To think I can lose weight in 2 weeks

Redhot24 · 30/01/2022 13:51

Hi

I am 5ft 3 and 82kg Sad.
I know i have left it so late but I have a wedding to go to in 2 weeks and would just love to lose a little bit in time for it - is 3/4kg possible?

Does anyone have a tried and tested method? Will Slimfast for 2 weeks give me results? Or No carbs diet?
I am planning to go to the gym 3/4x a week for the next fortnight.

Please help! Thank you

Look up Michael Mosley's Fast 800. Most people lose a lot in the first couple of weeks - it's mostly water weight of course but you'll feel and look slimmer for sure.

I probably wouldn't go to the gym actually as two weeks won't make much difference there, if anything starting intensive exercise can temporarily slow down weight loss.

LemonCake79 · 30/01/2022 14:35

@Redhot24, appreciate you've asked for diet tips but can you also get some magic 'suck it in' pants and book a nice blow dry on the day? That will also make you feel more confident about how you look.

Krustykrabpizza · 30/01/2022 14:40

I think you could with a crash diet but going to the gym for two weeks is going to make no difference, it takes a dedication over a long period to see benefits from exercise

stoppedlurking · 30/01/2022 14:42

Very possible. Cut out carbs and processed foods. Eat protein for breakfast 3 x egg omelette salads and vegetables in bulk. Snack on fage 0% Greek yogurt. Depends how disciplined you are. I would say 2 definitely but maybe 3 kgs is easily possible. Good luck.

NandorTheRelentlessCleaner · 30/01/2022 14:46

I would just go as you are and be comfortable (wear something that fits well and looks nice), not worth starving yourself and be miserable for 2 weeks only to then crash and jojo back up again

Maybe, instead, think long term and how you want to improve your health and how you feel, by tweaking what you eat (more fruit and veg, more whole foods, less sugar and takeaways and alcohol, more and regular exercise)

All my friends who do crash diets always feel miserable, mentally and physically, and then put the weight back on when they go "back to normal "

Best to tweak your "normal" imo. No quick results though, but long lasting result

Either way, good luck

Yes I really want to lose some and keep it off. I’m so miserable and feel like I’m losing the best years of my life to being fat. Almost never take any photos hate everything I wear and never feel confident. The weddings just a one day thing but dreading seeing the photos after.

I’m gonna order some non starchy veg and try to not eat carbs and keep to 800 calories.

I’m confused as to why some are saying not to exercise and no effects in 2 weeks? All I’ve ever been told to do is to do cardio to lose weight. Is this a new thing?

Atkins diet, worked twice to quickly loose 3 to 4 kgs in 2 weeks. But I always added a dash of milk to my tea! Good luck.

GrandDuchessRomanov · 30/01/2022 15:04

Does losing 3kg really make much of a difference if you are the weight you are?

Notreallyhappy · 30/01/2022 15:07

Drop all.processed carbs..eat lean protiens green vegetables no potatoes sweet potatoes rice pasta.
Drink lots of water and eat under 1000 calories a day..( think fast 800).

Calvinlookingforhobbes · 30/01/2022 15:10

Every 7000 deficit is roughly ( roughly!) 1kg of weight loss.

Calvinlookingforhobbes · 30/01/2022 15:11

Calorie deficit* it doesn’t actually matter what you eat, so long as you’re on a deficit

HalfShrunkMoreToGo · 30/01/2022 15:12

@Redhot24 weight loss is predominantly about what you eat. Building muscles, getting more toned and better posture so a better shape comes with exercise but will take more than 2 weeks to achieve.

You'll also find that you need to eat more to fuel your exercise. Definitely if yo7 want to make it a long term health initiative then you need both diet and exercise, if you want a quick fix then food is what will do the job.

SartresSoul · 30/01/2022 15:12

6lbs in 2 weeks is very doable, I’ve lost this in a week before. Try the 5:2 diet and lots of exercise.

