Boycott Hermes - a total disgrace

I will never EVER use this company again!

They lost my parcel worth £35.

Their insurance cover is a paltry £20. BUT even with that it is LITERALLY impossible to claim!!!!

There’s nothing on their website about claiming. Their own!!! tracking numbers are not accepted when trying to make a query! If you get through digitally you just get a “this parcel has not been delivered yet” automated message. Two weeks after it went missing. I tried to contact them through Resolver to get a claim form link - they sent one that doesn’t work. The next time it was just a link to their general website where it is impossible to make a claim from.

These people are really scammers.

Please be aware if you use them, there is a good chance they will lose your parcel and on top of that you will NEVER be able to make a claim, short of writing to the CEO. Even then?

Just sharing information. Have a nice day.

(And don’t ruin it by using these cowboys).

I have never had any trouble with Hermes deliveries. But also I don’t choose to use them, when I buy something it is up to the seller to decide how to get it to me. If my parcel does not turn up, I contact the seller, I have nothing to do with Hermes.

Helenluvsrob · 27/01/2022 12:37

Yep but often you don’t know herpes are involved !

girlmom21 · 27/01/2022 12:39

I've never, ever had an issue with Hermes.

If you're sending something of value, insure it.

Did they collect it or did you send it via a parcel shop?

Toanewstart22 · 27/01/2022 12:39

I like Hermes

Sally090807 · 27/01/2022 12:40

Totally agree, my daughter sold some doc martins that cost £169, sold them for £120 on eBay. The parcel was collected from our local shop and never arrived at the sorting office. Ebay refunded my buyer so not only have they lost a £169 pair of shoes I’ve also had to pay my buyer £120.
I paid extra for guaranteed delivery with a text upon delivery so didn’t pay extra to cover the parcel.
Hermes have offered me £20 and even that they haven’t paid me.
Total disgrace of a company and I hope this is one story that the DM will pick up on and name and shame them.

MangosteenSoda · 27/01/2022 12:41

Hermes = Satan on wheels near me. I just avoid buying from companies who use them now.

Jayban · 27/01/2022 12:41

It’s IMPOSSIBLE to make a claim. I’ve spent 2 hours this morning. There’s nothing on their website. Their phones don’t accept their own tracking numbers. It really is a scam. Nice delivery drivers yes. But don’t send anything - you will NOT be able to make a claim. Believe me, 3 days trying so far.

Jayban · 27/01/2022 12:42

It doesn’t matter if you insure or not!!!!! You will NOT, I repeat NOT be able to make a claim!!!!!

girlmom21 · 27/01/2022 12:43

Have you tried their live chat?

Jayban · 27/01/2022 12:45

Yes I’ve tried everything literally everything, and I’m a VERY persistent person. The only alternative left is CEO. Appalling company.

godmum56 · 27/01/2022 12:47

have never had a problem with them or their couriers

Jayban · 27/01/2022 12:48

PS. I have only just started using them occasionally when selling on eBay. I’ve heard people complain but I never thought it was this bad. I suspect they must have got even worse.

OP posts:
drpet49 · 27/01/2022 12:49

@ Sally090807 your fault as you didn’t insure the parcel for the correct value

girlmom21 · 27/01/2022 12:50

@Jayban

PS. I have only just started using them occasionally when selling on eBay. I’ve heard people complain but I never thought it was this bad. I suspect they must have got even worse.
Presumably you've used them previously then, and they've been fine? So you know they're not scammers.
Jayban · 27/01/2022 12:50

Well I hope whoever uses them never has a problem, because you will not be able to contact them or get a refund if you do. So be aware!

OP posts:
Jayban · 27/01/2022 12:51

Well they are scammers if Ive paid insurance but you cannot literally make a claim. Jesus.

My local delivery guy is lovely etc but we had the same problem with a lost laptop. Their T&Cs basically exclude most high value items so even if you declare the value properly they just say it's not their problem.

Obviously I would never have chosen to send a laptop with them, but the company we were returning it to for repair ONLY accepted MyHermes returns. They didn't care that they lost it, it was entirely our problem. Not that it was worth much anyway in its broken state.

IlIlI · 27/01/2022 12:52

I only ever hear bad things about Hermes but they've always been really reliable for me. Admittedly I haven't sent many parcels with them, but the few I've sent were fine. I get lots delivered from them though and it's always been on time. Once I had one that said he missed me (not sure how, I was in!) But it arrived fine the next morning.

They do have a really bad reputation though. I've never heard anything good about them, only my own personal experience is good.

Jayban · 27/01/2022 12:53

Wow people on here blaming the customers. I hope Hermes don’t lose a parcel on you and you find their website etc set up so you can’t make a claim!!!!

OP posts:
theemmadilemma · 27/01/2022 12:54

Op their website is fucking infuriating. It's just a circle of loops which lead you back to 'YOU CAN'T CONTACT US, HA!'

Spinnier · 27/01/2022 12:55

I think that's the thing @IlIlI, they are fine while it's working, and it's only when it goes wrong you realise quite how impossible it is to get any sort of recompense at all.

Jayban · 27/01/2022 12:55

Deliveries to my home from other companies generally alright. But - my advice based on experience of a private individual sending with insurance is - don’t!!! Your choice of course, I’m just tryna pass on the benefit of my bad experience so you have a choice not to have it!!!

Blossomtoes · 27/01/2022 12:58

Our Hermes guy is absolutely brilliant. They’ve never lost anything of ours.

starfishmummy · 27/01/2022 13:01

Only had problems with them once when they delivered to completely the wrong address - elderly lady and her carer notified the retailer. Tbh retailer was as much at fault because they then trusted Hermes to collect and redeliver to me rather than sending me a replacement and getting Hermes to collect and return the item to them. (In fact I think they expected me to go and get it because both our postcodes were "XY3" so it must be very close. It wasn't, it was 2 buses each way with an hours wait for connections!!)

PizzaCrust · 27/01/2022 13:01

Your replies make you sound a bit unhinged, to be honest.

When you’re posting anything it is up to you that you ensure that the parcel’s value is stated so it can be insured to that amount. You will be able to make a claim. It might be a nuisance but at the end of the day the only person that can be blamed for the value of the insurance not covering the parcel is yourself.

No point giving off to posters on here about it. No one works for Hermes customer services so it’s a waste of breath.
