weeks and would just love to lose a little bit in time for it - is 3/4kg possible?

Does anyone have a tried and tested method? Will Slimfast for 2 weeks give me results? Or No carbs diet?
I am planning to go to the gym 3/4x a week for the next fortnight.

Please help! Thank you

You mention sticking to 800 calories a day. I was allocated 1200 which worked very well. There was room In that amount for a banana or a few nuts if I was feeling hungry. 800 may not allow that . I took early retirement. I'm not sure I could have done my teaching job on only 800 calories a day. You may be aided by being very busy and not being able to stop to eat but you may be hampered by suddenly being absolutely starving and blowing the diet. On 1200 you are still in an 800 calorie deficite so you will still lose weight. It may be more sustainable than such a low amount.

I.lost 5lbs in a week in November. It wasn't through choice, but I could only eat toddler sized portions of food twice a day, no alcohol, no snacking, no sweet stuff. Lunch was half a tin of soup, nothing else. It was a miserable existence and continued for nine weeks when I continued to drop 1-2lb a week and then it plateaued as my appetite started to increase. It is possible, doesn't mean it will be pleasant. Going Hell for leather in the gym may be counter productive for you as it will make you hungry.

I lost 4 stone in 6 months in 2020 during lockdown, then I started eating cake and chocolate every day again and a load of it piled back on 😭

I used MyFitnessPal, stuck to 1600 calories a day at first decreasing to 1400 as my size and therefore calorie requirements decreased.

A typical day looked something like this.

B - scrambled egg/omelette or dippy eggs with asparagus. I'd add onion/spring onion/chilli/peppers/mushrooms to the scrambled egg or omelette to bulk it out and make it more interesting.

L - big portion of steamed green veg with loads of seasoning and a knobs butter with a few slices of torn up wafer thin chicken, ham or beef in it. Like a big warm salad. Very satisfying and only took 3 minutes to cook so easy for a quick lunch break.

D - meat and veg or rice.

Snacks were things like boiled egg, cheesestring, babybel, beef jerky, celery with peanut butter, full fat Greek yoghurt, full fat longley farms cottage cheese, veg sticks with hummus.

I also did the OurParks Couch to fitness program which is free on their website or as a YouTube playlist and is 3 exercise programmes a week covering cardio, core and glutes going from easier to harder over a 9 week period.

Honestly have never felt better than when I was doing this. I went from a 22/24 to a 14/16. Currently a 16/18 and have restarted calorie counting 1st Jan. 15lb gone so far in 4 weeks, with loads and loads left to shed.

I was 79kg three weeks ago. I did a version of fast 800 and lost 4lb per week in the first three weeks. I picked up an ankle injury just before that so had to stop exercise too - so it was all diet

Tips

No sugar including fruit
High protein low carb - no rice pasta bread potatoes etc but loads and loads of veg, chicken, fish, lean meat, salad etc
Cook it don’t buy it - ie avoid processed
Try for veg that grow above the ground not below
Carry some cashew nuts if you fear getting weak - high calorie but just a few gives a great boost
I am very prone to low blood sugar / weakness but not on this diet -because as soon as I eliminated sugar bread, rice pasta etc all of that stabilised for me

I aim for 200 - 300 cals at lunch and 500 - 600 at (lateish) dinner. So the fast period for me is around 9pm til 12.30pm. So no breakfast. Drink lots and lots of water and I also have black coffee in the morning

Plan and prepare is critical - even if you’re eating the same foods for several days don’t get caught with nothing prepared when you get home and are starving and / or tired

Good luck - I felt a lot better after just two weeks as all the bloating reduced too

You should disregard the claims of 7lbs / 3+ kilo a week, this simply isn't feasible unless you are obese to start with, running on a serious calorie deficit and exercising for many hours, which wouldn't be completely safe without professional supervision

The scales may say this number, but it is partly water retention / just carrying around less partially digested food in your gut. You simply cannot meet the 3500 calorie deficit a day to achieve these numbers through actual weight loss via burning fat.

Dixiechickonhols · 30/01/2022 22:10

TinySaltLick OP is obese so should lose more at first. I know I did when I was obese. If her diet has been rubbish recently, lots of takeaways etc then she may lose a lot so I don’t think what she’s aiming for is impossible.

I think the best option for you would be to sign up for the Fast800 12 week plan - i.e. not just the next two weeks!

You should lose a lot in the first two weeks, which will inspire you - but if you then relax after that, you'll put it all back (and probably more).

Calvinlookingforhobbes · 06/02/2022 21:41

OP, how’s it going?

LadyMaid · 06/02/2022 22:03

Do NOT do any high intensity exercise. In this short time, it will only make you hungry.

Water fast until lunchtime and then eat a small meal. Then at dinner time, have your main meal.

Avoid breads, pasta and desserts.
No alcohol at all.

Eat lots of vegetables. Raw if you can manage them.

Drink plenty of water.

And get around 9 hours of sleep a night.

Pick one day a week for a small treat after dinner.

Enjoy the wedding.

@Redhot24 i know this was yonks ago… But did you lose the weight and how did you feel about seeing photos?

I'm in the same predicament. 2 weeks to lose weight… wondering if there’s any point now!

InCheesusWeTrust · 17/10/2022 20:53

You will get million different opinions here.
Lots of people swear by x and y special diets because big loss in first week but that's often water weight.

If you want to keep it off after, you need to change some habits. Log everything in fitness pal for a day or two and see what's up. Eye opening! Then lower intake. You can find great ways to lower intake while still eating well. Take bit off x and y off the portion and add some nice veg for example. Egg salads can be mix of whole eggs and an eggwites. Massive cal difference but you still get goodness of the yolk as well.

Keep the gym! Exercise is bloody important for body and mind. You posture will be better, your mind feel better, it helps digestive, blood flow, everything. Plus burns some calories as a bonus. Do some muscle building exercise. Plenty to choose from so you can find what suits you.

One thing you should do is to forget about losing quickly for a wedding. It ain't gonna happen like that...