I agree, but I know if I ate 1000 calories a day in the form of a sausage roll and a Snickers I would look and feel like shit, which probably isn't what the OP wants Grin
Dixiechickonhols · 30/01/2022 15:14

Eat plenty of protein, veg and water. You are better of doing it on healthy food and losing a bit and looking less bloated and healthy than slimming shakes and looking grey. Eggs, oats, salmon, stirfry, chicken, kvarg (it’s flavoured quark so filling), 0% Greek or skyr and berries. Lots of green veg.
What I’ve described is SlimmingWorld - it’s not buckets of pasta and muller lights.
I was obese like you when I started and lost 7.5 lb in first 2 weeks. Got to a healthy bmi in 6 months, lost 5 stone in 8 months to a 10/12.
Not hungry and feel well eating this way.

peachicetea · 30/01/2022 15:15

Hi I can lose dead on a stone in 2 weeks but I mean I only ear a salmon sandwich a day 😂 this is only for holidays tho . And guess what ! You will gain it all back . So although possible . It's not worth it at all

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 30/01/2022 15:18

Can you like weight in two weeks? Yes. But I've come to realise you've got to want to. Its very easy to sit on the sofa instead of exercising or have a cake with your coffee. You've got to want to lose weight more than that.

I've been at it for 4 weeks now. I'm very pleased with my 7lb (3kg) loss. Its taken a lot of effort... I've walked miles. Cut out lots of treats. But I know its worth it in the long run. Could I lose quicker? Probably. But I don't want to crash and burn.

Moonshine5 · 30/01/2022 15:20

Honestly speaking and I say this with respect as I have been there, that weight loss will only be noticeable to you.
Organise an outfit that you feel good wearing.
Make a start with your weight loss with this wedding. Know that you are not your weight and you will get there.
Good luck OP and I sincerely mean that.

AngelinaFibres · 30/01/2022 15:21

The only way to lose weight effectively is to consume fewer calories than you body needs each day so it has to burn its own fat stores. Download the My fitness pal app. Put in your height, weight and goal weight and it will calculate everything for you. I found it really helpful. It's free if you use the simple version. I did. It's great. You log what you eat each day and it shows you the calories you have eaten and what you have left.
The 2 week thing is a different issue. No matter what you do you can't make yourself a slim person in the photos in 2 weeks but if you starve yourself you will be an ill looking, grumpy, larger person. Start tomorrow with your weight loss plan. Do it in a safe and sustainable way and you will succeed in the next 6 months. You could look the way you want by the summer and for all the next summers. You can't realistically make yourself anything other than a slightly less fat person in 2 weeks. You will still hate the photos whether you lose a few pounds or not. But you can go wearing something lovely that suits you now and , if you start now, your weight loss 'journey'( awful word) will have begun. Good luck. You will get there. Flowers

Clearlynotmyname · 30/01/2022 15:26

Yes it's possible, certainly 2kg over 2 weeks. I agree with PPs - it's far more about diet than exercise (and if you're not careful exercise makes you hungrier), though obviously doing both will make you feel more toned.
If I need to drop a few kg say before a holiday I use my fitness pal religiously, both to work out my calorie allowance and stick to it. Good luck!

Redhot24 · 30/01/2022 15:43

Thank you everyone. I really appreciate it. Will keep you updated and hopefully post an update in a few weeks having lost some weight and feeling better !

OP,

How you feel about yourself is really what's important here.

If you get in the right headspace from this minute, join a gym (ladies gym? Classes? Something you enjoy), drink 2-3 litres of water a day and ditch the crap food, FROM NOW, in 2 days time, never mind two weeks, you will mentally feel 1000 times better.

Good weight loss starts in the head x

Coulddowithanap · 30/01/2022 16:18

Log all your food on my fitness pal. Don't cut your calories too drastically otherwise it's too easy to give up and binge.

Good advice. I did the my fitness pal when I wanted to lose some weight. I found breakfast easy and, if I ate something like scrambled ages on toast, I wasn't hungry at all until lunchtime. We normally eat around 7 and I found that too big a gap if I had had lunch at 1. I was very hungry by 6 and the temptation to blow the diet was strong. We moved our evening meal forwards to 6. After I had eaten ( no pudding) I was full for the rest of the evening. I think you said you work for the NHS so you are presumably on shifts. That will make it harder, perhaps, but you can do it.
Xmassprout · 30/01/2022 16:34

If you try this and it doesn't work, you're going to feel even worse about yourself which could potentially lead to weight gain.

You're better off finding an outfit that suits you right now, and looking into a sustainable, longer term solution to your health
