Does anyone really look at other people's socks?

I have a drawer of socks which is over flowing. A friend gave me some space themed socks which are the ones I prefer to wear. I have loads of plain black socks which are a pain to pair as they're all slightly different even if they're black. I never wear them because it takes ages to find two. I'm very tempted to throw the lot and only buy easy to pair socks, cheerful, colourful socks from now on.

DH thinks I should follow his method, he only buys black or grey socks from the same brand so all of his grey socks match and all of his black socks match.

Been wearing fun socks - otherwise known as non-matching - for years! I started when i discovered how comfortable bamboo ones are - just bought multi coloured lovely ones but normally wear 2 different colours of the same. Go for it!

Who said they are doing it to get people to look at them and think they're mad or crazy. You're the one ascribing odd labels like annoying to anyone who wears anything other than a black sock?

I only possess silly socks, as do DC. I'm currently wearing odd socks (which happens more often than not). They're both Halloween themed. One sock is bright lime green with bats on, the other is black with skull and crossbones.

Silly socks are the best socks.

But no one is doing that. Just some random person you know. That's not at all what this thread is about. 99.9% of people wearing odd, miss matched or funky socks are not doing so to get others to look at them so it's a really odd thing to bring up.

I have lots of socks, I use some to motivate my patients after their surgery.
I also have ‘it’s ok to fart’ socks.
A lot of my patients ask what socks I am wearing.

We have ‘silly sock Friday’ at work to brighten up our day, it gives us something to laugh about and to look forward to.

Life is far too short to only wear boring socks (or clothes in general).

I had a colleague once who was very vocal about how women past the age of 12 should only ever wear black or white pants, black socks, plain tops, NO cartoon characters and nothing brightly coloured. She was insane (and very boring) and I took great delight in flaunting my dalek/pug/crocodile/neon polka dot socks at her on a daily basis.

I worked with a minimalist dresser like that. Neutral colours only (granted expensive), no prints or bright colours. I love colour. We’re all different.

i don't own a single pair of boring socks.. they're all patterned/themed :)

Life is too short for boring socks.

I like my socks to match, but I always wear colourful ones usually with animals on. Much easier to match together and nice to choose them in the morning.

The toddlers like to choose a different animal sock for each foot. I'm finding this thread very heartening since it's clear that it's only really my mum who judges the children's odd socks!

todays socks are white with pink heel and toe, and covered in black polka dots.

Yesterdays had sausage dogs wearing hats and scarves..

My mum bought me a box of 6 non matching cat socks. I love them.

Well I'm currently wearing bright green socks with raccoons on which I love but I do seem to be in the minority

My DGD likes to check out my socks when I see her. I've started wearing socks with animals on them. It really cheers me up too !

I''ve no problem with silly socks, I own some myself. But I have some across more than one IM MAD ME LOOK AT MY KER-RAZY SOCKS people, including a truly awful boss who insisted on showing us his wacky socks every single live long day. So just don't be a Colin Hunt about it and enjoy your socks,.
